A FIRST in my life

After 50 years of avoidance techniques ranging from: that's what kids are for....to maintenance is in the contract....it happened.
I mowed the lawn.
I'm a housekeeper by trade. I prefer to be inside cleaning...preferably someone else's house so I'm paid to do it. It suits me. I like it.
Mowing the lawn. I came from a big family, it was always someone else's job, and they always seemed happy to do it, and I was happy to let them.
Well, now I only work a few days a week. My husband works full time. We just spent the weekend out of town, it's Monday and my husband is back at work with mowing the lawn on his list when he gets home. Our workout time is squeezed in there to before or after tanning (geez, tough life, I know). So how can I sit home with nothing better to do?
I tackle mowing. I have to say the toughest part of the job is figuring out how to work the #%@* mower. I swear, that took a half hour in itself. I haven't quite got a handle on gas powered appliances, I'm used to the kind that plugs in. After quite a few frustrating tries, I dug out the instructions, thankfully my husband is organized and has all this stuff filed (alphabetically) and I was able to find them. I think the instructions were written for people who already have some background knowledge of how gas powered engines work. A few more starts and mis-starts, I finally got a grip how it works. It isn't the prettiest mowing job the lawn has ever had, but it isn't all that bad either.
I had my heart rate moniter on and here are the stats: Activity: 1hr 9 mins. Average heart rate 147 bpm. Peak 171.
Bodybug says I burned 293 calories and about 1500 steps.
Not bad.
After checking stats, I was inspired to pull out the weedeater and leaf blower but figuring those things were beyond me....for now.

Got 50 mins of walking in today. Had a 2 hr strength training/cardio workout in yesterday and plan to do so again tomorrow...so today was an easy day.

I was in my car today eating a fresh pear that I brought for part of my lunch. It was sliced, and perfectly ripe. YUM. Well~ you know how messy a ripe pear can be. ...I was driving down the road steering with one hand when I realized I didn't have anything to wipe my hand on. I couldn't believe there was not ONE napkin to be found in my car. UGH. I was wondering to myself how I could not have a single napkin in my car when they are usually overflowing from everywhere when I realized...IT HAS BEEN THAT LONG SINCE I HAVE BEEN TO A FAST FOOD RESTUARANT! Sweet! I was so tickled with myself, it was a badge of honor driving down the road holding one hand off the wheel. emoticon

A new day~A new start

Today has to be better than yesterday. Worked on taxes yesterday and everytime I felt the stress~I was reaching for some sweets. Today as I work on taxes, I will have a bowl of healthy muchies on hand: grapes or strawberries.
TODAY WILL BE A BETTER DAY.

  You can do it. stress is always a trigger but you will feel better eating my favorite which is strawberries. They also help boost the immune system which is compromised during stress.
