Sugar Journal, take 2

Well, today I started over week 2 of the Sweet Tooth challenge. So far, I've been successful at avoiding desserts. In the break room at work, there were 4 packages of cookies and 1 tub of chocolate covered pretzels, but I told myself no.

Also, I have a new plan to combat these sugar cravings. Kinda stolen from my friend Amy.

I bought 3 packs of sugar-free gum, so when I get a sugar craving, I'll just pop in a piece of gum to keep my mouth busy and hopefully that will keep my mind busy too. That way, I won't go for the cookies since I already have something in my mouth.

Anyway, that's the plan, hope it works. lol

Hey, sorry I've been MIA for so long... Jordan's been out of town, and in my attempt to not be lonely, I overbooked myself with hanging out with friends, etc, and neglected my computer time this week. As well as chores and reading...

In short, I missed lots of workouts and ate like crap. Didn't do my measurements this week and failed totally with tracking food in general, and especially my sugar.

So tomorrow, I'm starting Week 2 of the Sweet Tooth challenge over again. Hopefully my schedule will be back to normal since Jordan is getting home tonight.

Self-Esteem Level: 3 (same)
3-Minute Step Test: 86 (-7)
BMI: 22.1 (same)

I'm really happy with my 3-Minute Step Test number today!! Let's see if next week is just as good.

Weight is not really going anywhere, but I'm happy to see my waist shrinking!

I am tracking food today and am in range so far. Also, I start week 2 of the Sweet Tooth challenge tomorrow, so hopefully as I cut back on my sugar, those measurements will improve even more!

Going for a run outdoors today. It's such a nice day, it's too good to pass up!

Sugar Journal, Part 6

Yesterday's sugar:

Breakfast: (3/4 cup) fruity pebbles cereal
Lunch: nothing
Dinner: 2.34 servings of dark chocolate squares

I didn't have any cravings with lunch because we had a drug rep come in for a lunch and learn at work. I was so stuffed from my meal that I didn't have room for dessert.

For dinner, I was mad at Jordan because he told me he would be home at a certain time and he wasn't, but I had already made dinner. I ate without him and then ate the dark chocolate because I was upset. I ate 9 chocolate squares, and was happy to find that 4 squares was one serving... lol

    Yea for the dark chocolate! I think the Lindt that I use also is 4 squares per serving but after awhile of being on it, I find I am satisfied with only one or two squares. And it's a great way to take the edge off hunger long enough to fix something decent!

Do you like eating a small amount of nuts like walnuts or almonds to help boost the protein? We have many nice places in town to get raw as well as roasted nuts - Nifty Nut House, the new Natural Grocers on N Rock, Green Acres & I think two of the three Whole Foods Association stores all have nuts in bulk. Plus I think that Faris Wheel? Forget the name, also has bulk nuts. It's near the Picadilly Restaurant (which ALSO sells bulk nuts inside their mini-grocery store!) at Central & Rock, same corner as the Chick-Fil-A (yesterday was a mad house with their grand opening!).

So that's one of the ways we like to moderate cereals that we find have a bit more sugar.

Sugar Journal, Parts 3, 4 and 5

Breakfast: (3/4 cup) fruity pebbles cereal
Lunch: 2 9" chocolate chip pancakes with waaaay too much syrup and extra Hershey's chocolate drizzle, large cinnamon roll
Dinner: peanut butter M&Ms

Breakfast: coffee cake
Lunch: 1 tbsp chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream
Dinner: 2 frozen oreo cupcake thingies that my friend made and, might I say, they were absolutely delicious!!!
Snack: one bite of Jordan's peanut butter cup

Breakfast: (1.5 cups) fruity pebbles cereal
Lunch: cinnamon roll
Dinner: TBD, but probably a bowl of ice cream

Saturday may have been sugar-packed, but I excused myself because I ran 8 miles that morning.

When I get home from work is when the cravings seem to hit. I eat lunch around 12:30 and often don't eat dinner until about 9:00. So I want something to snack on, and my go-to is sugar.

2 more days of recording my sugar cravings, and then on to starting Week 2 of the challenge!
