Marathon Training: Week 10, Day 3

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

What a difference a short 'long' run makes. Wowza! I was able to really give it my all during this run because I had so much to give. I did wait until I had about an hour to sundown, and so I sort of felt I was chasing sundown at points but did really well with breathing and form. So here are my details:

temps: low 70s
3.09 miles
13:02 pace
40:18 duration
631 calories burned

fastest pace: 9:44

Marathon Training: Week 10, Day 1

Monday, July 06, 2009

Okay so here we go...adjusting myself here. The only way I can figure that I got ahead (not on mileage...that was just me being ambitious, willing, and clueless I suppose) by a week was that, prior to the official start of my training...I was running 3-4 days a week and each run was 3.5 miles. Well, that meant I started a week prior and should have blogged. Not a biggie. So here I am...hoping that getting ahead on miles means I did myself a bit of a favor on learning about endurance. Even if I was taking it easy on my tempo...my body is at least accustomed to 3 solid long run weeks of 10+ miles. My short runs have remained short...so not a big deal. So I was blessed with a shorter long run Sunday. I had a full plate, and woke up early. I was eyeballing time and knew I had to stop and get myself ready and my kiddos too...so instead of 6.0 I did 4.29. Not gonna fret about it. I was very short on my energy bar...but given my distance...it's okay. I'll need them for next week.

Temps: Upper 60s
1 hr duration
4.29 miles
14.08 pace
920 calories

Whoopsie! Readjusting the Marathon Blogging

Sunday, July 05, 2009

Well, I was an English major in college, and I guess I'm a bit excited about the marathon training...and I ended up blogging a week behind. It sure caused me a good deal of confusion on Saturday evening. I looked at a calendar, back tracked to the current, and reassured myself that it was a short run weekend indeed (good thing because it was a busy day today). So...you'll see a jump in my weeks because of my bad math, but rest assured I have not missed a thing and in fact made myself run further sooner and ended up helping my endurance out a bit. emoticon

Marathon Training: Week 8, Day 6

Friday, July 03, 2009

A quick entry to capture my run. Major kudos to Mother Nature, who kept it cloudy and cool for me to get the run in before leaving for the weekend. Hoping to get my Sunday run in, but do not know what time of day it will happen.

Temps: Low to mid 60s, low humidity
Duration: 42 minutes
3.11 miles
13'41 pace
540 calories burned

I tried to focus on really pushing off to propel myself during the run periods, but that just gave me bad form and ouchy shins. No thanks! I'll stick to what I know.

Great job on your run! Definitely stick to what you know and listen to how your body is feeling. Which Galloway program are you using? I'm mixing the "To Finish" with the "4:40 Time Goal" programs. Hope you get your run in on Sunday! emoticon

Marathon Training: Week 8, Day 3

Warm day. Lots of sweat. Worst ever, I think (re: sweat).

Temp: mid 80s and slightly humid
3.47 miles
48: 30 duration
13:58 pace
465 calories burned

I'm using a run/walk method, so my pace may seem slow overall. My best pace on this run was 9:13. Not too shabby!
