Two weeks and counting

Sunday, June 22, 2014

Two weeks ago I changed things up................again.
Since then I have been trying to eat around 1500 calories per day, starting the day with high protein, more water and at least 10,000 steps.
Proud to say that at my first week weigh in I lost 1.8#
At my second week weigh in I lost 1.8#
To some this may not seem like a lot. But the fact that I am losing and almost 2 # per week. I think is pretty great. Especially since I don't have a lot left to lose. Was 156.6 this week and hope to at some point to get to 135.

It seems like a lot to me, especially when you don't weigh all that much. The closer you get to your ideal weight, the harder it is to lose. So I'm giving you a round of applause for your accomplishment.

Trying something new..................again

Monday, June 16, 2014

OK, I have read that your body needs 1500 calories everyday just to function. If you eat that amount and do nothing, your weight should stay the same. You eat more than that and do nothing, you will gain weight. And if you eat the 1500 and are active, you should lose weight. So that is what I am starting this week. Also shooting for 10,000 steps or 5 miles
5.24 Miles/ 11,165 steps
1,267 calories eaten (didn't have an afternoon break at work and tummy felt a little tight so I didn't want to overload it)
6 glasses of water (I am terrible with water, so I am working on it)

Gonna kick December in the butt

Sunday, December 01, 2013

Today brings the start of another month. Have not had a lot of success the last few months. Hoping to change that this month.
Starting weight for December: 161
Not sure what to set for a goal for the end of the month so I am just going to push forward.
Goals for the Month:
1) Complete at least 3 miles with Walk Away the Pounds at least 3 days a week.
2) Complete December 25X Workout challenge daily.
3) Complete December Push Up Challenge daily.

Hoping that if I stay commited to these 3 goals and try to keep my calories in check (with the exception of a small splurge for Christmas) I can have a loss for the month of December.

I'm A Believer

Sunday, August 04, 2013

After a pretty crappy week and weekend I did a little research on the Mayo website, 1700 calories per day. That was my goal last week. So I hit around 1700 calories and did Walk Away the Pounds all days but one. When I got on the scale this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had lost 4 pounds. Anxious to see what next week brings.

1700 calories a day seems a little high from what I would have thought you should eat to lose weight. So I always went low and couldn't drop a pound. When I boosted it - Surprise - I lost! Thanks for sharing your success!

Calorie Question

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Wow, I am so confused right now I could just scream. Hoping maybe someone here can offer another view point. Or just get me more confused. This sit says I should be eating 1200-1500 calories. A friend on Facebook says 1200 calories is not enough. Checked another site which says I should be eating 1700 calories. I have heard yet others say they up their calories until they start losing weight. OH MY GOODNESS. I know we are all different, but I need to find something that will work for me. I will be honest, I am an EXTREMELY picky eater. Do not like a whole lot of vegetables, have tried some again after years and a lot make me almost gag. I like cauliflower raw with dip, same goes for carrots, spinach is ok raw in a salad or mixed in a smoothie, baked sweet potatoes are also good. And fruits I eat just about any. I have switched to whole wheat bread, not white. Most times I use the 100 calorie sandwich thins. Also I rarely eat beef. I stick with chicken, turkey and the Morning Star meatless products. Would love to hear others thoughts on some things I might try. emoticon

For me,I know that eating between 1300 and 1550 helps me lose. It seems like if I go 1300 one day and 1550 the next it really helps the weight come off. Staying at 1200 just don't seem to help me. I'm not big on fruits or veggies either. I'll make a salad and throw in morning star meatless products, 50 calorie cheese and whatever veggie I do like. emoticon

According to Chris Powell who works with the morbidly obese, our bodies burn an average of 12 calories per pound of our weight. Anything below that would bring weight loss. A couple of days ago I weighed 264, so X 12 = 3168. It was a cook out day at work and for whatever reason I ended up eating around 3400 calories. When I weighed the next morning, I was down 1.5 pounds. Next day I also ate on the high end and dropped another pound. My tracker says I should be eating between 2100 and 2400 and I've been plateaued for a month. I won't continue eating that much, but I was kind of shocked. Pleasantly! now we'll see what happens when I go back to eating less!

I am confused about the calorie intake also, I just got a fitbit and it says as much exercise and walking I do, that I should be eating at least 500 more calories daily, and I can not lose weight at 1200 so, I do not know, but your Mother was right, "eat your vegies" emoticon

Only time will fell for you knowing what numbers you lose at. My thoughts on intake are to stay as low as possible for calories, carbs & fat and as high as possible for protein. Stick with a plan and track everything.

Other than the veggie thing you have a good base. Maybe instead of more foods you need to learn how to fix them different ways, this keeps you from getting burned out. Good luck, you can do it!

A healthier dip for veggies is hummus, or a homemade recipe.
