New job, new chapter

Monday, December 08, 2014

Depression roller coasters are no fun. In just 3 short months, I quit a job that was very very unhealthy for me, physically and mostly emotionally. I was scared to quit and take on the temp job that I was offered but the stress was slowly killing me. So I worked for 2 months at Antem (health insurance company). I was slowly feeling better but eating not so well. I still had the stress of maybe getting laid off at any time and "Oh my God, what am I going to do when this gig is up if I don't have anything else lined up." So I frantically started putting resumes out and going interviews like crazy. It took about a month to get a job offer and almost another month to actually get started. In the past, I always got hired on any job I interviewed for. I am now working at Humana (ok, well, my first day was today.) I was blown away by how much they push their employees to be healthy and to help us get healthy. This is perhaps my way finally to get to where I need to be. This will be an interesting journey!

Congrats on your new job!! I hope it goes very well. I just lost my job so I can relate to where you were at. It's very emotionally draining to worry. I'm very glad you are on your way and you are in a good place.

Congratulations with the new job!!!, emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can completely relate to the stress/depression issues around old and new jobs and how it effects your health, the stress to get laid of and it takes a lot of you. I am happy for you that you have a new journey with health conscience employes around you. Myself I am between jobs, almost found a job after 2 interviews, but I continue to seek and hunt further, maybe the new year will bring me one, who knows. Very inspiring to have someone who had the same issues as me here at Sparkpeople. Look how many others you can find just because we want to be healthier, slimmer maybe, living longer and feel good about yourself. Nice blog. emoticon

Finally stopped drinking diet pop!

Sunday, September 28, 2014

It has been 17 days since I have had a diet pop. I can't believe I finally did it. I have been drinking lots of water, teas, and Crystal Light. Crystal Light Fruit Punch tastes like Hawaii punch. So when I am craving sugary stuff, I drink some of that and it helps. I went back up to almost 260 a few weeks ago because I was stress and emotionally eating. I really dislike the job I have now, not really my job just the way things happen there. I found a new job and I have felt great since. I had horrid headaches foe the first 5 or 6 days of no pop. Not even coffee would help. I think it was the withdraw from all the chemicals, not just caffeine. So I am back down under 250,a number I thought I would never see again! lol So if I can stop drinking diet pop, so can you. I was so addicted. I was addicted to pop worse then I was cigarettes. It was easier to quit smoking then drinking pop. I feel so much better! You will too!!

Way to go. That is a hard one to break. I went a year without soda. Now I have 1 every few months, but mostly I drink water. Congrats on the quitting smoking also. I will be 2 years smoke free in November.

The doors at work are not working this morning...

Friday, August 01, 2014

And I am usually the first person that answers the phone for the front door visitors. My pedometer is getting a workout this morning :) I could be lazy and just let it ring to one of the other ladies but I am getting up everytime and moving today. Being under 250 lbs. I really motivating me to try harder for that next 50 lbs. dropped.

Weight Watchers Works!

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I haven't made a blog entry in awhile. Life gets in the way sometimes emoticon I started Weight Watchers Points Plus system on July 7th weighing 260 miserable pounds. I did my weigh in yesterday and I am down to.....drum roll please..... 245.3 lbs. Woot Woot!!!! Everyone do a little dance with me!!!!! lol Between tracking Weight Watcher Points, using the tracking on SparkPeople, and having my kids and my husband eating healthier with me, I have been doing fantastic. I got my husband to join SparkPeople and the kids have joined SparkTeens to keep them on top of healthy eating. They are both on the borderline of being overweight so we want to get this in check now so they don't balloon up like I did. I haven't been under 250 lbs. since i was pregnant 11 years ago with my daughter!!!

I agree! WW is a plan I believe I can stick with for life while developing healthy eating and exercise behaviors. I'm not losing quite as fast as you are, but I am steadily losing something every week. Life is good!

I'm so happy for you and your family! You are very wise to help your kids nip obesity in the bud NOW, rather than letting it get out of hand. I sure wish I'd been smarter at a much younger age! Keep up the good work!

Today's Inspirational Quote

"It doesn't matter what happens to you. What matters is, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to complain and shrink or are you going to step into your greatness?"
