... WHOA ... tell me it's going to get easier!

... Ok, tonight was emoticon of my CE 90 day program... OMG!!!!!... it was s-o-o-o-o-o hard emoticon

I know that I have not worked out in about 3 weeks so this is understandable, but this workout was brutal emoticon... This is probably why I sold it the first time... (this is my 2nd time around with this program). Don't worry, I am not going to do that this time, I promise... but someone please tell me that the program, although challenging, won't make me feel like I am going to die each time I do these workouts!!!! emoticon...

The good part is that the sessions are not long, and most will average 35 minutes or so, it took me 45 minutes to complete circuit 1 because I had to push "pause" a few times just to catch my breath. The moves that are really rough for me were:

- Lunge with Posterior Fly

- Push-up's (... no leg lifting here)... I am not able to do push-ups well right now, even on my knees, but I am modifying and I do feel like I get a good workout... hopefully in time I will be able to do more... "my wrist hurt when I do them"... "has anyone else experienced this, and if so, did you find a way to make performing the push-ups easier on the wrist?

- Fwd-Lean Lunge w/Dbl Arm Post. Fly

... my shoulders are the weakest part of my body and even with 5lb weights it was so difficult for me to raise my arms... the problem is that for the lunge I could probably use more than a 5lb weight, but for my arms 5lbs is too heavy for the posterior flys, period!


- should I use the bands until I get stronger?

- should I just use 3lb dumbbells until I get stronger?

- I think that I am going to have to use a pre-workout supplement for energy... Sue, Chana... "What do you think?"

I didn't do cardio today because I was absolutely spent after this workout... however, I did get a pretty decent calorie burn, here are my stats:

Time: 45:27
In zone: 26:00
HR Rate: 145/181 / 87/108
Calories burned: 346 / 30% fat burned

Cardio is the "Yang" to my "Yin"... tomorrow's cardio will feel like a walk in the park... looking forward to it...

    Ms. Dee...

I suggest no weights and no bands. Why don't you spend time just getting the moves right? If something is too challenging, we will stop. Simple as that.

If you begin more slowly, even it it means repeating Burn Phase, that is good. On those pushups, please do bended-knee, or on a ball. It's all about modification until you get there. That may also mean, doing 3 in their goal of 12.

Stick with it, no weights, no bands and MODIFY. If you can't do the lunge with the fly, then just do the lunge or the fly. It's progress, not perfection.

I wish I was there with you, we could work it together. Thanks for your advice to slow it down to heal. I am officially feeling better. Perhaps in the morning, PERHAPS... I will try 15 mins of yoga. Thanks for the advice.

BTW... I still only do 5 regular push and 6 bended knee. It's so hard I want to cry... and I do.

    I can't stand the posterior fly work! I do laterals instead. I have a good excuse though - the posteriors tend to flare up an old tricep injury. Go lighter on the weights to get through it!

    Lighter weights until you get stronger. I have to find my posts for my first time around and share them with you. I was CUSSIN' Chalene the whole way through. emoticon

I use to tell my sister that if you have the energy to do cardio after CE then you're not doing it right. Now I go for 30 min walk/runs after each circuit.

It WILL get better (just not this time round emoticon) emoticon

    I only know it does get easier and you have to push thorough it. Learned that watching the biggest loser. I personally have no experience doing it. lol Good luck, you will be fine. Keep me posted on the updates. Go YOU!

I am starting my 90 day Chalean Extreme strength training program today and as always I must be accountable and share my starting stats, no matter how depressing they may be! emoticon... ok here goes:

Weight: 165.5 (9/11/10: 160.2... +5.3lbs) emoticon


Waist: 33 (9/11/10: 31.5... +1.5)

Lower waist: 40 emoticon

Hips: 42.5 (9/11/10: 42.0... +.5)

Thighs: 25.5 (9/11/10: 25.0... +.5)

Calves: 15

Neck: 13

Breast: 34D

... there you have it, now you know what I am working with and trying to work off! emoticon

... it begins @ 5PM this evening... "both dreading and looking forward to the workout! emoticon

I have been MIA for awhile because of some health issues, but I am primed and ready to start anew... I am still in my 90 day challenge with my team "The Heartbeats", I am a month behind, but that's ok, I have 2 more months to go...

I am starting a 90 day strength training program called" Chalean Extreme. those who are not familiar with it, it was created by my shero Chalene Johnson, the creator of Turbo Jam, a kickboxing/dancey cardio workout series... well, she has kicked it up a notch. Here is an outline of the program:

Burn Circuit 1 (36 minutes)
Burn Circuit 2 (38 minutes)
Burn Circuit 3 (32 minutes)

Push Circuit 1 (33 minutes)
Push Circuit 2 (35 minutes)
Push Circuit 3 (35 minutes)

Lean Circuit 1 (45 minutes)
Lean Circuit 2 (39 minutes)
Lean Circuit 3 (38 minutes)

... so I will start with Burn Circuit 1 tomorrow, and alternate with 2 & 3 throughout the week. I have an exercise calendar with all the circuits outlined for the full 90-days. I also have log sheet of all of the exercises and weights that I will be using, so that I can keep track of my progress, jotting down notes as I go along. I will also alternate cardio with Turbo Fire, another of Chalene's program, that consist of high intensity cardio and HIIT workouts.

Both are very challenging workout, but I will start out with lighter weights in the beginning so that I don't burn out or over-train. The movements of the exercises are precise and slow so as not to create momentum keeping the work totally concentrated in the specific muscle worked.

I am looking forward to this challenge.... Tomorrow I will post my starting weight and measurements, I know that I have gained some of the weight back that I lost, but that's ok, I will just move forward and not look back with regret...

~... up and running, finally!...

I am finally up and running... wow, what an adventure.... I took off work today so that the tech from AT&T could come out, he finally made it @ 5:30pm! Basically, he did most of the work on the outside line... changing my phone connection to a dryloop, internet only one. That took about 30 minutes... when he was done, the indicator lights for the dsl/wireless connection were still blinking red emoticon... he said since the office was now closed since it was after 5PM, I may not get a connection until tomorrow!... He told me to try to get a connection and follow any prompts... ok... first I rebooted my gateway and powered it up again and all the red lights turned green.... YAY... so I went online, but ran into problems logging in. I called AT&T support technical support line, I give them credit for being very helpful in this area of service... I spoke with Terry and he guided me through the PW change and registration pages, etc... This took about 45 minutes... ok, so the internet is up and running, but I was still not getting a dial tone from my phone...

I pulled out my Vonage information and found that I had to turn off everything, my gateway and the Vonage box and hook them up in a specific way. The first few tries were frustrating, as I forgot that the 4 phone lines that I had in my home from AT&T were no longer working, but the phone in the kitchen rang... well, I certainly didn't want to talk on the phone only in the kitchen, so since I have a cordless phone with 1 extension, I removed the corded phone from the kitchen and replaced it with the cordless one... I put the main phone in the kitchen and I then got a dial tone on my extension phone in my bedroom... so with Vonage, there is only one working phone jack and you really have to have cordless phones in order to have multiple phones unless you have Vonage install additional phone lines, they even have instructions on how to install additional phone lines yourself online; I am going to investigate this... The only down side I can see with Vonage is that when the electricity goes out, so will my internet/phone connection so I will have to keep my cell phone charged...

... now for the final bill from AT&T!
