I know what you're going to say.....but I still need to vent

Monday, July 26, 2010

So, I began my weight loss journey at 132 lbs. I am 43 years old, height: 5 foot and a wink ;) I joined sparkpeople about 2 months ago weighing in at 129. Goal weight: 114. Current weight: 120 (+/-). I have been tracking EVERYTHING that I eat!!!! Even if it's a taste. I run 3-4 miles 7 days a week. I walk my dogs at least a mile twice a day. I stretch after running and do sit-ups, crunches and push-ups. I have also started doing some workout videos for yoga, toning, and cardio. SO, even though I keep my calories STRICTLY between 1200-1300 daily..... the weight loss has stopped and worse yet....a slight gain. I started reading some Sparkpeople articles on plateaus and exercise and it seems that MAYBE i'm not eating enough calories for the amount that I burn. Using "REPORTS" my daily calorie differential is usually around -600. SO..... I pushed my calories to 1300-1400 daily and kept on exercising. AND.... another slight gain. Please help. I know I have to stay positive (i'm so trying). I know I have to just stick with it. The last 5-6 lbs are the toughest I know. Just wanted to know how others have dealt with this kind of issue. Looking for any suggestions or thoughts on if I should continue with 1200+ calories a day or keep it at 1400. I want this to be a life style change. I'm willing to be patient and have the weight come off the right way. THANKS to anyone who reads~~

thanks for writing. I actually drink 10-12 glasses of water a day. I try to stay super hydrated for when I run. But THANK YOU for writing!!! I'll try and keep the stress down. I'm always running around with something to do. NN-yes i agree!!

Are you making sure to drink all of your water and stay hydrated? Sometimes that's the culprit..you get so focused on the calories, that some of the other things slip past. I would keep the higher calorie intake for a bit and see if that helps since you might be putting yourself in starvation mode burning that much and only taking in 1200. Also watch the stress in your life, that can cause a plateau in weight loss as well. Best of luck to you and hope you have a good day!

hey..don't have any words of wisdom, but i think eating more calories might be a good idea because you're burning a boat load of calories! i just came across your blog and thought..hey, i'm short too!

on a totally unrelated note..don't you find the calories burned on fitness tracker to be way off because of your height? i jogged for 3 miles the other day and according to the fitness tracker i burned 156calories but my hr monitor say 280..that's pretty substantial.

anyway..have a fabulous day :)
