A new year!

Sunday, January 01, 2012

It's a new year and I have made the decision to make the necessary changes needed to live a healthier life. I got very side tracked last year. I bought the SparkPeople cookbook yesterday and made the Lemon-Herb Roasted Chicken. It was delicious. My husband liked it alot too. My husband does not eat right either but he is very thin and has to eat to keep weight on. I want him to eat better. Just because he CAN eat anything he wants doesn't mean he should. That is one of my goals this year. He can eat healthy with me. :) I am looking forward to a great new year ahead!

A New Beginning

Saturday, October 15, 2011

I am starting Sparkpeople again today. I had surgery and a bad recovery in May. My motivation tanked after spending weeks in bed. Things are changing for me. We are moving next month and this will give me about two extra hours a day since I will be closer to work. I am stressing a lot over this move since my husband may be in Connecticut when we have to move. I have a new grandson who was born September 1st and another on the way at the end of December/ early January. I have so many wonderful things happening in my life and I want to have lots of energy to enjoy them. I dont want to feel tired and stressed all the time as I do now. My to do list is a mile long but I am approaching it one thing at a time. I worked out early today so that has already put me in a better mood. I have found that spending one day cooking and getting food ready and frozen to put in the crockpot has relieved some stress. I just thaw it out the night before and toss it in the crockpot before leaving for work. It is also saving us money and we are eating healthier. I made enough meals for 2 weeks in just a couple of hours yesterday. Who knew that "Whats for dinner?" could be so stressful but it was for me. Now it is so much easier. Babysteps, babysteps, babysteps. :)

Doctor's Orders

Thursday, March 10, 2011

After a couple of months worth of doctors appointments trying to figure out why I have so much pain in my back, we have a strong possibility: Lupus. I have been doing pretty well since joining SP and was excited. I tend to push myself hard and had forgotten how much I loved to work out. Now my doctor tells me that I can't do anything to wear myself out and that most exercising is out of the question. After pleading with him a bit, he did give in to letting me walk on the treadmill. I have to see a rheumatologist on March 24th so until then it is lots of rest. My doctor is pretty certain it is Lupus and believes it is causing problems with my liver which is why I have to rest I believe. I am just so frustrated that it is at this point when I finally find this website and so many supportive people that I also get a diagnosis which I have been searching for years for. If I am too worn out I wont do the treadmill and will try to get enough rest. Rest, unfortunately, does not come easy because of the pain but I am going to give it my best shot. Its only a couple of weeks until I see the Rheumatologist so I suppose I can try to follow Doctor's orders until then. Hopefully the Rheumatologist will give me the green light to work out more.

Sometimes our doctors are our best friends. Unless he is a complete dunde, I wuld heed his recommendations until I got a second opinion. I hope you reach an amicable solution. Keep docused. You can do it. Go for it.
