Once in a great while a fairy tale comes true! Yes, I met my Kansan husband through Spark People.

We met each other by an accident of fate through a mutual Spark Friend (you know who you are). The tie brought us together was that Greg is an outdoorsman and I am a nature lover. We began corresponding through email and long phone conversations which eventually led to my Kansas man flying to Ohio to meet. Love and a marriage proposal followed.

A couple of months later, I packed my car and took McGee to Kansas to live. On August 29, 2011, we were married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

There were many who said I was crazy and a handful who said to follow my heart. My heart was right.........I am the happiest woman in the world! We live each day enjoying the simple things that life has to offer. I have learned that there are never any guarantees in life and I don't want to be a spectator in life. Call it what you like...........Greg and I were meant to be!

Just a short, fun blog....

I had to buy a new vacuum cleaner today. I got it home, opened the box and took out the contents to put together. The box fell on the floor while I was screwing the handle on.

This kept Elton entertained for quite some time. McGee kept looking in to see what Elton found so interesting. Since there wasn't any food in the box, McGee wasn't impressed. Elton, on the other hand, had a playland!

CAT THERAPY

I have tried to find justification and relevance for writing this blog to our general health and weight loss issues. So, I went online to make sure that I could justify sharing my story: "Research has shown health benefits of laughter ranging from strengthening the immune system to REDUCE FOOD CRAVINGS. . . . . ., among other things."

With this in mind, I thought it would be fun to share a couple of stories about my new cat, Elton. I have never owned a cat before, always dogs. My father was not a cat lover and neither was my husband. Now that I am on my own, I decided to get a cat. I wasn’t quite up to speed on the day to day life and antics of a cat, but I have been finding out there are many. Some I find endearing, others, not so much!

The other evening, while I was stretched out on the couch watching a bit of TV, I heard what sounded like the raging hooves of a stampede coming my way. It was Elton! He streaked before my eyes, leaped on the table in the corner, put on his brakes, skidded across it and smashed his head into the wall and fell off. I laughed so hard that I almost peed myself…..and mind you, I was all alone!

The next evening I was filling the dishwasher, turning my back now and again to gather dishes. Evidently I missed the part when Elton decided to explore the dishwasher more closely and I shut the dishwasher door. As I was wiping off the counters I heard a muffled meow. I looked around and listened again. It was coming from the dishwasher! I opened the door and out marched Elton. It was a good thing that I wasn’t planning on running the dishwasher AND that I stayed in the kitchen long enough to hear his plea! I laughed all the way to the telephone to share a laugh with my daughter.

So the real reason behind this story is to share my ignorance regarding cat behavior and how I am learning that Elton is bound to make me laugh on a regular basis. This is a good thing for me! I could use some more laughter in my life, but then who couldn’t?!

Christmas Spirit

I have had the privilege of meeting a very talented young artist during the last few months. He and his bandmate are in the process of recording in Los Angeles with a grammy winning producer. I am so excited for him. He sings and plays keyboard. I thought that I would share this uplifting Christmas song, written and performed by Mister McKoy.

Snowed In

For anyone who would want to venture out to my house this is what you would encounter upon entering my driveway.

For those of you who live in a warmer climate and want to experience the snow up close and personal, bring your 4-wheel drive, a snow shovel, a sled and warm clothes. Temperature is around zero degrees. I will have the cup of cocoa waiting for you!
