Off to a running start

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

Okay, so actually it isn't starting until tomorrow, but its close enough. We are doing a 'Daniel Fast' at our church to ring in the new year. I'm SO excited! Not only will this really get me moving in the right direction spiritually, but physically and nutritionally as well.
And I am SOOOOO ready for that!
I decided that I wasn't going to try and keep track of anything over Christmas, just eat in moderation and try to be reasonable with the sweets and other goodies I knew would be there. I had a lot of fun with my family and a great Christmas. I'm sure I put a little of any weight I lost back on, but seeing as I haven't even weighed myself since my initial starting weight, I wouldn't know! LOL!

So, we are starting our Daniel Fast tomorrow. It will be modified, since I have four children to keep fed and I am not comfortable cutting all meat and lots of other things out of my diet abruptly for the next 21 days since I'm nursing. We will be on a vastly different eating regimen, though. I can already feel myself detoxing after all those cookies...Whee!

All the extra water and veggies and fruit will definitely jump start my weight loss and start us off right in a new healthier lifestyle. I am committing to getting healthier in 2011, body, mind and spirit!

Praise God Who makes all things new! I look forward to feeling like a new person in and through Him!

You've got to be kidding me

I was doing SO good!
It was the hiccups' fault - 4 Tbl of peanut butter (at least) threw my fat up off the scale and my calories over my limit. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

And of course, what my tracking doesn't show was all the chicken I snitched before, during, and after dinner. Oh, man, that roasted chicken...crispy skin, sweet orange flavored meat, so juicy and succulent, falling off the bone... It proved more than I could resist after a rough day.

And now DH is requesting popcorn and a Christmas movie... one of my favorite things....

Oh, Self-Control, where are? The blasted peanut butter ate up all the calories I could have had to snack on! Come rescue me, please!
We'll see....

Just remember, if you have a rougher day than you'd have liked to not let it snowball into the following day. Pick yourself up and start again. From personal experience, it's when I feel I've already blown it, then I allow myself to repeat that vicious cycle.

Here's to a great day for you today!!!! You can do it! :)

Doin' the happy dance

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Dang, three days in a row? I can't believe I'm still staying in that calorie range - I honestly thought it would be one day on and one day off, but so far so good. Of course, we leave for the parents house in just a couple of days for Christmas festivities. There's always a ton of junk food - so bad, tastes so good - laying around. I know I'm going to be tempted. I'm hoping that a few sewing projects will keep me occupied enough to stay out of the kitchen unless necessary. Baby girl could use the jammie pants we cut out and the jumpers. Little guys could use some more jammies as well, so I may tackle some of those, too.
Spending less time hovering around the kitchen can only be good for my eating lifestyle.

Anyone know how to count calories from going up and down a million flights of stairs? Our room is in Mom's attic, so we do a lot of stairs there. Hard on the ol' tendonitis hip, but good exercise!

Aww, you just brought a sweet memory to mind. My mom would make my sister and me flannel jammies sometimes and I she'd let me sew on the buttons which made me feel so awesome. I'd do my best using a ton of thread to make sure they'd never fall off. On 12-27-2000, at age 55, my mom passed away from cancer complications and I'm always trying to think of happy memories this time of year...
so thank you for the happy memory :-)

Hope you have a blessed Christmas!

It's a miracle!!

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Oh, I WISH!!!

I stepped on my scale this morning and it read 130 lbs. WHAT?! What happened to the other 90 lbs of me?!
*sigh* I guess its time for a new scale, huh?
I suppose it may have something to do with my kids jumping on it last week to see how high the needle would go up...

Haha! How nice would that be! :) We're about to have to invest in a new scale as well. My 9 month old has used ours as a drum which makes it quite cantankerous (the scale, not the baby). Too bad, I've grown to kind of like this one. Lol.

I did it!

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Today was the first of what I hope are many, many days within my calorie range. I had a great day today - not only did I manage to stay in range, but I also found out my local library has a copy of 'The Spark', which I reserved and will pick up the moment it is in. That means I can read it without having to buy it! With a tight budget, that's always good news.

I still can't exercise until my hip heals, but I feel like I am finally on my way! Hurray!
