All I can do is learn from my mistakes.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

After having a spectacular loss earlier in the week, my weight jumped up again as I fell off the wagon! Once again those busy days where good food is hard to come by. Went to a workshop, the lunch was lasagna and white buns! No salad, no veggies, no fruit, no water. I'm thinking of making up a stock of fresh veggies to carry along with me.
Also, one day didn't have enough to eat in the day and got ravenous around 6 and overate. I am now carrying a fibre bar and will buy some protein bars for that 4 o'clock sugar drop.
As I change, my weight should go back down.
I think the only thing I can do is learn from my mistakes and keep working at it.
Off to Zumba thismorning. The exercise is going well!!!

You are making great lifestyle changes! The weight scale doesn't always reflect that accomplishment - it's only one of many tools!

Keep up the great work! I liked what you shared today.

From morbidly obese to obese!

Monday, February 07, 2011

A 16 pound loss, my BMI has gone from Morbidly Obese to Obese! Unfortunately like the large number of points between spark trophies, I have a long way to go yet to get to overweight. My goal for this year.

Kicking the scale to the curb!

Tuesday, February 01, 2011

I've had it. No longer stepping on the scale everyday. One day it's up, one day it's down, mostly it stays the same.
I'm going to use staying in my calorie range, blood sugar monitoring and recording my fitness instead.
I get weighed on the 18th of Feb at Curves and then I'll change my weight and measurements on Sparkpeople.
Threw my 50 year old scale (yes that old) way under the bed.
All these years it has never helped.

BTW, sugar was good this morning, one bright side.

I wrote the same thing in my blog a couple days ago! I put it in the closet and will weigh the last Saturday of the month. Even when it's good news it seems like I think "Is that all???" It is not healthy for me to focus on numbers. If I follow the plan the weight will come and I can focus on all those other things I notice, like running up stairs faster, clothes getting looser... Good luck.

Tossing a scale to the curb is a great idea. It can be very frustrating doing a daily weigh in. I did that for months....could see a pattern of my ups and downs.
Now I weigh in once a week and may even change over to a monthly weigh in.
Besides if you weigh in at curves you can work out the frustrations if the number doesn't move. But always remember this is just a number, not who we are, what we are accomplishing and only a small part of our journey to a healthier lifestyle. Have a great day, stay positive, keep moving, eat healthy and smile. emoticon

Get a new scale... You can get a good one for as low as $20. I have the biggest loser scale and it only cost me $19.99.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Galas have a gala amount of calories

Sunday, January 30, 2011

For the first time, I added up the calories I consumed at one of the fancy charity dinners I attend. WOW.
Now understand, I didn't have the cake dessert or the cream soup or any appetizers.
Roast beef, approx 9 oz, nice veggies including asparagus, mashed potato and mashed, plain yam, a glass of wine, half a flatbread with hummus(nice touch that) and a salad all came to a whopping 1213 calories, half of that beef!!!

And today I learned, even though within calories, what a mild session of emotional eating costs --over 600 calories.
Well at least I'm doing well at breakfast. Staying in my range.
It pays to log your food, even if you don't do well. I am learning a lot.

You are learning and will find that you can learn something new every day! Keep up the great work...using that nutritional tracker and soon you will be staying in range all day!!! Do not give up even on the days you don't do well. It will get easier
