"I look good. I mean, really good.... HEY EVERYONE! COME SEE HOW GOOD I LOOK!"

This website is awesome. I enjoy logging in and tracking everything, watching my progress, making friends, and connecting with teams and the whole sparkpeople community. The articles are wonderful as well- by reading them every day, I'm not only better informed, but earn sparkpoints! I got my mom hooked on it too. We both compare how we did for the day, our daily goals, and our accomplishments when reaching the certain range of calories, fats, protein, and carbs for the day. We both are finding it hard to get the right amount of protein, so we're like crazy women making hard-boiled eggs, eating yogut, cheese, fish, chicken, etc. I kept asking my incredibly fit brother for advice (he's a hockey player and has the body of a superhero) but he shrugged, explaining that he could eat whatever he wanted and just work it off when skating.

That leads into my exercises. Running on the treadmill, dancing, and various strength workouts. I am trying to buy a bike at Walmart (this super awesome vintage-y looking mint green bike with a little basket). I used to ride my bike and scooter around ALL THE TIME, but then middle school hit and I preferred to be alone in my dark room with my dark thought listening to dark music and writing angsty diary entries. High school kept me busy in my room, with the only exercise being dancing in school, community, and professional musicals. Since joining the site, I am doing all of the workouts I listed and enjoying them thoroughly. I no longer dread the treadmill that has sat in the third story of my house for years, gathering dust. I work out on it and watch either the first season of Fringe or a superhero movie (judge me if you must, but they really inspire you to kick some butt!). I can see myself toning up already and, although I have not weighed myself yet, I can see that dedication to the site and progress is paying off! I can't wait ot continue to the next step, Healthy Habits, tomorrow! Have a good week everyone! emoticon

In the past couple of weeks, I have witnessed such a change in how my body reacts to exercise. I once used to dread getting on the treadmill or lifting weights or hopping on my bicycle. But, now I almost crave working out. It makes me feel so much better. Over the weekend, I skipped to days on the treadmill, but went up on Sunday to make up for that lost time. I could feel my body thanking me for putting it to use! It feels wonderful to step off the treadmill, feeling like you accomplished something rather than sitting in front of the TV. I hardly ever watch TV anymore. I only have a few shows I will actually sit down to catch. During my other time, I am working out or dancing. Hopefully I can keep it up this time. It's nice to have a website like this offer so much support. It definitely beats going into the world of healthier living all alone. :)

Hahaha thank you very much! I dance in a show I am rehearsing. And I know what you mean: if I were to dance at home, my puppies would go INSANE!! emoticon

Good for you! And I second everything you said (except, maybe, for the dancing part: when I dance, it drives my dogs crazy). But I have never been an exercise freak, and while I can't claim to be one now, I miss it when I don't do it. YOU ROCK!

i have an issue and that issue's name is the panera bread toffee nut cookie. it's SO good, but SO bad for me. hundreds of calories and fat from a small, sweet treat. i never realized how awful it was for me until i calculated it on this site. pretty nifty. now, i know to order an oatmeal cookie or a piece of fruit when i crave something sweet.

also, i tried out a chikcen curry recipe on here. it was DELICIOUS. i could not get over how good it was. plus it was made from scratch, not one of those boxed ones you can get at the store. very good, and low in calories and fat. i will definitely be making it again. emoticon

Stick with it. There's always better options on this web site than in your local supermarket

It's amazing the choices you will make when you know the nutritional information. Good decision!
