I love this recording and singing thing, because it gives me an excuse to sing and record. Any requests?

Good weekend! I'm eating well, got in lots of serious exercise. My knee hurts a bit from the running, but nothing major and I don't think it's the nerve, I think I'm just adjusting to the newer running style, and my muscles and tendons are like, "you want me to what?"

I got some work done, but not enough. Therefore, gots to keep working. I'm doing good with staying on my sleep-wake schedule though, so that's good. Especially on weekends when I tend to get off.

We saw 21 Jump Street today. I loved the TV series back in the day (fell in love with Johnny Depp there long before the insanity about him hit!), and this was an excellent comedic homage. Jonah Hill is great.

Still enjoying mostly-Paleo eating. I made a Rueben casserole yesterday with sauerkraut, corned beef, and thousand island dressing. I threw in a little cheese, but not much, and I don't like the rye anyway, so I just crunched in a few caraway seeds to be more authentic. Then I made asparagus in bacon grease, red wine, garlic and red onion. I left the garlic chunks big so I could eat them, yum, garlic! I'm pretty sure I could eat roasted garlic all day.

I made new hot bacon dressing for my morning salad, and it's really good. I added more vinegar and a little mustard, and it has a nice tart flavor, and then the salad has beets in it for sweetness so there's a good flavor match.

Now, I have to go figure out what's going in my Southwest frittata. Probably peppers, tomatoes, onions, zucchini, spinach, maybe a little corn. Not sure what else. I'm having my part without cheese and putting cheese on for my husband. Hopefully, this will work.

Anyway, off to make the dinner, and maybe watch some Burn Notice.

Just Look At Us Holding On

Another video. All I did this morning was sing online. Okay, that's not all, just all I did between 9-10am. I actually got up before 4am and did Spark stuff, cleaned up the dishes, caught up on my grading for one class, did a long UFC workout (earned over 1000 fitocracy points!), and took a shower before the singing. Since then, I've posted on my blog and got 3/4 of the way through a Disney trip plan.

Yay productivity!

It helps that I'm fasting again, so no food prep/eating bogging me down.

The husband had work this morning, but he's home now. I'm planning to make something similar to a Shepherd's Pie for dinner, only without the potatoes. I should also bike later, but we'll see. I'd run, but it's raining. I also haven't done any crunches/push-ups yet.

Anyway, things are good. Supernatural is back from hiatus tonight, woohoo! Can't wait for a productive weekend.

Don't Stop Believing

I think maybe I'll start illustrating my titles for you all. It's fun.

Things are good. My eating is going well. I'm posting a few pictures of things I've eaten recently soon, so check those out. I just decided I need to up my omega-3's because my husband doesn't eat fish, so I'm adding a few new things. I bought canned salmon and made homemade curry mayo to mix it with. I bought whole flaxseed to add to my salads and also made homemade sunflower seed butter and added the flax to that. I also bought raw walnuts which I soaked and dehydrated to add to my yogurt and fruit. That should do it, because I'm bound to eat 1-2 of these a day.

Today is an "off" exercise day. I did yoga this morning, and other than that I'm just doing small spurts of push-ups and crunches for some challenges I'm in. No weights, no running. It's good, my legs ACHED yesterday, so they like taking a break.

I have actually done some grading today! Lots more to go, however. I need to actually wake up early tomorrow and get back on schedule since spring break is nearly over. The husband has to go to work at 7am tomorrow anyway, so it should be east enough to get up and move.

Okay, time to finish my afternoon snack (yogurt, peanut butter, and berries and cut veggies with chopped liver dip) and do more work. I have another blog post to put together, someone's Disney vacation to plan, and so many papers to grade!

I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore

Definitely got back the exercise/food stuff, still working on the productivity thing. As usual.

Yesterday, I ran for the first time since the half-marathon. About 2 miles. I definitely felt the sciatic nerve at first, and I made some adjustments and got it to stop hurting. However, it's going to take a lot more leg muscle than my previous running stance, which is probably good. Most running injuries come from the body being lazy and putting pressure on joints and nerves when it should really be muscle. Now, I just have to build up the muscle with both strength and endurance. That will mean weights and sprints and endurance running, whew!

UFC trainer is apparently already on top of that because there were lots of lunges in my routine today. Lots. My legs are going to ache tomorrow. Oh, and I joined a push-up challenge on fitocracy. I think there's something wrong with me, because I see a challenge button, and I just have to press it. Like, "oh, cool, I can do that too!". It certainly makes life more interesting.

Today is a fast day, and I'm dragging the husband along. Shouldn't be too hard since he slept all morning anyway. Just 6ish hours to go until dinner. Drinking tea and he's having artificially sweetened coffee (which isn't quite cheating but it walks the line). We'll do it again on Friday when he has work and can't really eat on the job easily anyway.

Okay, today I have nothing outside of home to do, and no food to prepare, so I better get some serious work done. That means getting off here.

    Your scientific approach to things has got my interest piqued. I have been blinding stumbling around with my life for many years after a fashion. All That's Left is a Band of Gold

That song was on the Now and Then soundtrack. I know this, because one summer drive to Disney World from NJ to FL, I'm pretty sure my best friend and I listened to that soundtrack about 50 times. Also includes Sugar, Sugar; I'l Be There; Daydream Believer, and, my personal favorite, Knock Three Times.

It was also just on the radio. Now it's in my head. I'm not sure I like it as much as I did 15 years ago.

Anyway, on with the update. I've now done three days in a row of UFC Trainer again, so I'm back in the zone. I also biked yesterday. I ought to run today considering the weather, but it's a bit late and I have to make dinner soon, so probably not. I am going to run 3-4 days this week though. It's time to get back after my two weeks off. I just have to watch my stance and stick with the balls of my feet.

In terms of my 85% paleo, things are going well. I have created an amazing breakfast salad. It now has mixed greens, red and green pepper, cucumber, beets, hard boiled egg, bacon, sunflower seeds, and homemade hot bacon dressing. Salad for breakfast is surprisingly awesome. Also, it's really easy to make, because of the lack of cooking. I usually throw a side of fruit, typically 4-5 wedges of grapefruit, on the side. This morning it was three strawberries.

Last night I made beanless chili. It had celery in it, which turned out to be really good. I still throw cheese on my husband's portion, but not mine.

I think tonight is Buffalo chicken salad night, but I should check Evernote to be sure.

In other news, I'm working on my productivity this week since I'm not teaching (yay Spring Break!) so I'm going to make two lists, one of things that are "work" and one of things that are "fun". Then I'm going to try 45 minutes "work" and 15 minutes "fun" all day tomorrow. Also, with interjections for food and working out. Let me put up a mini schedule so I know what I'm thinking.

4:30 Spark stuff
5:00 UFC Trainer
6:00 Shower
6:30 Breakfast
7:30 Nap
8:00-11:00 Work/Fun mix
11:00 Lunch
12:30-1:30 Work/Fun mix

3:30 Snack
4:00-6:00 Work/Fun mix
6:00-7:30 Make/eat dinner
7:30-8:30 Work/Fun mix
8:30 Nap
9:00-11:00 Work/Fun mix
11:00 snack, chill time
12:00-12:30 Bed time

Okay. I like it. I won't work that much every day because other things will happen, but that's a good framework. Like, tomorrow from 4-6pm is a Magic the Gathering event at the Library. Now all I need is my two lists, and I'll be set.

Okay, time to really go make dinner.

    Just a thought - what happens if the plan doesn't work, or you go over on your times? Just playing devil's advocate, as I've tried this before and it didn't work too well unless I set alarms constantly and was willing to instantly drop everything when it went off. Is it possible to make the times more flexible, have less switching back and forth, or something like that? Just some thoughts in case you find yourself not quite meeting the time changes.

I do hope it works though. As for the food, wow I wish I could have some of that stuff. I haven't had chili or beans (of any type!) in so long! I hope you enjoy it all!

Salad for breakfast sounds good to me. I generally have oatmeal, but sometimes switch off with soup.
