Been busy in my garden.

Thursday, May 09, 2013

I have been very busy in my yard lately, and here are some of the beautiful birds I stop to watch. This hummer was taking a bath at the top of my fountain so cute.

An oriole

The roses are blooming

The Lavender is getting ready

Fuschia

My Ginkgo tree

My cherry trees have cherries, so happy! Hope to get them before the birds.

Extra plants for the vegetable garden

Corn, I do need to thin this.

So this is what I have been doing lately. Hope you have all been doing well.

Wow!!! I would love to come over to sit and talk among your flowers. My favorite is the hummingbird pic. I tried and I tried, but I could never get my picture to come out. I'm going to take a photography class at the local college over the summer. Then maybe I can share some nice pics as well.

Thanks for sharing. It made me smile and gave me some inspiration to get busy in my garden. I'm kind of behind. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Your photos of your garden plants and trees are awesome! It makes me wish for more property that is not shade covered. It makes me want to take advantage of every spot I have in which I could plant, and maybe be more creative and diverse in my plantings. Have you ever counted the variety of what you have growing? When I was at the greenhouse I bought more False Sunflower because I love the foilage and the flower and it did so well for me its first year. And I thought, be brave and try something new so that you have lots of variety to enjoy, but after 10 minutes of putting something new in the cart, and then out again, I chickened out and threw in another pot of False Sunflower. Peep.

Have a Happy Easter

Friday, March 29, 2013

Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Easter, and share more spring pictures.
My porch swing has wisteria blooming right next to it right now, great scent of Spring.

Cherry tree.

Ground cover phlox

Lilacs

Tulips

My garden buddy in the garden, that's ok there is nothing planted there, yet!

I have been burning the calories lately in my garden, pulling weeds, moving plants around, so happy I am still able to do all this. Thanks to Spark all the info and help, I am still out here.
Hope you all have a beautiful Easter. Hugs to all of you from me. Jackie

A Touch of Spring.

Monday, March 11, 2013

First a spark quote I like.

Was feeling kinda sluggish today, probably because of the time change, so I went outside in the sunshine. Was a beautiful day, here is what I saw.
Daffodil's

A goldfinch stopped by, just as yellow as the Daffodil.

Plum blossoms.

Peach

Tulips

Blueberry blossoms are so pretty.

Even had a scrub jay stop by. He is building a nest next door.

I did do some work while I was outside, moved some boulders, all my strength training has helped me, yay! I was tired when I went in, but it was a beautiful day and it made me feel better. I hope you like the pictures, Spring is on the way. Hugs to all of you.

The Geese are still on the move!

Monday, February 11, 2013

I heard the Geese again, this time I had my camera, hope you can see them.

Was able to get pictures of other different birds, I think this is a Nuthatch, not sure, she was fast getting seed and flying off.

This one looks like a Warble, not sure though.

Junco's I think, they had a sweet song.

other birds

I hope all the Geese I am seeing is a sigh of good things to come, never heard so many and they fly at night, and very early in the morning.

This is a great quote, reminds me I am not too old, I am out there doing things now that I did in my 20's, maybe slower, but I am out there.

Have a great week everyone, have a new adventure. Hugs to everyone, Jackie.

Thank you for the lovely bird pictures. I love to hear the geese as they fly above honking out encouragement to each other - sort of like us Sparkers! We had a couple of noisy pairs land in our pond this morning. I think they were feeling a little frisky...
I think your second bird picture may be a titmouse and the third a chickadee.
Also, thanks for stopping by my blog,Something to Ponder, and commenting.
Have a great week!

Love the birds Jackie :) The geese are somewhat confused with the crazy weather going up and down. I'm feeding my little critters everyday out there, and they know I'll be there :) The snow is really beautiful in your background picture too. Makes everything look so fresh and clean. I've always loved the snow, I'm a winter baby too so maybe that's why? Good to know another bird lover. That warbler also vaguely resembles a female cardinal too. Beautiful pictures though, thank you Jackie :)

Under the geese, the second bird might be a chickadee. Yes, spring must be on the way!

I like C.S. Lewis. Great quote.
Did you see the colors of the Geese? Or were they two far up. I love watching Geese fly.
Not sure what type of bird the 2nd photo is. Maybe a Titmouse, or a Flycatcher? It's cute!
The bird hanging upside down looks like a Mountain Chickadee.

We have them here too. They are real playful birds.
That is a Dark-eyed Junco, or Oregon Junco. I love their feathers when the sun hits them. They glisten.
The others are Lark Sparrows. Looks like you have a great variety of birds. Love all of the pics!

I love the quote! We are only as old as we think we are so I am still around 25 even if my drivers license says I am 47. Maybe it is as inaccurate as the weight on those things! hahaha!
I loved the pics of all those birds. I love the little junko's. I think we have those as well as little chickadees that look somewhat similar!
I still think those geese are making their way home to Minnesota for the spring. Let's hope so anyway.
Thanks for posting those wonderful pics and I hope you are having a great Monday.
Hugs, Holly

Do you think the geeze are going to Florida to get away from the snow? That is always so special to see that and love the birds in your yard! Bob saw a pair of bluebirds yesterday in our back yard..they stopped on the electric box on the way to the pond. He said it was the brightest blue he ever saw on the male! We have seen a couple Ospreys on their nests here on top of light poles. One day we saw one chase an eagle that got too close to the nest! It was so cool!
Yes, we are not to old to make new adventures! I wish I had been as active back 20 years ago as I am now! emoticon emoticon

Enjoyed your bird photos. Is it the type of bird feed that you put out in your yard that brings so mant different types of birds that are indigent to your area?

Hope that snow melts fast! Love the quote. Enjoy your day.

Beauty in everyday!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

These past few days I have seen some beautiful sunrises, too cold for me to go on a bike ride but beautiful.

Beautiful mountain views.

These mountains are toward the desert.

Because of the frost and I think extreme cold I lost quite a few Plants, but today I found a few that did very well, my Primrose.

Viburnum, looks good, so does the Rosemary.

We have also been having some great Sunsets every night.

I am finally feeling better, probably because it finally warmed up and I was able to go out. I really like being outside, can't wait to get out on my bike again.
Another Spark quote I love. I try to enjoy everyday, and to find the beauty that surrounds me, and I was able to take pictures to share. I hope you find beauty everyday too.
Hope you enjoy my pictures, I wish you all the best and happy days.

There it is! I finally get to see the blog! A little late, but better late than never! I have been so busy lately- I am in Spark withdrawal! emoticon
Love the primrose! Sorry some of your plants were lost. Here in FL it is either the extreme heat that gets ours or the occasional cold snap! Love those sunrise/sunset photos too!! emoticon emoticon

The photos you took are really something to enjoy! Thanks for sharing them. The Primrose is so pretty. I have one remaining primrose plant that the rabbits didn't get and it is the same color as yours. It already had buds on it earlier this week but with the foot of snow overnight I am less optimistic over its blossoming this Spring.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and for your support. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures Jackie and another great quote! I am so glad that some of your plants survived the cold. I hope it was the majority of them! I will send wishes for warmer weather for you and hope that we in Minnesota can warm up to at least 25 to 35 degrees above zero! That would feel like a heat wave!
Have a wonderful weekend! emoticon emoticon Holly

Beautiful pics. Love seeing the plants. Where I live there is not much rain so the plants do not do good unless you really watch out for them and have water for them. I don't do well, so stopped trying to grow plants. I do enjoy seeing your's. Thanks for sharing.

so glad you are feeling better. I know it will be no time before you will be able to go on the bike ride.

Hugs, Judy

Breathtaking sunrise - you get beautiful cloud formations there! Your viburnum is fantastic and how I wish we could maintain primrose here.
Your page background looks like such a peaceful walk, too.
Right now I can here visiting geese honking overhead on their way to today's feeding ground - we might not have them much longer as we are consistently getting a little warmer here. Enjoy the day in your corner of Paradise!

Wow! Great pictures! Love the primrose and the gorgeous sky. Your rosemary does look happy and healthy and your viburnum too! I had a huge rosemary bush and one year it just up and died on me inexplicably. I loved it and miss having it but am hesitant to plant another if that kind of plant is going to be so fickle under my care. lol Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures!
