Doing well today

Sunday, February 24, 2013

I'm still on the typical high of joining a new program and rededicating myself. Typically, from the past, I know that the excitement will fade, and things will get harder. I was able to make really good choices today. Zumba maniac at Ronnie's class for an hour and able to resist the fries on the table afterwards. Good talk with him about my efforts over the last four yeas and how bitterly disappointed I have been at my lack of progress. I can get so down on myself and that is hardly helpful. Wore my new skinny jeans and they were a wee bit loose. That was a thrill too!

Day two-first blog entry

Saturday, February 23, 2013

I've never blogged before. Heard about it, read about it, curious about it, but never tried it. After over a year of a frustrating plateau, after losing 25 lbs on WW, a lady at the gym told me about Sparkpeople. So far, I'm impressed with the site. It's chock full of stuff. It seems easier to use than the WW one, and it's free! I'm sick of feeling bad about my body every damn day when I go to bed and I wake up. In between those, I'm pretty happy and go about my business, but in bed, I can't move past it, disrupting my thoughts and my sense of peace. Can't figure out why I can't control my eating.

Welcome to SP! As you delve further into it, you will see that it is similar to WW. There are even groups on SP dedicated to WW folks, if that is of any interest.

I think in the beginning, the easiest thing to start with is the tracker to see where patterns may lie. Eyeballing portions may be something to consider as the portions may be larger than you think. Water, too, plays a very big roll in weight loss. Consider that as well.

Join groups that are of interest to you, and focus on one habit at a time. The site can be overwhelming. I understand on the main page now they have guidance links especially created for newbies.

All the best as you continue on your journey to better health,

Nu

Welcome to Sparkpeople! I've found the folks here to be very encouraging and supportive. I figure we're all on the same healthy lifestyle journey; some are traveling fast and some of us are slow, but the IMPORTANT thing is that we're all headed in the right direction. Know there are lots of us right alongside you, cheering you on!
