Happy Independence Day Everyone!!

Happy Independence Day everyone!!! Just got back from the parade! It is terrific to see the flags flying high, hear the bands and to applaud our service men and women keeping our independence safe for us to enjoy! Our parade even had a bus full of WWII servicemen. The dogs had to stay home. Too hot here for black dogs in fur coats in the sun. They are wearing their red, white and blue scaved today. Have a terrific day!!!! Happy 4th!!

Quick, easy yummy snack ideas

I have found two things that are helping provide a low calorie healthy alternative for the munchies.

1. As a substitute for ice cream in the evenings, try a frozen banana with a tablespoon of chocolate syrup. Just slice up the banana and pour the chocolate over the top.

2. A substitute for nachos or chips and salsa. Dip raw cauliflower in your favorite salsa. Great crunch and a great way to add two more veggies to your diet. emoticon

Great Week!

I have hit all my nutrition goals this week. Partly because I gave up my glass of wine with dinner, also I have been tracking closely and making good choices.

I have also walked everyday. 30 minutes Monday night and 60 minutes last night. The dogs are my motivation. If I sit on the couch they stare at me until I say let's go for a walk. Then they are all happy and ready to go.

Woo hoo!

Woo hoo!
I lost two pounds this week! All in a very stressful week. I have started to make changes slowly as I am in this for the long haul. They say this is a marathon not a sprint. I didn't put this weight on in one weekend, it will take longer to take it off. I tracked every bite I ate, cut my glass of wine at dinner and made sure I drank my water everyday. This week I add walking 3x a week with my big dog who also needs to lose weight.

It was beautiful in Milwaukee yesterday and spent the whole day outside planting flowers, strawberries and tomatoes.

Looks like another beautiful day today. I am trying another Spark recipe for rhubarb crisp. We tried the chicken enchilada casserole on Friday and it was delicious.
