I have not been faithful to my sparkpeople website, but I have been paying attention to what I eat, even when my tummy acted up.
I'm including a picture i snapped this morning that helps me remember my progress. As compared to the picture I took when I started this summer... i have come a long way. I'm back on track with my nutrition and excersise entries, and my goal is to manage my way down to 178 by New Year!
Wow! Some weekends I just don't know how to log my fitness points.
Saturday my two sons and I showed up for set construction for the youngest's play at 9 am and quit at 2 pm. I have no idea how to account for what I did, but I was exhausted! Didn't enter any fitness, but gave myself a pat on the back anyway.
Yesterday we got us at 5 am to join his cast for a field trip to Salem MA to learn more about the lives (and deaths) of their Crucible characters. Lets see, 3.5 hours of bus, followed by 7 hours of walking at varying speeds, lost of brisk- get to the next location, then slower tour and stop walking. Subtract a 30 minute lunch, add 3.5 hours by bus back. I calculated 19 minute miles for 140 minutes and hope that is fair.
Ended up on low caloried both days. Just didn't have much time to eat.
Yay Monday! Back to work and fit in my 30 minute lunchtime swim!
So I was arguing with myself in the locker room of the gym the other day about whether to keep contorting and trying to balance or just dropping the damn towel and getting to the business of getting dressed after my strength workout and swim.
Here is what my kinder self said to the women hiding in the towel while yanking up her underwear,
You look better than
a women who has been through
parenting of four children
the birthing of two of them
the nursing and carrying and nuturing of
the full time job in the prevention and aftermath of crime
the two lower back surgeries while finally completing my long delayed undergrad degree
the cervical neck surgery while completing my intense 18 months masters degree
the discovery of infidelity, and the fight to juggle kids, work and school while struggling through THAT emotional desert.
A divorce after 17 years of marriage
And the struggle to take beliefs and skills to make a true difference in the world.
So I dropped the towel.
I have 194 pounds on a 5'7" frame
I have been swimming for three years, at least three times a week
AND have stepped it up the last two months after joining sparkpeople and eating better.
I look better than I ought to
I'm just fine with right now
and I'm getting better every free weight heft, every swim lap, every walk with a friend.
And when I hit 175 I'm teaching these old joint to run.

Love your body right now. I think we all look better than where we have been, and we are getting better every day!
My living room jungle of porch plants, garage full of deck furniture, and big ol' grill shoved up against the porch screen door. Ready a day early, but I have stuff to do tomorrow. I want to hit the pool!!!!
