been tough lately, but...................

Monday, May 03, 2010

i got my groove back last week and lost 2lbs. it's been getting so busy since spring broke. our boys are more active with extracurriculars and now i'm coaching t-ball. i think i may have found my balance. it's amazing how quickly your energy level saps when you deviate from your routine. that's been one of my biggest revelations. to all of you just starting out or not long into your journey, keep at it. like everyone says "this isn't a diet" . you can change your life, but it takes patience. you'll find all kinds of support here. USE IT!! be faithful to yourself and you'll get the results you seek. i'm about to hit the 40# lost mark and i've got a ways yet to go, but i'll get there. i really appreciate all of my sparkfriends and this forum to keep me focused. take care everyone, and keep the spark. -Brad

Back to work

Sunday, April 11, 2010

today was the last day of vacation. it's been productive though. i've gotten plenty of yardwork done and some of the nagging things my wife has been wanting me to do. i mean c'mon, it's only been 2 years that you've been wanting that cabinet door put back on. boy, i'm the worlds worst procrastinator. we had been planning on visiting some family in ohio this week. we didn't know that they were taking a last minute cruise though. it's just as well, because our oldest son graduated airborne last week and we had unexpected company from ohio stop in for an over-nighter. our oldest son is now stationed at ft. bragg so he's only about 3 hrs away from home. he came back home this weekend so it's been pretty hectic. i'm just glad that chores got finished and when i take vacation again in june, we can enjoy our time in myrtle beach.
my eating was alright during the week but i faltered some last night. i made pork chops for dinner and i couldn't lay off them last night before bed. that's why i gained about 1.5 lbs this week. well, back to the regular workouts and eating better. maybe i need to let the boys clean the kitchen after dinner so i won't be tempted to grab an extra this or that. lol. hope everyone had a great weekend. -Brad

I'm glad your son is only 3 hours away. Thats got to mean alot to be able to come home for a weekend.

And you know that's a really good idea about the kids cleaning up. Not necessarily the whole kitchen but at least make it their responsibility to take care of the leftover food. I gained a pound as well. I am stuck at that 180ish mark. Come on buddy we gotta dig deep you and me....Come to far to not keep going.

I am so glad that your son is close. I am sure that feels good to have him drop in. I am sure it makes Mom feel good too, and when Mom feels good, (Well let's just say, it is better for everyone, at least here, I am MOM :)) So I told your wife to Congratulate your son and I do know how proud you both should be feeling. Hey, and maybe with the small weight gain, you built muscle out on the yard work. :) take care Lynn

Awesome Easter!!

Sunday, April 04, 2010

i've been off since lunchtime weds. and don't have to work again until next monday. i got to see my oldest son graduate from airborne school. he just reported last night to ft. bragg as a new member of the 82nd airborne. i couldn't be prouder of him.
the wife told me to not worry about the outside chores today and get on them tomorrow. we had good friends from ohio pop in today and we cooked and chatted away. it's always good to see old friends. it was a great holiday for all of us and i can't wait to get after all the stuff i've been neglecting. it's gonna be a busy week, but it's supposed to be in the 70's and 80's all week. i hope everyone has a great down week. -Brad

Finally Spring

Saturday, March 27, 2010

i'm so glad that winter is over. this was the worst winter here in SC in over 30 yrs. i know everyone is going through it as well, but we don't expect harsh winters here. lol.
it's time to finish landscaping around the house and get plants in the ground. my wife and twins are out right now getting hair cut and i'm here with the two little ones. once they get back, i can take my 2 big boys and work in the yard some. tomorrow is supposed to be cool and rainy so i've got to get cracking today.
my oldest son graduates from Airborne jump school either this thurs. or fri. it all depends on the weather. we're all going to travel to Ft. Benning to see him jump in and graduate. not really looking forward to the drive though. it's roughly 5 hrs. i only work mon-wed this week and then i'm off until april 12th. so glad to get some time off. i've neglected too many chores around here and it'll be time to play catch-up.
i haven't done as well as i'd like with my weight loss for the past month but i'm still on my way down. there's been a couple of hiccups along the way but i just plug along. i miss interacting with all my sparkbuddies more regularly but i try to keep up with your blogs. just know you're all in my thoughts and i wish you all the best. have a great DOWN weekend everyone. -Brad

Hey Brad! Good to hear you're hangin' in so well. Must be proud of your son. I know it's hard to have them in the service. Ours just went back to Iraq after a short visit home with his new wife ( for some reason he didn't want to take the time to see us:) )
Anyway why are you reading this? You have yard work to do!

Beautiful weekend!

Sunday, March 07, 2010

yesterday and today has really given us spring fever. temps are in the 60's and no rain. we shopped for garden stuff yesterday and next week we'll be planting some flowers and strawberries. not sure what else the wife has planned for me. lolol.
it's been difficult to find time on here to keep up with everyone the way i want to, but everything has still been working. as of today's weigh in, i've lost 34lbs. my wife has been doing great as well. we both posted 5lb losses this week. woooohooooooo. i hope all of you are keeping your spark and shedding the lbs. i miss talking to you all and reading the blogs. i still read them but usually have to cram them in on sat. or sun. have a great week everyone and keep up your hard work. -Brad

Great job on your progress! It was really nice here as well, but they're calling for rain the rest of the week. But, the warmer temps sure are nice, maybe we can start dialing back on the thermometer, and saving a bit of $$$ in the process?
Have a great week on your WL journey!
