the 1st pic are my closet doors in my bedroom. We just redesigned the room, so i painted over them in white... but i had to take pix first.

2nd pic is some easy art i've been playing with. I'll have lots more of them to post soon.

Quitting smoking.... WAY easier than losing weight!!!

I smoked for 14 years. I was at about 1 1/2 packs a day. When i got pregnant i promised myself i would quit... but i couldn't. the stress made it so much harder! I bought a book called "the easy way to quit smoking" by Allen carr... i read it super slowly, and never really took it in. The book got lost in our move, and one day i found it. I read about 20 pages every night. I was getting excited, because i knew when i finished the book that i would quit. Well, one night (12/30/11 to be exact) I realized that i had just finished the book. I told myself I would quit in the morning, since i was not ready to give it up! then i realized that was a dumb idea... why go 8 hours without nicotine only to reintroduce it to my system?! So i got out of bed, nervous/excited, and went to have my final cigarette. I slowly puffed at it and when i put it out this sense of relief came over me. I was a non smoker! I admit i was nervous, and scared that it was going to be difficult, but i was so excited to finally be free! The first couple days were a little uncomfortable, but every day the cravings lessened. It's been 64 days now! :)

If you, or someone you know is a smoker and wants to quit, please read the book! I can not say enough about how easy it was for me! I recommend it to EVERYONE i know!

If anyone has ANY questions or need support, let me know! I know exactly what it's like to be super addicted to nicotine! and I now know how nice it is to not be!

    I'm so proud of you! I'm ten-years-quit now and remember how rough it was. Sounds like I could have used this book!

    Way to go Jen!! I just recommended the book to my Mom, my step dad is trying to quit smoking but has been smoking since he's teens, and he's 49. It's tough for sure, so thanks again for the info.

    Been an uphill struggle for me, and I've only been smoking for 3.5 years (3.5 years TOO long!!!). So thank you for the recommendation, I am willing to try anything at this point lol.

I was a smoker for 25 years....if you asked me how much I smoked I'd say 1 pack a day...Lies I smoked 3 packs a day I was sooooo hooked. It's been 8 years since my last puff and I am so happy I quit.

I know how hard that was for you to do!!

Goals/resolutions for 2012

2011 was such a busy year for me! I had a baby in February, bought a house in August, got married in September! I even got off 50 lbs too! so I was thinking... what could I achieve in 2012? so here's my list!

*Lose the rest of the weight to not be overweight at all!! 40lbs to go

*Stay smoke free. (decided to quit a few days ago and have gone from almost 2 packs a day to 1 cigarette yesterday, and 1 the day before!!)

*Stay strong and pain free. In order to do this I HAVE to workout at least 5 days a week. Not doing this could really hurt my progress! (and back!)

*Get some bills paid off and stop charging things! We went a little charge happy when we bought the house and although we are able to pay all the bills, it's a pain in the butt to have to pay so many each month!

*Reconnect with friends and enjoy life! I've been so busy with everything in 2011 that I really lost touch with my friends. Time to reconnect and get out there and start having fun!

That's good enough for now! Will update when i think of some more! :)

Where did I weigh in?? silly rant!

Most people probably have a certain spot that their scale always sits... workout room, bathroom floor, etc. Well, our house is too small to really keep it out, so it gets tucked away in the bathroom. When weigh in day comes around, I place it down and weigh in. Simple right? well, one day i set the scale on our bath rug, read the number, got excited (like REALLY excited) and then thought, that can't be right... that is too much of a loss, so i put the scale on the hard floor... not so good of a number. So then I carry my scale into the spare bedroom and place it on the hard carpeted flooring... different number again. hmm... So, the big question is, where did i weigh in last week?! lol. I decided to go with the number in the spare bedroom because it was between the two, and I have a feeling I weighed in on the rug last week, but can't remember for sure! ugh! From now on i will weigh in in the spare bedroom, whether the weight is exactly right or not, I will at least be able to see if I've lost or gained!

    i agree with you guys with keeping it on the floor... but i have 1 more week for the challenge, so that would throw off my weight since I know I haven't always weighed in in the same place. Once I go to the doctor in January, I'm going to see where my scale is most accurate to theirs.

    I would suggest keeping it on a hard surface b/c rugs and carpets add too much padding which can throw the scale off.

    I had the exact same problem a couple weeks ago. It is so irritating! I finally just moved the basket that's usually in the corner of the tiled bathroom so that I didn't have to mess with moving it anymore. I'm looking for a new scale but all the "better" models are so much more expensive.

I've also noticed mine changes if I lean forward or shift my weight to the balls/heels of my feet. Very, very annoying.

  You have found a problem with the use of the spring scals. They can read differently based on the floor under them. Try always putting it in exactly the same place,

.... I'm going to start DOING! There's just too much room for excuses when you "try" to do something. I know I can exercise, I know i can find time to. I know how to eat properly. So there's no reason to try to eat better, or try to fit in exercise. I'm just going to do it!
