A day off!

Friday, June 08, 2012

I chose not to track my nutrition or concern myself with exercise (unless you count chasing a 3 yr old around for 7 hrs). I enjoyed taking my son and his family out for pizza at a pizza buffet, and I totally enjoyed every deviant bite! I also enjoyed spending the day with my grandson! I did have to chase or carry him much of the day. The rest of the day I spent driving! Ah, well, it was a very nice day off.

That sounds like a very nice day. I occasionally allowed myself days off, and I think that was very wise in the long run. Good for you!

Sore

Tuesday, June 05, 2012

Okay, I worked out 2 days in a row and OUCH!! I forgot to walk the dog yesterday (ran out of time); so today she's gotta have one. I'll be "hitting the gym" (on my Wii) again today. I know I need to let my muscles rest in between, but I really haven't thought about setting a schedule for workouts yet. I just want to get in the habit of making myself do it! I'm guessing two days on and one day off would be good. In that case, all I really need to do today is walk the dog... Hmmm.... Input?

I'm using Gold's Gym Cardio for Wii. I'm guessing that since it's cardio I should go ahead and do it today then. I'm thinking about adding yoga afterwards for my stretch.

They recommend working out different sets of muscles if you are working out 2 days in a row...You need to read up (I am not an expert on this) but plenty is available on this site.
Cardiio can be every day.

I think it's good to do at least a short workout almost every day but to work different muscle groups. As in one day concentrate on abs, the next legs, the next arms, etc. I try to take at least a mile walk daily just for fun in addition to any harder cardio I do during the week.

start. stop. start. stop.

Here I am again. I'm starting over. I so enjoy my workouts, and knowing that I'm doing something good for myself. I don't know why I let life get in the way of it. I really just need someone (besides my husband) to help hold me accountable so I can feel like I'm being challenged. I'd love to train for a 5k someday. I guess right now I just need to get some momentum and keep going strong.

Consistency is so very hard. Life just seams to be distracting sometimes. We ALL struggle with this. Just keep going! emoticon

are you wanting to walk, ride or run a 5 k?

I am having neck surgery on Wednesday and as soon as I am done I'm suppose (I hear) get up and start walking. I have already walked several 5 and a few 10 Ks in m life but I'm way out of shape and would happy to "viturally" train with you :) (i'd be walking!)

Don't feel alone...I think the 'start, get lazy, start, stop, start, get distracted' thing happens to all of us.
I have had a big boost by putting my 'fitness minutes' on my TICKER....if you do that, I will stop by your page and encourage you to meet your monthly goal emoticon
As you can see on my page, emoticon June is having a slow start for me!

Commitment

Monday, January 30, 2012

Lately I've come to realize that I have a problem commiting to things. I'm great at starting! I go into all sorts of projects with gusto! Then I seem to get distracted by something else, or I just get bored. I've seen this in myself with many hobbies, projects left unfinished, and even my marriage.

Today I am writing this blog in order to hold myself accountable. I not only want to commit to my health and well-being; I need to! If I can't commit to myself I'll never be able to commit to anything or anyone else!

So, in the words of the great goddess Nike, "Just Do It!!" And I will!!

Did it anyway!

Monday, September 05, 2011

Thanks to a swollen sore knee my Sparking has gotten off to a much slower start than I'd hoped! I wore my brace to work last night, and my knee seemed to feel a bit better when I woke up. Unfortunately it didn't take long for me to realize that it is still not happy. I wanted to work out and walk the dog today, and that was simply not going to happen. So I decided that I could do at least one of those things if I couldn't do both. The dog really appreciated that I chose to walk! My knee is still swollen and sore, and I have to work a long shift tonight at work, but I can't let these things stop me. I think when my body realizes that I'm going to get fit and healthy anyway it will stop coming up with all these aches and pains that try to stop me.

The weather is beautiful today and Apple and I enjoyed our 1.5 mile walk! Tomorrow I'm going to the farm to do a bit of work out there and enjoy some more time outside. Wednesday we're (hubby and I) going to Eureka Springs, AR and we'll be walking around the town there. Life is looking up!

put a bag of frozen peas on your knee every chance you get and when you can sit down, elevate your leg. don't dare your body to show you who is boss, or it will! believe me I know, I learned the hard way............

great that you could get out and walk Apple, I think we burn triple the calories when we're outside..........
