The doors at work are not working this morning...

Friday, August 01, 2014

And I am usually the first person that answers the phone for the front door visitors. My pedometer is getting a workout this morning :) I could be lazy and just let it ring to one of the other ladies but I am getting up everytime and moving today. Being under 250 lbs. I really motivating me to try harder for that next 50 lbs. dropped.

With that attitude, you're probably the welcoming person the visitors WANT to answer the door.

Weight Watchers Works!

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I haven't made a blog entry in awhile. Life gets in the way sometimes emoticon I started Weight Watchers Points Plus system on July 7th weighing 260 miserable pounds. I did my weigh in yesterday and I am down to.....drum roll please..... 245.3 lbs. Woot Woot!!!! Everyone do a little dance with me!!!!! lol Between tracking Weight Watcher Points, using the tracking on SparkPeople, and having my kids and my husband eating healthier with me, I have been doing fantastic. I got my husband to join SparkPeople and the kids have joined SparkTeens to keep them on top of healthy eating. They are both on the borderline of being overweight so we want to get this in check now so they don't balloon up like I did. I haven't been under 250 lbs. since i was pregnant 11 years ago with my daughter!!!

I agree! WW is a plan I believe I can stick with for life while developing healthy eating and exercise behaviors. I'm not losing quite as fast as you are, but I am steadily losing something every week. Life is good!

I'm so happy for you and your family! You are very wise to help your kids nip obesity in the bud NOW, rather than letting it get out of hand. I sure wish I'd been smarter at a much younger age! Keep up the good work!

Today's Inspirational Quote

"It doesn't matter what happens to you. What matters is, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to complain and shrink or are you going to step into your greatness?"

Drinking calories

Monday, February 24, 2014

It is amazing how many calories you can drink in one day if you are not careful. I normally only drink coffee, brewed teas and water, occaisionally a diet soda. Today with my lunch I saw Ocean Spray Cran-Grape drink in the vending machine and that sounded awfully good and sweet. Lordy, it has 120 calories per serving, if you drink the whole bottle, that is 240 calories just in a bottle of juice! It is only 15% juice on top of that.

You are so right on that one! I am trying so very hard to not have any calories in liquid form. And "juices" are the worst. People think they are good for you, but they have as much sugar as soda.

Some of the numbers on drinks totally amaze me .... I stick to water .... saves money when you go out and eat also as those drinks also cost a fortune !! roc

I once drank orange juice while I was sick and couldn't believe that it was equivalent in calories to a typical lunch!! So crazy. Way to go with tracking it all!

Progress and Success

Monday, January 13, 2014

Slowly but surely I am making progress with the blood sugar control. I went to the doc in September and the A1c number was 10.5 which is extremely too high. Normal should be betwee 6.5 to 7. I went to the doc again on Jan. 3. She had put me on insulin and I got scared and depressed. I dropped from 277 pounds in September to 246 in November. I packed on 10 pounds, mostly because i felt discouraged and depressed because my blood sugars were what I though were too high. Granted they are high but the doctor is pleased that they are a lot lower then what they were. So I get blood word done at the beginnging of this month and I almost jumped for joy when the doctor told me I have my A1c down to 8. So the insulin is working. I was put on another pill and she told me when my blood sugar drops a little more and i lose 10 more pounds, I am going to back down my insulin dose. I have to keep reminding myself that diabetes didn't happen over night. It took years for me to develop this and it is not going to get better quickly. It all takes time.
