My husband came up with this name the other day and I found it so funny. I have been struggling with sleep to say the least. It all started a few weeks ago and there have been two nights in particular that have completely worn me out!
Last week NO ONE would let me sleep. I drink a ton of water each day so I was getting up to use the bathroom every hour it seemed. On top of all of this my dog, Piper was scared out of his mind because of a bad storm we were having. He was curled up in bed with me and would not leave my side. He was shaking and panting so hard. Then there was my dear husband who was so tired from working hard that he was snoring like a big grizzly bear ( sorry baby but it was true). I asked my husband to sleep upstairs and thought it would help. After all of this going on my little girl joined the club and start rolling around and pressing against me and would NOT stop. The more active she was, the more I could not sleep. Then on top of all of this my blood sugar started to drop and I felt SO nauseated. So I had to get up and get something to eat. Anyone who has been pregnant knows that after you eat, there goes the baby! Moving like crazy, even more than before!
This continued ALL NIGHT until 4:00 am. Then finally I was able to sleep. Fast forward now to the last before last and I am NOT kidding you, it happened again! We did not have the bad storm but the same pattern took place, including my handsome snoring husband! Early in the morning my dog came into our bedroom to come and tell us he needed to go outside and wanted more water. My husband, a true prince got up to help me with our dog while I got something to eat as I was STARVING! I am finding myself getting SO hungry around 2-4 am. It is almost as if the more she moves the hungrier I get. I am going to ask the doctor about my calories because I want to make sure I am eating enough.
So as all of this was going on my husband just busted out laughing and said he has always heard of pregnant women towards the end loosing sleep as if the baby was preparing you for the mid night feedings. He turned to me in the most loving way and said, It's going to be ok, you are just going through Baby Bootcamp!
My nights are not exactly restful but I know someday I will look back at all of this and laugh, knowing that maybe just maybe I made it through bootcamp with flying colors and I am indeed prepared!
