1 month!!!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

One month ago today, I quit smoking!! I can't believe it's been a whole month! I've tried to quit before. This time was so much easier to get through hell week, and I'm now at the point where I don't even think about the little devils at all unless someone asks me about it or I'm around it, which is pretty much never because I try really hard to avoid those situations. Like when my sister, my mom and I all wanted to do a girl's trip to Reno and hit the casinos, but then decided to have a girls trip in San Diego and hit the casinos there instead. I was soooo relieved! You can still smoke in casinos in Reno, but not in Cali :D A couple months ago, this would have pissed me off that they wanted to go somewhere I couldn't smoke. Now I'm thrilled! LOL

So I really think what helped me quit this time is:
1. Spark
2. focusing on getting healthy in all areas of my life
3. upping my water intake to like 50 billion glasses a day(it flushed out all the crap I was inhaling for over 10 years...like literally flushed, cause I swear I'm in the bathroom peeing ALL day!)

And the thing that helped me focus on number 2 and number 3 is NUMERO UNO!

This site really is super freakin amazing and I thank Spark and all you Sparkers who have been an encouragement to me and helped get me through my first month :)

New Shoes

Saturday, May 02, 2009

Today was so fun(minus the fighting, screaming kids in the car for an hour)...still fun. We went to a running store in Boise that my doc told me about called Idaho Running Company. They have this uber fancy machine that takes a snapshot of your step so you can choose the shoe that works perfectly with your individual step. So I found my, supposedly, perfect shoe today. Dude, they are NOT lying when they say your shoe can make or break your run. Right when we got home, we changed and headed for the gym. We jumped up on the treadmill, and I could immediately feel a difference. It felt soooo much better! I had been wearing the same tennis shoes for over 5 years...I know...gross. I took 1 minute off my 1mile, 2 minutes off my 1.5, and, GET THIS....FIVE minutes off my 2 mile!!! It was amazing!! I'm sooo gonna hurt tomorrow LOL

My new shoes are my new favorite thing I own :D They're Pearl Izumis Women's Cruise, and I highly recommend them if you have a neutral step like mine and like a little more cushioning.

Thanks for reading and hope everyone is having a fantastic day!

Laundry Day

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Like most people, I hate laundry day. I mean, with a family of 5, it's almost always laundry day, but there is one day of the week in particular that I catch up with ALL the laundry. And one of the things I hate the most is going up and down the stairs a freakin million times bringing it down and carrying it up...

...but today was different. I had NO problem carrying up all that laundry(even AFTER my workout) I was a smoker just 2 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago it killed me to do laundry! AND there was even more laundry than usual...and this was the part that amused me. I was HAPPY there was more laundry!! I was happy because the clothing that added to my already ginormous pile of laundry was workout clothing and a lot of white socks. My husband doesn't usually wear white socks. He's military and wears green socks everyday....he wears white socks when he exercises. I don't mind doing laundry so much now :)

On a different note, today I beat my record on my run! I'm consistently getting better and enjoying running more and more. My foot is bothering me a little (I broke it 2 years ago) and I'm going to see the podiatrist on Monday to get it checked out, but it hasn't stopped me yet. I was totally stoked about my run today! It's the hardest I've worked in a long time and I was pleased with myself lol

Thanks for reading and for the support...you guys rock!

Laundry is my nemesis and that's with just my clothes...I couldn't imagine doing laundry for 5! That's got to count for some extra calories burned, especially going up and down stairs.

Congratulations on quitting smoking. That's a really positive change.

Congratulations on your run baby!! I'm SO STOKED that you're getting healthier and stronger every day! I still think you're kind of a freak for being HAPPY about doing laundry, but I still appreciate all your work VERY much! You're amazing, you're SO smart about all these recipe/calories things that I just have NO clue about! Smart women are SEXY!! I LOVE it when you blog!
