Fall 5% Challenge-Diet Commitment

Tuesday, September 02, 2014

Well, going through the checklist for this Fall challenge I have to put in writing also my diet commitment.

~Do you know what diet you will follow?
The meal plan I'll follow (don't like to use the word diet) is basically calorie tracking using the SP app which I absolutely LOVE. emoticon
Keeping total of carbs/day up to 120-130 gm.
Eating more clean, limiting wheat, sugar, dairy. (Dairy and sugar I think aggravates my eczema & rosacea) No chocolate! emoticon which definitely worsens my skin.
Eat a fruit 3x/day, salad for lunch and dinner veggies and a protein. Nuts like pumpkin seeds, almonds or pistachio nuts 1x/day about 15 gm. Healthy fats like avocado and hummus, yum.

~Found some recipes?
Using basic recipes I keep repeating since they're simple, clean and have a few ingredients.
Such as a crock pot salsa chicken I make on weekends then use the chicken for dinners, salads or wraps for lunch.

Grocery list?
Do you have the food on hand to get started?
~Shop and meal prep on Sundays.

Have you followed this diet before?
~Yes, so far working well although still playing around with the # of carbs/day that works best.

Did you post your Fall 5% Challenge Diet Commitment on your Spark Page?
~Yep! emoticon

Can You Lose 100 Pounds in One Year?

Monday, December 30, 2013

This awesome blogger 'Fit to the Finish' just posted a great blog titled 'Can You Lose 100 Pounds in One Year?' She actually did, and listed tips and advice that are very helpful! She is proof that if you are determined you can lose weight and get healthy. I just went back to her blog and it looks like the blogger changed the name of the title of her blog to 'How Much Weight Can You Lose in a Year?' not sure why but perhaps she wants every person to know they can lose weight in any amount of pounds not just 100 pounds.

Just had to share with you, enjoy! She is very inspiring. emoticon

Best wishes my sparkfriends for a new year full of good health, laughter, love, happiness and many new memories to make! emoticon
Let's make this new year 2014 a year of determination and SUCCESS in achieving all our goals! emoticon emoticon

Winter 5% Challenge Commitments

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Since I had success with a fall fitness challenge I did I decided to sign up for a winter one to lose 5% of my body weight. Our first assignments are to put down in writing our commitments. emoticon

~~~Winter 5% Challenge Exercise Commitments: emoticon emoticon emoticon
Cardio-Interval training with inclines walking on my treadmill, 3-4x/wk, 30-45 min
*Edited 1/5/14: Strength training-was going to do Chris Powell's fitness plan but will do my own training with my home equipment
~~~Winter 5% Challenge Diet Commitment: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Calorie cycling-using a modified version of Chris Powell's 'Choose to Lose,' like adding a fruit to my afternoon snacks on the low-carb days, I love my fruit!

Veggies at most meals;lunch, snacks, dinner, in form of salads I take to work and roasted veggies for dinner, hummus and baby carrots, red bell pepper

Water-10-12 cups daily

Avoiding as much as possible...sugar!! It's so addicting and though it gives me that temporary 'sugar-fix/high' I always feel crappy the next day. emoticon

Looking forward to a fresh, new year, aren't we all?! emoticon

Fall Fitness Challenge Results and Feeling Proud

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Totally forgot to update with a blog the results of the Fall Fitness Challenge my team 'Just Do It'. emoticon It was a 9 week challenge which I started off with a bang in September, hanging on in October but pulled through at the end. I haven't done a team challenge as long as this one since I was on the BLC teams.

My goal was to lose 8lbs and I'm happy to say I LOST 10.4 lbs. emoticon

I did a dietbet game during the challenge and am finishing up a second one on Tuesday. Those games really help too to stay accountable. I may do another one because I am really want to see the 130's. My body just doesn't want to leave the 140's. For my height 5' 1" that's too high and my blood pressure has been creeping up so I gotta push HARD now and emoticon My kids deserve a healthy mom and I'm the sole financial provider at this time.

I have gained 20 lbs since 2 years ago, but I have kept off 30lbs off since. I lost almost 50lbs in 2010. I get angry at myself at times for yo-yo'ing and not reaching my goal weight (story of my life but that's another blog/story).

I have to remember, and we all have to remember, as I wrote on my intro of my sparkpage to be PROUD of all our accomplishments big or small, and not beat yourself up. I've maintained 30lbs off for 2 years!! emoticon

The theme song 'Proud' of the Biggest Loser show comes to mind right now!! Listen to it when you want to feel proud of yourself!
