Exercise plan

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

I knew that an exercise plan was a good idea for me, because I have been slacking a little in the exercise department. Since I am trying to lose a fair amount of weight still, I feel like I should be doing more than 3 times a week. But I don't want to push myself so much that I give up all together. I love doing Zumba and I like walking, but I hate running. So here is my plan:

M- run 1 mile, walk the rest, 10 min upper body strength
T – zumba, 10 min lower body strength
W – run 1 mile, walk the rest, 10 min core strength
TH – zumba, 10 min upper body strength
F – run 1 mile, walk the rest, 10 min lower body strength
Sa - off
Sun – 1 hour walk, 10 min core strength

BLC healthy breakfast recipe

Thursday, June 13, 2013

I am not a great cook, and I do not really enjoy cooking. I'm starting to like it a little more, but it's not my favorite activity. So when our challenge was to get a recipe for a healthy breakfast, I knew I would be going to Sparkpeople's recipe page. I also will usually have something usually considered to be a dinner meal at breakfast. Like a turkey burger or chicken and rice.

Sparkpeople has a ton of recipes and this is only one of many! If you have never looked at their recipes you should. I copied the link for a Feta and Spinach Scramble. It looks delicious and has a ton of protein! I have not made it yet, (I need feta) but I am planning on making it as soon as I get to the store. It is made of egg whites, spinach, onions, feta cheese, and tomatoes. Basically just mixed together. So easy and delicious!

LOL I also have NOT been much of a cook, but than I lost my own place. It was by choice,,, living with ny fam,,, that was nice, AT FIRST ! But, I wasn't COMFY using the stove,, etc there. Now I am someplace else,,,and I am STILL NOT comfy using the stove, but about to move into my OWN place next week,, and believe me hon,,, once you haven't had the OPPORUNITY to have OUR OWN STOVE, FRIDGE and COUNTERS, and OWN DISHES etc, you than CHERISH THEM !! (also ask anyone who's been thru ANY Disaster they also say the SAME THING !! Mine had turned into at the end,,, domestic violence),,,,,, so I can NOT WAIT to walk around,,, as I PLEASE with my cat being FREE to ROAM the apt,, as SHE WISHES instead of being in a ROOM and allowed out "ONLY at certain times". So we BOTH can NOT WAIT til Next Tues thru THurs,,, to MOVE INTO our OWN PLACE.

Maybe if you think of this,,, and how HONORED U ARE to have this situation,,, it MAY help you to see ,,its a BLESSING to COOK !!

June goals

Monday, June 03, 2013

*Exercise 100 minutes
* Do strength 10 minutes every other day
* Eat in calorie range 3 out of 7 days
* No fast food 2 days a week
* No eating after 9pm

My eating is not good, so I'm trying to get it under control by taking baby steps. I know no fast food for 2 days a week is still not healthy, but that would be progress for me.

These are very realistic goals. You can do these changes! I too love fast food. Terrible. I feel guilty after every time I go through a drive through and have hidden my bags in the trash so no one sees that I went. Treat yourself once a month with something from fast food but track it. That's much more satisfying. Good plan :)

Color Run

Monday, May 13, 2013

I did a 5k called the Color Run on Saturday. It was so fun! They don't time it, so I have no idea how I did but I had a lot of fun. You wear a white shirt and as you walk/run, they have 4 stations where you get colored powder thrown on you. At the end everyone gets a color powder packet and they count down as everyone throws their packet in the air at the same time. It looks beautiful. I would really suggest that everyone does this walk/run. It is a fun time and very low pressure for anyone who has not done a 5k before.

This is what it looked like when everyone threw their packets up

This seems like such a neat 5K! I'll have to look for something like that near me.

Color Run tomorrow

Friday, May 10, 2013

I am really excited about my 5k tomorrow. It is my 2nd 5k and my first Color Run. I am planning on jogging most or all of it, but there are walkers too, so I am a little less intimidated. My knee has been hurting a little this week, so I haven't jogged since Monday. I think my knee will be fine and I am nervously looking forward to tomorrow.
