While watching a few episodes of "Dennis the Menace" at lunch time with my boys today, I was reminded of how much I love to laugh and what a joy it is to watch my boys laughing--the gleam and the lightheartedness in their eyes said it all.

Then in the afternoon while studying "nomenclature" with my youngest son I decided we should look up the many *branches* of science and were amazed to find "Gelotology" --- the study of laughter!!! (kinda of reminds me of jello!) And just as I'm writing this, I think it is awesome and that this is not a coincidence to have this one subject brought to mind twice today. We watch what we eat, how much we eat, make sure we exercise, but let's also remember to make laughter a regular part of our lives---it enriches us and those around us--a win/win!!!

The Watering Hole -- Staying Hydrated

Alot harder than I thought is meeting the 8 glasses of water each day. The first few weeks I actually *felt* water logged and had a very sweet taste in my mouth after consuming my 8, sometimes more glasses a day. My bladder is now my new alarm clock! There's no snooze button on this one!

Here's some info. I didn't know until today:

"The average urine output for adults is about 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) a day. You lose close to an additional liter (about 4 cups) of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace your lost fluids." www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00

My doc. told me to take my current weight, divide it by 2 = number of ounces of water to drink per day. Add a cup for about every 1/2 hour - 1 hour of being outdoors.

One thing I like to drink as part of my daily intake is "WhiteRock" brand Naturally Flavored Seltzers. They come in Pomegranate/Blueberry, Strawberry/Kiwi, BlackCherry, Lemon/Lime. Absolutely *no* sugars, *no* perservatives, and nothing artifical included. They are DELICIOUS! Sometimes I add fresh lemon to the Pomegranate/Blueberry---SO good! I'm actually considering asking the grocery store to order me cases, because now my children are drinking it in place of fruit juices.
