FATNISSTuesday, April 24, 2012I am too old to be up on current hot topics, but I did get a copy of “Hunger Games” after the hype because I sure was intrigued by the title. Why, I have been hungry almost all my life because my appetite thermostat keeps telling me I am starving, especially when I am on binges! It is so contradictory, but that is how my body works. The more I overeat, the hungrier I feel. I hope they hurry and do research that might explain this bizarre phenomenon because this had made my life miserable. I have so many bad eating habits that are a real challenge to change- obsessing about food, slowing down at meals, spacing meals (this is the most important one, I think, because I tend to eat most of my calories early in the day or the starvation feelings dog me all day), and avoiding foods that make the hunger come in like crazy. In my case, it is bread, sugary food, and carbs in general including whole wheat. I can only think of one food that seems to fill me up, popcorn, because if I eat lots of it I feel full without as many calories as most other foods. Yep, I have been playing Hunger Games a lot longer than Katniss. I have read the first section of the book; saving the rest of airport and plane. ![]()

Hi ya, read your blog with interest because certain foods have "addictive properties" and sometimes you just need a push in the right direction instead of continually battling a physiological process... There are quite a few books now that say similar things and if you get a chance to read wheat belly I would do so. I went to the cinema to watch hunger games with my eldest son and really enjoyed it - and ate popcorn... I hope you continue your quest for overcoming dieting as this may also be part of the problem rather than the solution. Mindful eating is a much better "mindset". Anyway, saw your comment on a blog and just thought I would drop by and maybe send a snippet of info your way... +Mark Report Inappropriate Comment |

And don't forget your water! I can always tell when I haven't reached my correct hydration level because I feel hungrier without the water! BTW, there was a 'popcorn diet' back in the 1970s Report Inappropriate Comment |
