~ Whew... having fun with AM cardio

Sunday, January 09, 2011

... I envision myself looking like this while hooping

... but I know I really look like this

I did hooping again for my AM cardio... I hope I can keep this up. It seemed harder to do this morning. I used another dvd wokout by Hoop Dance, and although the workout is beginner's level, it is a faster paced workout. I really couldn't keep up with her because the bigger the hoop the slower the rotation. I have a deluxe hoop... no fast hooping today! Being a travel hoop I can reduce the size of the hoop, but it is harder to do and right now, I am just trying to learn the basics.

I really enjoyed this dvd and the instructor is very good at pacing you through the workout, on some moves, like hooping in the opposite direction, she even had a hard time keeping up with the hoop. I am not going to worry about hooping in the opposite direction. She also did movements like side to side, modified grapevine, marching and marching with knees up... the only one I can do right now is the side to side. After each instructional segment she has a little "Dance Party" combining all of the moves, than back to more instruction. This is a really fun workout. I don't know if I will ever learn how to do those moves, but I will have fun trying to learn them!

~ Hooping...my new love ~

Day 7 - 1/8/11:

PM Cardio: Hooping: Waist introduction

Stats:
Time: 25
In zone: 17
HR: 142/165 / 85/99
Calories: 187 / 35% fat burned

This is the hoop that I bought; a travel hoop by Hoopnotica:

I am just learning so I started with the "Warm up" and the "Waist" exercises. I did this instructional section about 3 times or so... It covers the "points" that the hoop touches, how to stand in various positions, how to turn, how to walk with the hoop, forward and backward...

I was pleasantly surprised that I kept the hoop up as long as I did. The only reason I stopped at times was because of my increased HR, and yes, it is a very good cardio workout. I am going to try to hoop a little every day. I love the way it feels, being able to keep the hoop on my waist and how it works my waist and ab muscles. I am loving it!... I will keep you posted on my progress.

Starting weight:1/2/11: 172.2

Well, I feel encouraged. I am still trying to get the nutritional part of my diet together, mainly, eating all the macros I need to eat per day. My aim is to be able to rotate between menus that coincide with my workouts.

... still a work in progress, stay tuned. ~ Dee emoticon

~ Day 6 & 7 ~

Day 7 - 1/8/11: AM Cardio: Spinning @ home with Cardio Spin

www.spinning.com/spinning-shop-video
s/default.asp

I haven't done any spinning in awhile now because of pain in my left foot. Well this morning I was able to do the full 40 minutes. I did have some pain, but I paced myself to make sure that I had good alignment and that my foot was in the correct position on the pedal, that seemed to help.

I used some weighted gloves, but I don't know how many pounds they are or if they are even 1lb. This is a slow paced workout, that allows for proper form and movement, the weighted gloves make the workout more challenging.
