Cookie fights back

Saturday, October 01, 2011

I went to a rummage sale today and picked up a gift box with two mugs, cocoa mixes, and a big shortbread cookie in it. After lunch, I got out the cookie and took a bite---and spit it right back out. It was rancid!!! Obviously the box was from many Christmases ago. There were no "sale by" dates on anything, but I three all but the mugs away to be on the safe side. I'm just glad I didn't swallow any of that cookie or I'd have really gotten sick! Even the cookies are stopping me from eating them so I don't geain back the weight. lol. Reminded me of that obnoxious commercial where the food slaps the person trying to eat it around. Still have that rancid taste on my tongue. YUCK!

I agree with SHARMAE. At least you have no guilt feelings about eating that cookie. Whoever donated that gift box to the rummage sale evidently had no kids and definitely had no sweet tooth! That cookie and the cocoa mix would not have lasted long enough to turn rancid in my house! emoticon So glad that you did not get sick from tasting it!

Wow, it probably was good you spit that out, good you didn't get sick. God must have been watching out for you!

Wow, you are being helped and guided. Someone probably had that gift for a few years and only thought about getting rid of it. That taste is ugly too!!!!

You learned a lesson--don't buy food items at a rummage sale (unless they are fresh baked goods) and cookies aren't always as good as they look!!

Just think, no guilt feelings or 2 extra pounds to work off. Sounds like you were the winner.

CFS makes me feel bad

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Three days per week, I do water aerobics. I have to. I have osteoporosis and was told lack of exercise weakened my bones. Once a week is Bible study and there is no way I'm giving that up. I'm a writer and am working on a novel, but I have such little time. By the time I get home from these activities, it's time for lunch and after that it's two p.m. and I'm so exhausted I have to fall into bed for a three hour nap. By the time I get up from that, it's supper time and then I do my social networking, get ready for bed, and spend time with Jesus and the Bible. My CFS and napping make me feel like such a failure. I'm sleeping my life away! Anybody that reads this, please pray for me. I need His help so much!

In no way are you a failure. Also, you may find after a time, which might be several months or a year, your energy will increase. I have RA, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and MS, my energy was at zero. About one year later it changed. I will pray for you. Please know God has your very best interest at heart. Some times we have to go through an experience to learn a lesson of importance before we can move on.

Napping is not a sign of failure, it's a sign that you're listening to your body's needs. Your days sound plenty productive as it is! Hang in there and keep your chin up! emoticon

I've been ill for a couple of weeks, and have been crawling into bed every evening for a nap. I sure don't feel very useful or productive!

I pray that you will feel better, so you don't need as many naps, or you feel better about yourself if it is not God's will for you to feel better physically.

On gaining back the weight

Monday, September 19, 2011

I put the eight pounds I lost since being in SparkPeople back on. I'm beginning to believe there are calories in air! lol. I'm learning to stop when full and only eat when hungry. And to eat smaller portions, too. I've learned that it isn't what I eat but how, when, and why I eat it. I'm also trying to drink plenty of water to keep full longer.

Good luck with losing the weight. My biggest problem is portion control. I agree with you that drinking a lot of water can help keep you full longer.

Sorry to hear about the weight gain. My biggest problem is that I eat too much food in one sitting. I am learning to eat slower, chew my food better and to pay attention to what I am doing when I am eating and think about the flavors, textures etc. When I do that I find that I often feel more satisfied with the meal.

Best wishes to you.

New novel project, new me!

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

I've stopped working on one novel because it was going nowhere and am now working on a new one. If I could just squelch the inner critic and let the Holy Spirit guide my hands on the keyboard, I'd be all right.lol. FINALLY, after nearly two months of agonizing over not getting my weight to budge, I got on the scale on Sunday (is that a motivation to pray or what? lol) and had lost TWO POUNDS! I was sooo excited that I jumped on here to share it. Anyway, I don't want to breathe now (I've come to the conclusion that there are calories in air lol) for fear of blowing it. I got so excited over the weight loss that I sent myself a WOOHOO! goodie!!!

How about what you are writing?

How do you start?

    Well done!

And too bad the other novel idea didn't work. All the best with this one.

I think I gain weight, by the way, when I look at food.
