Today, I would like to honor my brother. He is such a kind, caring, and loving person. Plus, he keeps my computers working! He has also helped us fix smaller things around our house as needed. I appreciate his help and his humor. He is a great guy.

3. ME . . . I had my annual physical and I am busting my buttons with self-pride

A1C started @ 12 (Jan. 2010) NOW (1-12-12) 4.9!!!!!!!! (Oh, this is the measure of your blood sugar over a 2 mth period of time. The top of normal is 6.0, so I definitely wasn't in a good place @ the start of this journey!)

FBS started @ 330 (Jan. 2010) NOW (1-12-12) 75!!!!!!!!!!
(The range for normal is 70 - 99) So I am really proud of 75.

Lipid profile (way out of range in Jan. 2010) NOW (1-12-12) ALL NORMAL

In my journey I have gotten off my diabetic med (ActosplusMet then Metformin), my cholesterol med (Lisinopril -- generic Zocor).

Weight . . . 4 ft. 10-1/2 in. and I was 192 lbs. (Nov. 2009). NOW 100 lbs., which I've maintained over 1 yr. now.

Woot! I am happy to be in the land of health and don't plan to venture out!!

Libby's Honor Challenge 1/5/12

Today I wish to honor my dad. He has encouraged and supported most of my decisions in life. I know that he wanted a different job for me, but he suported my choice to become a teacher. He taught me to drive a manual transmission. He drove me back and forth to college for four years. He has built and repaired numerous things for me over the years. He was there to comfort me after two car accidents and two trips to the hospital. I don't ever remember a time that he has not supported, comforted, and loved me. (Yes, he set and reforced boundaries when needed.)

Since he has retired, I have seen a new side of him. The volunteer jobs he has taken have surprised me. He is such a caring and compassionate person. I love you, dad.

Your Dad sounds like he was cut from the same cloth as MY Dad. So, here's to honoring my Dad.

Always there. Always supportive. Always knew which boundaries were important to enforce and when to "let it go". I'm still trying to learn that one! Talk about a WONDERFUL cook! He taught me a lot about the art of making a really fantastic meal out of what you have on hand. He taught me TONS about the value of repurposing things -- I can't tell you how many pieces of furniture I helped him refurbish! Dad is my hero!! Here's to you dear Dad!!!

Libby's Honor Challenge 2/4/12

Saturday, February 04, 2012

Today, I am honoring my mom. She is amazing. She has survived so much. Through it all, she has been so caring and giving and compassionate. Many times growing up, we did not see eye to eye. I didn't understand some of her decisions. However, maturity and hindsight have shown me that she always had my best interest at heart. Today, her decisions make sense.

Mom has always been there for me, and my friends. She continually encourages me to try new things and to follow my dreams. She set boundaries when I needed them. She comforted me when I thought my world was or would fall apart. Helped me when I needed help and stepped back when she knew I had to do something myself.

Today, she is my mom and my friend. As I parent my own children, I remember her example and hope that I am making her proud. I love you, mom.
