Beating the Winter Blues

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

I don't know about everyone else, but when winter hits and the sun disappears, I feel slightly depressed. I lose my motivation and my drive to succeed and I just want to lay around and cuddle under my blankets.
I'm super determined this year, though. I refuse to be lazy, and I refuse to give up. I'm not going to lay around my house making excuses to not eat healthy or exercise.

I have a plan...

Monday - Workout at the gym with Dad
Tuesday - Zumba
Wednesday - Rest Day
Thursday - At home workout (Insanity, Zumba, Sparkpeople Cardio...)
Friday - At home workout
Saturday - At home workout
Sunday - Rest Day

Obviously, this could change a little bit .. but my plan is to workout at least 5 days per week for at least 30 minutes at a time.

If I can make it through these winter months, I can make it through any month.

My newest mini goal was to be at 175 by Christmas, but I have been battling a plateau for about a month. There's still a good chance that I could make it there by Christmas, but I've decided to extend the date to January 8th which is my birthday.

My biggest goal for this year was to be able to put a lower weight on my license when I get it renewed in January, and I've already beat that by about 10 pounds so I'm super excited about that. :)

I have accomplished too much this year to let these winter blues get me down and ruin my goals. I'm determined to LOSE weight rather than gain or stay the same. If anything, just no gain. I think it's quite an accomplishment to not gain during the holidays, but I'd prefer to at least lose a couple of pounds.

Anyway ... here's to the winter months .... let's kick their butts! :)

Exercise is definitely a good way to boost the endorphines and kick blues, no matter what time of year. Seems you have a good plan. How sweet to exercise with your Dad! When i was in peru thhis summer most of my exercise was walking back and forth in front of my new in-laws' home with my father-in-law. He's 80 years old, and when I started, he OUTLASTED me. Talk about incentive to kick it up!

Well, I have my exercise bike at home, and some weights, and Spark has some good exercise videos to keep things changed up. We can do this! here's to your next goal!

Reaching my Goals

Friday, October 26, 2012

On January 23rd of this year, I woke up and decided that enough was enough. I don't know exactly what the turning point was for me, but I'm so glad it happened. From that day to the present I have been eating better, exercising a TON, laughing more, enjoying life more, loving myself more. Looking in the mirror that day, I never thought I could even love myself. After 9 months of hard work and determination, ups and downs, good days and bad days, I've managed to lose over 60 pounds! I've still got a ways to go, another 20 or so pounds, but I'm not afraid of that challenge. I look back and see where I was, where I am now, and I know that I am capable of reaching my goals.
