2013 seems to have been a rough year for many, myself included. Work woes, injuries, etc. all made it more challenging than I would have liked.
That said, 2014 is going to be great! I won't accept anything less. :) And I have a goal!
I want to PR the half distance in the fall. To do that, I need to do a few things:
- Get my eating back on track. It's not terrible, but it has been sloppy over the past month or so. For me the best way to get back on track is to be very strict for a few weeks, so I'm going to do a Whole30 starting tomorrow. I'm very much looking forward to it, as it gives me some structure and really I'm sick of holiday food.
- Start run training again. Real training, not fun runs. (though I hope they'll be fun!) There is a half marathon in April that I will likely do with some friends, but that's not what I'm training for. My eyes are set on the fall.
- Keep up with strength training. The end of 2013 has focused on weight lifting, and it has made a huge difference in how I look and feel. I will not let that go by the wayside in favor of my running. It makes me a better runner, and a healthier person all around.
What are you doing to make 2014 the best year yet? Don't leave it to chance - set some goals and get working!

Well, breathing may be an exaggeration today. This cold has me wheezing at best. I hope I can manage through my workout tonight! Yikes!
Anyway, things are good, just busy. New job started on Monday, and while I'm not yet super busy I am off my game because of the change. I am the type of person that needs structure in my life, even if it's just knowing that I own the lack of structure and can focus on creating structure around it. But having none of that has been tough. I will get there, though. :)
Still shopping for Christmas, too. I think I'm almost done!
Beyond that, I'm doing a fitness challenge that has pushed me to get it done. I'm a little worried as I skipped my workout last night (for a good reason, to see a loved one who is in a nursing home and really wanted to see me) and now I have to find a place to make up that hour before the end of the day tomorrow. So... I'll have to sneak in some extra time tonight and tomorrow. :)
Off to get things done! Have a wonderful day, all!

Aaah. Sleep, beautiful sleep. So loved after a crazy week!
Saturday night went off without a hitch. We were prepared and ready, and it was a wonderful night!
The day started at R&T's house, getting auction items together, making sure name tags were set, etc. But we also spent a lot of time wondering if we were missing anything since it seemed too easy. That's the beauty of an experienced team - everything was done ahead of time!
We packed the cars and headed to the venue. Queue running around setting up tables, making sure presentations were running properly, etc. It wasn't long before I realized it was time to get dressed!
Doors opened at 6:30 and people were ready! Happy faces as people found their seats, greeted friends, and had a lovely time. This included FIVE puppies-in-training! Wow! So adorable! It's always fun to follow the progress of the Guide Dogs in Training from when we first meet them as tiny pups to when they get their assignments and go to their forever homes.
Dinner was great, I even got to sit and chat with some people for a while. The auction ran smoothly and everyone loved the items. Everything sold very well and we are fortunate to have made a good deal of money to continue our work!
Everything wrapped up around 11, and then the scramble to get the room cleaned up and packed before heading home.
It was a long day, but well worth all the work to see everyone happy and having fun, and supporting such a great cause!
oh... and I suppose you all want to see the dress. ;) Here you go:
