Can`t Lose Focus Now.....Not So Soon

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Finally blogging! Been thinking about doing this all month.

I`ve been doing pretty well with the exercise and eating since Jan 1. Did well with the getting to bed and sleeping for about a week, now I`m slipping back to my old ways, going to bed late emoticon

I ate badly today, I really have to have my foods all prepared (cut up, make batches for lunches etc.). That helps me keep on track. Speaking of tracking I have been tracking all my food & exercise pretty well every day!

I did lose 5 lbs...now I`m stuck! Stupid scale, One of my Sparkfriend`s wrote a great blog and challenged others to put away the scale. I have read about weighing in less often as well. I`m going to weigh in on Feb 1 and then not again until my trip (Feb 22).

I am going to go back to Week 1 of the Sleep Challenge and keep the journal. I have to get back on track with the food prep & portioning (I have time this weekend). I`ve been getting to the gym about 4x per week for classes. I will continue that....it does make you feel good! I think I will increase weight trng over the next few weeks too.

So I`ve got a couple positives and can see a couple negatives trying to slide back in. Not gonna happen!

Less than a month until my trip to Bahamas!! I want to lose at least another 5 lbs or should I say....fit into my clothes better by then!

    Whenever you feel yourself slip...

Think about what the results are and what they feel like.

Then tell yourself - "If I stick to my goals I will get my results. If I stick to my goals I will be doing me a service".

Then tell yourself - "When I get my goals I will be so proud of my self. Sticking with my goals makes me proud even now".

There - don't you feel better? Don't you feel proud of you for sticking with it?

And if you do accidentally slip - it is not the end of the world. The key is in catching them slips:)

So - stick with it, be proud.

Back At It

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

I'm making a lot of changes and getting back on a regular schedule of proper eating and exercise. It has been a long....long.....time since I last blogged.

I took a break from the gym for the summer but am getting back to it starting tomorrow morning. I will do strength training at least 3 times/week. I am continuing with the walking, outdoors as long as it is good weather. I am doing a virtual walk for the month of Sept. I'm walking from Oshawa to Niagara Falls, it is 119 miles.

I joined a new team called Lose 10 by 10/10/10

I am tracking all of my food and exercise once again. I quit drinking beer and will only have a glass of red wine with a seafood or pasta meal. I will eat fish at least 3 times/week. I will eat smaller portions. I am following the GI Diet and sticking to it. I am drinking 8-10 glasses of water/day. I am going to get more sleep each night.

Zumba - First Time

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Tonight the gym was offering their first ever Zumba class. There were probably about 30 people there (1 brave guy) no one had ever done Zumba before so we were all in the same boat.

The time flew by, we only did 40 minutes and according to my heart rate monitor I burned 300 calories. That works for me! Usually 30 minutes on the elliptical burns 230 - 250 calories. It involved a bit more shaking which caused a bit more jiggling than I'm used to.

I don't usually go to the gym in the evening nor participate in a class, I like working out early in the morning, on my own, but I must admit I enjoyed it. I really love that style of music and I like the challenge of trying to learn the steps and keeping up even if I don't look that graceful. Its good to mix things up a bit, as they say, "Variety is the spice of life!"

After the class I saw a friend from work, that's another thing about going to the gym in the evening, you run into a lot more people. Anyways I told her about the class, she introduced me to a friend she was with and the three of us made a deal to go to the class again next Wednesday! I think it will be even more fun with a couple friends.

We have a local zumba class also but I bought the zumba disc set and tried it last night, when I got a few minutes while little one slept, and I LOVED it. I was about 15 minutes into it and heard the little one crying so had to stop. But I can't wait to do some more.

Riding the Rollercoaster

Friday, January 08, 2010

I'm climbing back up that hill again, it seems I have gained four pounds on this out of control runaway rollercoaster car. It really is like a rollercoaster,

its so hard to go uphill, it inches up slowly making that clicking sound. Its so hard to choose the right foods and the right amounts and stick with it. Its hard to fit in the time to exercise and to do it consistently.

Then the rollercoaster hurtles downwards spiralling with so much speed, one bad food choice leads to a bad day of food choices and not going to the gym one day becomes 2 days, then I don't do the bootcamp, don't drink the water, don't eat veggies....can't you just feel the car picking up speed as it descends the track faster and faster. I know it was only 2 days and I am getting myself back on track quicker than I used to but 4 pounds?!!? That's a lot, its been months since I lost four pounds. I know its not all about the scale but my clothes are getting tighter and snug again.

I know......... don't be hard on myself but jeesh I was doing everything correctly for a 6 day stretch then 2 bad days and BAM!!

I have to tell myself baby steps, stick with it, start small, work up to more, it took a lot of years to get to this weight so its going to take time to lose it.

So....today I

** Went to the gym
** Burned 500 calories
** Did 60 minutes of cardio
** Had 5 freggies
** I was actually below my nutritional amounts (not good I know)

I just took a quick break from writing my blog to do:
today's bootcamp video
25 crunches
25 squats
25 bicep curls
25 tricep extensions
25 hammer curls

Now I'm going to have my cup of green tea and will take a vitamin with it!

So I just didn't get my water all in.

The rollercoaster is clicking up the track ever so slowly and lets hope those 4 pounds are what comes hurtling down this time!
