Welcome 2013! Time to set some goals!

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

Ah! I love a new year and all of it's promises! I am so happy that I started my journey and already have lost 20 lbs. I feel like I have a head start on the rest of the world!!

I went back to work, and when I did, I found I didn't have as much time to post here on Spark People. I have re-joined Weight Watchers as I know it works and I know how to do it!

I am still not drinking Diet Mt Dew and recently purged my house of it! I feel so good drinking water that I am not tempted! I am no longer taking any arthritis meds! I worried that once winter struck, that I might hurt, but I don't!! I haven't had a headache for several days, so feel like I'm getting over the residual affects of all that soda!

Don't know how much I will be on this site, but I will be back!

Back to work and Glowing

Monday, November 19, 2012

Today, I return to work!! I have been off since Oct 15 with pulmonary embolisms. I had such an awakening in the hospital and feel that I really am ready to make positive changes!!! I have been off of diet mt dew for awhile now and the headaches are getting better! Thank you God for always being good--even when we don't see it!

Congratulations. I'm wondering, have you considered having one small cup of coffee in the morning? Without that I get terrible caffeine headaches, but the the one cup keeps them away.

Small steps lead to big ones!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

My small steps yesterday have lead to bigger ones today! I tracked all of my food yesterday and today. I got my wellness results back from work and was so excited! My numbers improved so much in just two weeks!! Two weeks! It is incredible! (granted when I had my first test, I wasn't fasting and this time I was). Two weeks ago my blood glucose was 145. Now it is 86. Two weeks ago my cholestrol was 298. Now it is 200. All of my numbers were improved. In just two weeks!!! I cannot believe how much better I feel now that I am not drinking diet Mt. Dew. (I had been drinking around 9 per day). Yes, I am having headaches, and I crave it at times, but I feel so much better drinking water!! The biggest difference has been in my joints. I am not stiff anymore. It is awesome to get up from a chair and walk without stiffness and pain. That's the power of water!

Small steps do lead to bigger steps. Small steps bring us ever closer to our goals. Small steps encourage us and drive us to go after bigger ones. When we are encouraged, we can't help but spread that around to others.

The last 4 years have been the toughest in my entire life. My husband died suddenly, I got fired from my job, my brother-in-law passed away, I had health problems. I didn't care if I lived or died. I tried to fill the empty places in my heart with frozen pizza and candy bars. I drowned my sorrows in diet Mt Dew. I gained 114 pounds. I'm not in that bad place anymore. I have been clawing my way out of a dark pit. I am taking bigger and bigger steps and look forward to see what God has in store for me!

Building on a Small Victory

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

I haven't been on Spark People for several days. My mom and brother came to visit for a few days and it was just too hard to eat right! I have gained some weight back, my sodium is crazy, my ankles are swollen! Good grief!! I have been craving diet mt! dew like crazy, but, I did not give in!!! So, even though I ate stuff I shouldn't have in quantities that I shouldn't have, but, at least I kept up with drinking water. I will take this small victory (which really isn't so small afterall) and I will run with it!

First step today was to log in and spin the wheel. I'm off to a great start!

Saw my pulmonologist yesterday. Did not get cleared to go back to work just yet, but he did write me some new prescriptions so hopefully I can get this cough under control!

One step at a time, Julie! One step at a time!!

Good for you! Soda's are HUGE. I am on my 27th day of no sodas and I still jones for a diet coke, BUT I feel better.. not GREAT, but better. And I have not felt BETTER in a long time. I look forward to feeling good and then GREAT, but I will take BETTER today. You sound like you are in control, even if you fall off the path, you understand which way to go! Good good job! All the best!

Outside influences are just that. Outside and out of our control. I always ask myself if I am less important that my current surrounding and the answer always comes back NO, NEVER. I have yet to find anyone who objects to my taking care of my "housekeeping" chores. In fact, they admire the dedication. Hang in there.

I've had a few days like yours, with company and not having time, etc. I did the opposite though, I under ate. Neither is good. I have not weighed myself, nor am I going to, until I've got a few good days back. I am not giving up, either, and I know that emoticon

If there's one thing SP has taught me, it is to take 2 or 3 things and work on them. We can't change everything at once. The fact that you kept from drinking the Mtn dew WAS a big victory. Others will follow, just give yourself time.

When you get thrown off the horse, you just climb back on and ride. I broke my arm skiing and then went back to it the next change I got. I tore my rotator cuff skiibng and went right back to it. Call me crazy but you can do it!

Sometimes life gets us off track of what we are trying to accomplish. The two good things, you drank ,water and you are picking yourself up and getting back on track.Good for you. It is like writing a paper for school, getting it back, seeing where you went wrong and rewriting it, to make it better. I use to drink diet sodas too. Now if I carve one I will but one, but only one. I had one that sat here for a month , I opened it and drank half of it and the rest sit here for a month and I finally threw it out. I have not even wanted one. Keep going we can do this.If you have bad days, just pick yourself up and keep going. emoticon emoticon
