I did it

Saturday, October 03, 2009

I have been watching the biggest loser and have been motivated by their ability to put in some serious time at the gym. Granted they are isolated and don't have the added stress of work and family, but it still takes dedication. Those that go home and lose weight are even more of an inspiration since they do have all the stresses I do. I did a spin a thon today. I figured I would do 1 hour since I am used to spinning for that long. But after the first hour, I figured I was still feeling okay and if the biggest loser contestants can work out for that long surely I could! So three hours and fifteen minutes later my legs felt like jelly and I wasn't sure I would be able to push the gas peddle to drive home, but I had worked out like a fiend. I don't think I would be able to do that everyday due to real life intefering, but I do feel accomplished that I spent 3 solid hours on a Saturday in the gym and I survived!

Wow--great for you! That's a serious workout. I agree that the BL contestants are an inspiration--although as you hinted at, a sort of misleading one since they ARE isolated to the point that working out is all they really need to focus on. It's a great idea to think that at least one day a week, we might all be able to put "real life" on hold for a bit to take good, good care of ourselves, push ourselves beyond our perceived limits, and gain confidence and pride in what our bodies can do!

Nice work!

Getting Back on Track

Saturday, August 08, 2009

Since bootcamp ended I have been working out faithfully, but it has not been the same. My eating has been atrocious and I can tell I have gained and not lost. I did climb Mount Fuji and realized that I am not as fit as I thought. You can tell you need to lose weight when you would rather have pictures of the places you've been rather than a picture of you at the places. I am determined that I will lose the weight before my next birthday (gives me a year to do it slowly but more permanent). Thankfully bootcamp starts back up in September. I would like to be less than when I ended in June rather than higher so I have a month to get my butt in gear!

Me time

Sunday, April 12, 2009

I am on duty so no workout today. Instead I am staying home and doing the things that I can only seem to do on the weekends...cleaning, laundry. Usually I cook for the rest of the week, but I will be going on vacation on Tuesday so it is just a matter of getting my place cleaned so that I come home from vacation to a clean apartment. I don't know that I will have access to a computer where I am going so it will be challenging. I have gotten so used to logging in my food and exercise. So I'll bring along a journal...how technology has made us so dependent! It is getting warmer here so I can tell I am doing the water retention thing...my hands and feet are swelling. So am trying to increase my water intake and watch my sodium. It will be interesting to see how I do on my vacation!

I hope you have fun on your vacation. My husband and I are going Misouri on the 19th of April will be back on the 25th of April. I bought a small notebook to carry around with me on my trip so that I can keep track of my nutrition. I plan on getting plenty of exercise while we are gone. We are going to Branson. I plan on hitting as many of their museums as I can and of course go to several of their shows.

Marking progress

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Yesterday did a physical readiness test. I have been doing one every month and as much as I hate doing them it is nice to see the progression month after month. I have never really had an issue with being fit...I used to joke that I am fat fit. The weight is what I always struggled with. I can't say I hate working out...it is finding the time to do so. But carving out time to get in my workouts has aided in improving my scores. My weight is finally starting to come down a bit. I think my body wanted to make sure this was for real. As I keep repeating in my head when I am jogging...slow and steady wins the race. So too for my weightloss.

Isn't that the truth... Slow and steady wins the race... this is your journey.. enjoy every minute of it... it will take you over hills, around corners and then there might me a few break downs, but you will get to where you want to go... have a great day, and you should be proud of your accomplishments thus far... emoticonSondra

Bouncing Back

Thursday, April 09, 2009

Another indication on my increased fitness level...I seem to bounce back sooner. The hot bath and copious amounts of biofreeze also helped! Did a challenging spin class tonight and still feel energized. I remember when I first started spin and thought that I would never make it through. It is nice to see the improvements.

I love biofreeze but even better I like this stuff called the blue stuff. It even comes in a roll on so you don't get it on your hands. I think you can check it out at bluestuff.com if I am not mistaken.
