Fit by Thirty- 198 days and counting

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

What better way to spend hump day than blogging!?! :) I have't done this in a very long time but decided it is crucial to my goals. I think posting/blogging and being a part of a healthy lifestyle community is key for me! So today I start my daily blog!

I have 198 days until my 30th birthday! I have lost 15lbs since starting weight watchers 5 weeks ago and feel much better already! I have 45 more pounds to go to reach my goal weight of 160! But honestly I am just ready to be back in the one hundreds! I am 6lbs away from 199 and I am nervous. The last few times I have tried to lose the wedding weight I get to this spot and then I turn back to my old ways and next thing ya know I am 220 again! I refuse to lose this battle! I don't want to lose weight for a wedding, or a trip, or for my husband, I want to lose it for me! I am only using by birthday as a goal date. I am a confident person and don't mind being this weight but I am tired of feeling lazy! I miss going for runs with the doggies or meeting up with SP-Louisville Losers and doing activites. I miss going to the gym and feeling amazing after a hard workout! But I am slowly back on that track! I have been taking a spin class every monday for 4 weeks and OMG is it crazy hard! But I LOVE the way I feel when I am finished! Like I just conquered the world! It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment! But I am ready to push harder! I am going to knock out these 6lbs like Ali baby!! emoticon

Law of the Garbage Truck

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

I got this is an email today and had to share! I really like it!

Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car
jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi
driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other
car by just inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head around and
started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved
at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, "Why did you just do that? That guy almost
ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" That is
when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The
Law of the Garbage Truck."
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They
run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of
anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles
up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll
dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile,
wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their
garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or
on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let
garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short
to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..... "Love
the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who
don't." Life is ten percent what you make it and
ninety percent how you take it!

HAVE a great and non-Garbage day!

Running??... guess I will try it.. again! hehe..

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Even though I am currently on restriction for my back... I am looking at options... I really want to use this summer to get myself in the best shape of my life!
I have tried running a few times... and I always feel so tired. I've used the same program to try and jumpstart my training... but it never works. I pretty much gave up on being a runner... until TODAY! :) I was browsing around on different peoples pages and found a 10-week training program on one of the pages... Included was the orginal article that she found it on. So I read up on the Plan and it sounds great! It really paces you and I think I might actually be able to enjoy myself and become a runner! Only time will tell.... :)

Once my back is at 100% and I get the ok from my doc I am going to set up dates and times to start this program! I am really excited!

Here is a link to the article:,7120,

Your 10-Week Training Plan

Before you start with this schedule, get your legs ready with eight days of walking: walk for 20 minutes a day for the first four days, then increase to 30 minutes a day for four more days. Now you're ready to begin with week 1.

Each week of the program, do your run/walk workouts on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and take Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday off.

Week 1
Run 2 minutes,
walk 4 minutes.
Repeat 5 times.

Week 2
Run 3 minutes,
walk 3 minutes.
Repeat five times.

Week 3
Run 5 minutes,
walk 2.5 minutes.
Repeat four times.

Week 4
Run 7 minutes,
walk 3 minutes.
Repeat three times.

Week 5
Run 8 minutes,
walk 2 minutes.
Repeat three times.

Week 6
Run 9 minutes,
walk 2 minutes.
Repeat twice, then
run 8 minutes.

Week 7
Run 9 minutes,
walk 1 minute.
Repeat three times

Week 8
Run 13 minutes,
walk 2 minutes.
Repeat twice.

Week 9
Run 14 minutes,
walk 1 minute.
Repeat twice.

Week 10
Run 30 minutes.

Note: After completing week 9, if you feel tired, repeat this week of training before moving on to week 10.

Well I have never been much of a runner, but the times I committed to it, I never felt better. So with this plan I am going to hit the track (or park) and see if I can jump start my summer cardio with this solid running plan. Here goes nothing! Thanks for the find.

I am so glad to see you found this program! This is the one that I used and I just started running in September of last year. I already completed the Triple Crown and I am running the mini-marathon on Saturday. If I can become a runner, anybody can! Good luck to you :)

Another training program to check out might be the Couch-to-5k program. I used that when I was getting back into running months ago...of course I changed it up a bit to account for some of the running I had been doing. Have fun running! Just think next year you could do the Triple Crown of Running and/or the Mini!!

New clothes....

Saturday, March 01, 2008

So today I went around to look for some wedding accessories... I started in the Highlands and went to a few boutiques and found some great stuff and some AWESOME shoes for the wedding! :)

So of course while looking for accessories I had to try on some clothes .... I saw some great jeans so I thought what the heck... I went to look for my size and nothing.. of course I have NEVER been able to fit in their LARGEST size... :( So I decide to grab the biggest size and THEY FIT!!!!! I was blown away! I used to get so upset trying on their jeans because they were always way too tight... but not today!!! :) I didn't buy them (they were $78 and I don't think I could wear them at the wedding! lol), but it put me in a great mood!

After that I went to Oxmoor Mall and decided to look for a new outfit for tomorrow (we are taking some engagement photos)! I ended up with some great stuff!!! Things fit so much better... no muffin top!! :) I really felt great!! I can't wait to take pics tomorrow and then post them here!!!!

What A Great Day!!!

I think trying on new clothes and new sizes is so much more exciting than seeing the scale drop!
Congrats! Would love to see those pictures!

Bad Days....

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

So the last few days haven't been great.... I have a visitor this week (TOM) which always makes me irritable and emotional... which sometimes causes out of control eating. So instead of going to the gym last night I went home and ate pizza!! UGH!! I only have 9 weeks until my wedding day and I want to look great! I know that if tomorrow were my wedding I would be happy with the way I am... but I don't want to look back and know I could have done better and pushed myself harder... not just for my wedding, but for the rest of my life! I have always had the problem with quitting things after a few weeks/months... but SP has really helped me stay with it! I've been here over a year and kept the weight off...

I still have so much I want to accomplish with my body and with being healthy... but my motivation seems to be taking me on a roller coaster ride!

I brought my gym clothes with me, plus I have volleyball tonight. The plan is to go to the gym right after work, then go to vball! I really hope I can stick with it tonight and not look focus! This journey is important to me and I refuse to give up!!!

You will get it back, Jen. We all get in lulls every now and then. Just hang in there and the numbers will start to move again. You CAN do this. By the way, you are getting married on my birthday so it should be a beautiful day.....have a wonderful weekend.

Girl, don't you even get down on yourself. Everyone has bad days here and there and you, my dear, have been on fire!
I think it is great that you are already getting back on track with going to the gym before vball! That is fantastic and you are a true inspiration! Keep on motivating all of us and be proud of your accomplishments and not upset about your bad days. :)

Jen, I'm so proud of you. Our one year anniversary has come and gone...and we are still here and still highly motivated. You have a plan and you will succeed. I went to Old Chicogo and had pizza (first time in 8 months) and some quasadilla and 3 beers. I came home and tracked it and was in my numbers. It goes to show you that these things are doable. Congradulations on your new team (but as you know I bleed blue) I know this will help you continue on this journey in a positive direction. You've always been one of my favs since day one, and I'll always be here if you need anything. Gosh, 9 weeks away...are you nervous yet??? (((HUGS)))
