The Supreme organic garden

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Who knew gardening could be this easy?!! I'm just thinking of planting a small garden in an area where I currently have flowers surrounded by wood chips. Boy, am I ever glad I watched this before taking up all those wood chips! At the end, he talks about how many more nutrients we get from this type of gardening. It's phenomenally simple.

We can go nuts for nuts!!!

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Breaking news! You know how we've been told to eat nuts for their great Omega-3s, but to watch it, and eat no more than a scant palmful because they are high in fat and will therefore stunt our weightloss efforts? Well...studies now show eating LOTS of nuts do NOT make us fat...at all!!!

Guess what does....

Happy Birthday to me yesterday, and Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus today!

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

The really important one is today, so Merry Celebrations to you all on His behalf. I hope it is as joyous a day for you as it is for me.

Yesterday was a quiet celebration of my 68th year on this earth, because the ice storm made the roads a bit treacherous for travel. But that was OK--I thought I'd have a quiet day of reflection, but my family and friends had the phone ringing all day.

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with all my favorite dishes--huge prawns bathed in garlic butter, baked potato with butter and sour cream--they were small so I had two, green beans and white wine! Ta da! So good! Even though I can see the Spark dieticians shaking their heads. I'll be good again...tomorrow.

Then I thought of some things I still needed to get done before Christmas, and decided, "Nope, not on my birthday!"

It's so nice to reach the age of "I'll do it if I want to, and if I don't, well...."

It's wonderful to be in such good health that I actually forget how old I am, and have a tendency to refer to others my age as "the elderly," not considering myself a member of their group.

I'm just truly thankful for life, in all its colors and textures. I'll take it all...all that I can get.

Mandela, Rest in Peace

Friday, December 06, 2013

What can I say? Only that I am so grateful to have lived in this era of so much positive change effected by so many people. But Mandela has always been beside Martin Luther King as one of my heroes.

What a gentle, strong man. I can't even imagine how hard my heart would have been after being purposely, unfairly jailed for 27 years of my life's prime. I would have come out swinging. He inspired millions to do the right thing.

A friend who recently returned from South Africa said he could not believe how peacefully and genuinely cordially everyone of every race treats each other there. Oh boy, could we in the US learn something about softening our hearts after legislation has changed our way of life. Maybe some day...

Many of Oprah's guests say that we have been sent here for a purpose, that our job is to find out what our purpose is and to carry it out. I'm still trying to figure out what mine is.

Apparently Mandela did what he was sent here to do. And he did it well.

He was one of the greatest men to walk the earth. Like you, I can't imagine going through his experiences and coming out the way he did! I wish he could help us in the US....we certainly need it!

I'm so grateful for the huge feats he accomplished.
