Finishing week one of my return and feeling a good level of commitment. I have included some work day strategies and put in place an evening snacking ban, which I have violated lightly twice so far.

No food after 7 pm!!!

Tracking my walking and trying to figure out how to find the time to get back into my swimming routine.

Wild weekend!!!

Monday, November 07, 2011

Wow! Some weekends I just don't know how to log my fitness points.

Saturday my two sons and I showed up for set construction for the youngest's play at 9 am and quit at 2 pm. I have no idea how to account for what I did, but I was exhausted! Didn't enter any fitness, but gave myself a pat on the back anyway.

Yesterday we got us at 5 am to join his cast for a field trip to Salem MA to learn more about the lives (and deaths) of their Crucible characters. Lets see, 3.5 hours of bus, followed by 7 hours of walking at varying speeds, lost of brisk- get to the next location, then slower tour and stop walking. Subtract a 30 minute lunch, add 3.5 hours by bus back. I calculated 19 minute miles for 140 minutes and hope that is fair.

Ended up on low caloried both days. Just didn't have much time to eat.

Yay Monday! Back to work and fit in my 30 minute lunchtime swim!

Small celebrations and successes!

I just remembered that I started my summer finding six laps of freestyle in a row without stopping to rest to be very difficult to achieve. My current normal is 20 laps!
I can bound up the steps at work without feeling at all out of breath! emoticon

AND the pants I put on this morning for the first time since spring need re-adjusting up when I stand, instead of leaving marks when I sit! emoticon

I may have a very stubborn scale, but I have PROGRESS!

Congratulations on your progress! I truly believe its not always about the scale, but more so about the small changes that you notice. Keep up the great work!

C'mon Irene!

Friday, August 26, 2011

My living room jungle of porch plants, garage full of deck furniture, and big ol' grill shoved up against the porch screen door. Ready a day early, but I have stuff to do tomorrow. I want to hit the pool!!!!

Am I the only one that hears "C'mon Irene" to the Dexie's Midnight Runners tune? Glad you're ready, and hope that Irene doesn't do too much damage!

A new home for my scale!

Friday, August 26, 2011

I was on "vacation" this week, so my 12 year old and I attacked our sad looking bathroom. I'm really sorry I didn't take a before picture, but trust me, it was a paint peeling, dark wooded, crowded, mismatched mess.

This is my justification for missing all but one day of pool laps, brisk walks, and pushups this week; but I have to think crowbar wielding and paint rolling count for something! I even replaced the lights in the picture myself!

So- new home for my scale finished.....and back to the pool today!!

I have to ask, would you have had the motivation and energy to tackle the bathroom BEFORE your started your fitness journey?

'Cause the reason we're doing this is so we CAN do everything we want in life! I would count this an unqualified success!

(Having done a bit of painting, etc. myself I gotta figure that your activity level was high enough!)

Great new bath!

LOVE the colors - I just re-did my bathroom too - well a mini makeover - paint, etc. Mine is tiny - about the size of a closet - in a 1930s house. The picture you posted makes yours look about the same size - wondering what kind of things you did to yours to open it up?
