After 50 years of avoidance techniques ranging from: that's what kids are for....to maintenance is in the contract....it happened.
I mowed the lawn.
I'm a housekeeper by trade. I prefer to be inside cleaning...preferably someone else's house so I'm paid to do it. It suits me. I like it.
Mowing the lawn. I came from a big family, it was always someone else's job, and they always seemed happy to do it, and I was happy to let them.
Well, now I only work a few days a week. My husband works full time. We just spent the weekend out of town, it's Monday and my husband is back at work with mowing the lawn on his list when he gets home. Our workout time is squeezed in there to before or after tanning (geez, tough life, I know). So how can I sit home with nothing better to do?
I tackle mowing. I have to say the toughest part of the job is figuring out how to work the #%@* mower. I swear, that took a half hour in itself. I haven't quite got a handle on gas powered appliances, I'm used to the kind that plugs in. After quite a few frustrating tries, I dug out the instructions, thankfully my husband is organized and has all this stuff filed (alphabetically) and I was able to find them. I think the instructions were written for people who already have some background knowledge of how gas powered engines work. A few more starts and mis-starts, I finally got a grip how it works. It isn't the prettiest mowing job the lawn has ever had, but it isn't all that bad either.
I had my heart rate moniter on and here are the stats: Activity: 1hr 9 mins. Average heart rate 147 bpm. Peak 171.
Bodybug says I burned 293 calories and about 1500 steps.
After checking stats, I was inspired to pull out the weedeater and leaf blower but figuring those things were beyond me....for now.
