Greetings from India...

Saturday, September 22, 2007

I spent an hour at the gym this morning... then an hour at the pool. :) It's a lovely 95 degrees out today, and sitting under the shade of an umbrella in a lounge chair was PERFECT. :)

I have been eating like a saint, too. (what has come over me?!?! Eating on the company dime and actually BEHAVING?) I had a banana for breakfast before the gym (more like brunch. I slept in). Then I had a lovely chicken.... thing? It was chicken in a bit of bread with some sauce. Very yum. I have been considering my options for dinner. There are FIVE restaurants in the hotel, and they all serve room service. I should probably go down and eat, but I hate sitting in the middle of a restaurant alone if I can help it. So I may order up... who knows.

Funny thing... I find I've become a bit of a... hero? or something among my team here. lol. They were all SO excited for me to be here...and I felt a little bad because these kids, who probably make 1/12th of what I do, wouldn't let me pay for anything, including my own lunch. lol. The great thing is, they are all so eager to learn and that makes my job much easier.

Off to do more work. (yeah, it's Saturday, but as I told my boss - "I didn't fly 10,000 miles to laze about in my hotel room. I'm here to work.")

I am the stress-eating queen. I crave sugar when I'm stressed. Very annoying.

I have to talk about the benefits of making your own pasta sauce for a moment. I'm not the biggest fan of pasta in the world. But it's an easy meal, so we eat it once in a while.

A couple weeks ago I got ten pounds of tomatoes at the farm. Ok, I cannot eat that many tomatoes before they go bad. So I decided to make tomato sauce. I dipped the tomatoes in boiling water for a minute, so I could slide the skin off. Tossed them into a pan with shredded zucchini, carrots, onion and basil. Then I blended them up with my stick blender, simmered for an hour, and added a bit of sugar and spices. OH MY GOD was it good! And super quick! I don't think I spent more than an hour total on it, and now I have four jar-sized containers of tomato sauce to be used (ok, 3. We used one last night). And it's MUCH cheaper than buying sauce!

Ok... I'll get off my whole foods soapbox for today. :) I can't wait to see what the goodies from the farm are tonight!

Off I go!

Thursday, September 13, 2007

So once again, I am on my way to India. I leave on Wednesday and come back the first Thursday of October. I'm certain it will be a very productive trip.

On the plus side, I should have a fairly easy time getting to the gym while I'm there. The hotel has a lovely health club, and people tend to get into the office later over there than they do here, so I'll have time in the morning. :)

I've been really off the bandwagon for a few weeks. Not gaining, but not losing either. I need to get back to it. My routine is all messed up.

You sound like you have such an awesome job. I don't know about the working end of it, sounds like it's long hours...but INDIA for 3 weeks? Work or no work, I'm jealous!!! And the sentence starts with 'once again'. Don't get me wrong, it's a "nice" jealous. One of my goals is to see a list of about 100 places across the planet. I would be a world traveler if only I were wealthy enough to do so.

Remember never to finish your plate or they think they haven't given you enough and feel like a bad host and feed you more!!! (don' they just love feeding you!)

Sounds like the gym will be great! Enjoy the pool too!

Hope it is a productive trip!

Well it looks like there's a slight bright side to your trip after all! Just make sure you stick with those trips to the gym. So you slipped a bit. Just pick yourself up, brush it off, and get moving again. You know you can do this, and we're all behind you 100%! *hugs*

OOTL

Ok... I've been out of the loop for a week or so. It has been an odd week. I've had very little desire to be on the computer for some reason. I've been doing ok food wise, though I haven't been tracking. Having a hard time with the water, but I'll get back there.

This past week was very "fall-like", which I'm sure has something to do with it. I love being outside in the crisp air, so I tend to resent anything that keeps me away from the outdoors.

The veggies at the farm are starting to change from the summer veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, etc) to the fall-ish veggies (potatoes, squash, etc). It won't be long before we see my favorite veggies. :) :) :)

I am committing right now to getting back to tracking and logging into my groups.
