I haven't disappeared!

Monday, January 30, 2012

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been as active on the boards or challenges lately. I promise that I haven't stopped my workouts or watching how I eat. Things have been crazy so I haven't had a lot of time to get on here and post.

Thanks for all of the warm birthday wishes. My injury is healing up a little at a time and I hope to be back up and at 'em again soon.

I've been helping to lead our apartment complex's Annual Biggest Loser Contest - it's been fun knowing that I won the contest last year and have kept the weight off. I hope that I can inspire others to do the same. And I really love that our property manager set up a team on here for the participants and has encouraged them to utilize the many resources that SP provides.

My photography business is taking off a little at a time, which is enough for me. We're planning our first family vacation in a long time for the last week of May. We'll be heading to Walt Disney World to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts. There's a special event one morning that Daisha and I are going to then we'll catch up with my hubby and son later in the day. The rest of the time there will be spent as a family. And we'll even get a couple of days in with my dad, stepmom, and little brother. The kids are so excited to see Mickey Mouse in person - and it's given me great leverage to get them to behave. LOL

I promise that once my injury has healed I'll try to get caught back up and more active on SP! It is because of the friends I've made through SP that I was able to lose the weight and have been able to keep it up. That makes me want to keep helping to motivate each of you while you work to meet your weightloss goals!

January 1st and Back on Track

Sunday, January 01, 2012

Well, it's no surprise that the holidays were a flop. Actually, I didn't overeat, but I still managed to gain back 5 lbs. I will admit that it was because I caved and started drinking Coca-Cola again. : ( But today I followed through and got back on track. I just got home from shooting photos for a 6-hr wedding so I haven't had any workout time today. I did manage to stay on my feet for those entire 6 hrs though.

So it's time to set some goals for January:
- do at least 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week
- do strength training at least 3 days a week
- get in my 64 oz of water everyday

That's going to have to be it until I get myself back in the swing of things... Let's do this!!!

Week 1 - UGH!

Saturday, December 10, 2011

I wish that I could say Week 1 of December was successful. Unfortunately, it's been anything but successful. Here are the goals I set for myself:

December Goals:
emoticon1. complete at least 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week
2. complete strength training 5 at least 5 days a week
3. 64 oz of water everyday
4. no more than 8 oz of soda 3 days a week
5. be more active on my SP Teams

The cardio workouts I have done haven't been anything high-impact, so they don't really seem to be having much impact. I didn't even come close to meeting my other goals for the week. My water intake has been better than it was last month, though it's been coming mostly from eating ice. LOL I'll be on the road for 9+ hours tomorrow with my neighbor, so I don't expect to get much of a workout done. We're driving up to Auburn to pick up her grandson. Keiran is riding with us and Daisha is staying at home with her teenage daughter (who Daisha loves) and husband.

Next week has to be a better week!

Jamie you have come so far!! This is the WORST time of the yr for staying on track and focused on ourselves because everyone else matters more!! The season of giving and unfortunatly the season of giving ourselves as well which takes time we would normally spend on ourselves!! Dont beat urself up so much, you should tone down ur goals for the season and pick them back off when the new year hits!! Dont worry about it so much becasue if your busy that means your still moving and THAT does count for something just watch the goodies your nutrition so you dont go overboard!!

Jamie, this is only one week in your journey with fitness. You are doing SOMETHING which is better than doing nothing. Don't beat yourself up too much. Just put in what you can and make it count.

I have a long road trip ahead of me at the end of the month, so I know how car rides can be. I hope everything went well for you and Keiran. I know my kids tend to get antsy after a while, especially Anissa (age 7).

You will rock it this week girl. I have faith. emoticon

Girl emoticon but just remember December is one of the busiest months of the year for all of us. So maybe you might need to cut your goals down to 3 a week and just rotate them and remember you can only do your best, no more, no less.

Hang in there and happy holidays.

December Goals

Sunday, December 04, 2011

It's that time of month again... time to set some new goals. November was an awful month - between getting sick and crazy schedules, I did very little all month to stay productive. I know now that with the holidays, scheduling a workout is going to be a necessity.

Here are my goals for the month of December:

December Goals:
1. complete at least 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week
2. complete strength training 5 at least 5 days a week
3. 64 oz of water everyday
4. no more than 8 oz of soda 3 days a week
5. be more active on my SP Teams

You can totally make this happen Jamie. I think your body was just shutting down since you've been crazy busy for months. Hint: Burning the candle at both ends will result in SHUT DOWN!

Glad to see you back up and rocking now. I needed some more butt kicking cause I'm just not getting enough from Jacque emoticon emoticon emoticon

Still Alive! - with lots of new photos

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Okay... I figured since I've received several messages from a few SparkFriends as to what happened to me, I should jump on and post a blog. LOL I am still here, alive, and kicking (well, kind of). Getting sick at the beginning of the month really threw me into a tailspin. I've managed to still get in some basic cardio, though nothing to brag about most of the time. But pretty much everything else has gone downhill for the last couple of weeks. I've even resorted back to my old friend Coca-Cola over water.

I know now that I really do need SP and my friends here to help keep me on track. Today is a new day and time to get back on track. I refuse to gain back the weight I've worked so hard to lose through the holidays.

On a positive note, I got our tree up and am working on booking some holiday photo shoots. I did some test shots with Daisha and our neighbor's granddaughter over the weekend and got some fun shots.

And we went to see Santa at Bass Pro this past weekend. Daisha totally gets that Santa can't be everywhere at once and that many of the guys in the stores are just his helpers, but she swears, after seeing this particular Santa for 3 years in a row, that he is the real deal. And who am I to argue with a 7-year old about Santa Clause!?! LOL This wasn't a productive trip to see Santa since neither child wanted to cooperate by the time it was their turn (neither one has much patience right now) so Tony ended up in the pic with them. It's a good thing I managed to get some good shots of them elsewhere in the store - Bass Pro is always a fun place to take pictures!!

Jamie, I for one, along with my girls Jess and Jacqueline, are glad that you are alive and kicking. I know that the pressures of doing too much can definitely make you shut down.

However, don't make me have to drive to ALABAMA (girl, if you knew how much I didn't like living in AL you would understand this threat emoticon) and kick your booty. You had better not undo all of your hard work. So, get your lips off of that Coca Cola can and get to chugging down some emoticon.

Jacqueline threatened to kick my booty last week, so I thought I would just follow her lead.

Love you chica. Get it together though...I am just saying a trip to AL would not be pretty. Keep that in mind if you get the urge to sip on another Coca Cola emoticon emoticon

There is a guy that works at our Target that looks just like Santa...and his name tag says "Santa". It's cute, but it's created about a million problems with Casey...little Sheldon doesn't understand why he's working at Target, gets lit that the Santa at the mall is the "wrong one", etc. I thought her head was going to explode when the poor guy got a second job at Lowe's... :)
