Off Day / Day Off

Friday, July 29, 2011

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today
DD decided to share her cold with me.
I have a stuffed up nose and head ache so....
I'm taking the day off from exercise
I'm using the time to take care of me.
So cold meds and hot tea here I come.

I think that's a perfect plan. When your body is sick - you need to rest. Get well soon my friend!

switching exercise around a little

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

I'm going to try switching my exercise around some.
I've been doing my yoga in the mornings then later in the day do my cardio and/or strength training. Some days I'm tired and so don't get as much of a work out as I should so...
starting today I did my strength training
this after noon cardio
and tonight relaxing yoga to help me sleep.
I think that will help me a little better with my weight loss.

I would think that would work out better for you. Get those muscles all activated in the morning to burn off more throughout the day. Good Luck!

You have come up with a good plan. I need to do the same thing as I am stuck in a rut. Keep us posted how it works for you.

That sounds like a great plan...plus they say you need to switch things up a little from time to time to get the maximum benefit. Thanks for the reminder!

Someone at the gym this morning helped me set some of the equipment a little differently so I would work different muscles. I hope I see a change.

fast dinner but very yummy

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I didn't have a lot of time for cooking today so tossed something together quick.
Surprise you can make a yummy meal in less than 15 min.
the meat is tilapia sautéed in a little butter and topped with mango salsa
I steamed the baby carrots and broccoli (seasoned with no-salt seasoning and lemon)
the rice is minute rice ( I know not best choice but I limited my amount to 1/2 cup)
The tomatoes and cucumber have a very light drizzle of raspberries vinaigrette
desert (not shown) 1/2 cup strawberry yogurt ice cream
Family was very happy with the meal and so am I.

Now the reason I had no time to cook was spent all morning at Dr.'s office with DH
Results of lab work was very good. Dr said cholesterol levels were excellent then looked at me and said keep up the good work.
MRI showed a tear in the knee that he wants checked by a bone & joint Dr. so will go Aug 5th for that. Until then DH is to use walker or cane. So more waiting on him and making him stay off his feet. UGH!!!

After getting out of the Dr's office 15 min before the tire place closed for lunch, got there just in time to get the air tank (for MIL's car that has flat tire) and rush home. Got her tire pumped up and made a fast PBJ (out of sandwich meat after DH made his sandwich first) to eat in car while following her back to town. She made it safe even though tire was getting very low again. Run grabbed some groceries and finished just in time to follow her back home.

Got groceries put away, paid neighbor for cutting grass, and took MIL's B/P.
Whew, almost a whole day gone and now you know why I didn't have a lot of time today.

Oh forgot to mention the figs I put up yesterday turned out very good but have to watch it they are loaded with sugar. I don't eat many, love to give them as Christmas presents.
Here is a pic. of them on the stove bubbling away.

You are one busy woman and those figs look wonderful! I've been meaning to mention the doily you have as a profile pic. It is beautiful! Did you make it? The handwork is maticulously perfect!

Loved the picture of dinner...isn't Tilapia wonderful - it cooks so fast!

still busy

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Seems like every time I turn around there is more to do.
This last week was full with a visit from Aunt Barb (we had a great time)

taking my DH back and forth to the hospital to have an MRI on his knee and blood work
then back for more blood work because the lab had an oops.

Rescued my DD when her car broke down and got the car to the shop. Just got it back today after $600 of work on the intake valves and hoses. What ever they are. I just know the car works again.

Throw in work, they got the windows fixed so I could put the books back on the shelves.
Also took care of 2 boxes of new books, now ready for check out. Those boxes were heavy but it made a great work out.

Put up some squash, okra, and am canning more figs tomorrow. In another week or two I'll start on the pear relish. yummy.
Whew add in house work and exercise and you'll know why I have not been on the computer much.

But you know what... despite all that I feel great and am sleeping well now.
Seems like I have more energy than ever.
Can't wait to see what this week brings

Thanks everyone & Aunt Barb

Monday, July 18, 2011

I want to thank everyone for your wonderful support
you don't know what it means to me.
Y'all are the best!!!!
I'm feeling better now
I wrote my letters and will burn them next Sat night.

I'm tracking my food now even if I didn't make the right choices
I think that will help me get back on track.
A big surprise was even though I didn't make the right choices Sat I found that I was still just within my calorie range. Wow, I didn't do as bad as I thought that day... but could have made better choices. The junk is back out of the house again and fruits and veggies have taken their place.

Now on a very happy note, Aunt Barb is coming to visit today and tomorrow
I can't wait.
She also helped to raise me (she lived at home with my grandparents at the time)
We always have a great time when she comes.
So if you don't see me much the next couple of days you know why.

Oh, I'm so glad that you are feeling better. We all have those sad moments. Even talking about it with your Aunt Barb might help.

Have you ever thought of writing a message on a Chinese flying lantern? Used traditionally to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year and gain wisdom and luck, they are also used as a memorial. I'll leave a link where you can buy them and a link on how to make your own if you are interested. It might be something you can do when your Aunt Barb comes.

Just a thought.
