Great 1st day of the Summer 5 % Challenge

We got off to a great start, and I know we're only going to pick up steam because I want to land this plane!

I did my 120 minutes of exercise, and I plan to repeat that at least today and tomorrow. Spreading it out makes it quite do-able, I find.

Now a family trip to Moes for burritos and to Stone Cold Creamery later could have derailed my efforts, but after all that effort I was putting in--no way! I ordered a Jr. size chicken burrito and loaded it up with kitchen-sink veggies and the smallest cup of coffee ice cream--that I ate only 1/3 of later as a snack.

Must have done OK because I swear my stomach seems a little flatter today...Could that possibly be true? Nah! ....Yes, yes it IS true. I'm believing it, and it's going to be flatter tomorrow!

    No question that the ability to turn away from the high calorie stuff is key! We don't have to be perfect, just consistent.

    Hey girlfriend...now THAT'S the way it's done! Lots of exercise can always offset a few tiny splurges here and there. I'm proud of my 45 minutes yesterday and I'm hoping to squeeze in more today...shouldn't be a problem because it looks like a stay inside type of day...it's raining buckets here in FL. I'm off to plan a nice healthy low cal soup for later. Got my 40 minutes in so far on the treadmill...she's becoming my new BEST friend. emoticon emoticon

    I plan to repeat the 120 mins too in one way or another! My hubby wants to take a day trip, last minute of course, so I will have to keep reminding myself to stay on track and not eat everything he does! Drinkinglots of water!

    Great article!!! Thanks for sharing it. I got out the door & started up the mtn. today before I could talk myself out of it or get swamped w/work! It was totally awesome. Heard some wildlife walking on downed timber nearby, but nobody but hundreds of beautiful butterflies & me (& a lot of scat from various critters ) on my path. Endorphins were swimming in my bod!!!!

I've been buried in non-stop health insurance mistakes, transporting 40 miles DH to/from PT 3 times weekly (but my gym is within 2 miles of the PT...so I have been doing ST, thank goodness.) and trying to keep him on the sofa to heal.

Other than my stress-laden volunteer job, I'm out of excuses and hope to return to a more active life & can the "poor me, I really need some chocolate" song 'n dance routine! You'd give me a boot if you were here! lol

You will undoubtedly reach your 5% goal...you are made of pure steel determination. Your team is lucky to have you at the helm. Go, girl, go & keep us posted as you fly through the skies! !

Wanting to post my goals for the Summer 5% Challenge, I began reading some of my earlier blogs to see what earlier goals have been. It's a great thing to do. I find that some "new" things to try have become regular habits now--like exercising 120 minutes a day at least 3 days of the week. That's the most we can log for a day in the challenge, and it's become one of my best weight loss boosters.

I want to incorporate into my Summer goals the "one word" I adopted for the year 2012 in January--ACTION.

Since winters in Michigan are a time of hibernation for me, summers are the natural time for outdoor activities.

Besides tracking my meals each day, and making a big effort to stay within my calorie guidelines, I will:

Put my feet on the ground in some kind of activity for at least 60 minutes each day; some I think I'll enjoy that will be a step up from my winter activities:

Running (slow)
Walking with poles
Walking to the grocery store and back carrying a few groceries
Pilates outside
Yoga outside
Meditation outside (no exercise min., but great to do)

Ready, Set, Go! Let's get this challenge party started!!!

    It's SO true...every little healthy habit that we replace with unhealthy habits take us closer to our dreams and goals. I'm right there with you on your action plan. I'm committing to at least 30 minutes on our treadmill daily...even if I have to do it in 15 minute intervals...our life is a mile a minute..but you HAVE to schedule health time..otherwise it just doesn't happen. Hugs to you dear Teddy friend...I'm cheering you on throughout the entire challenge! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
