You Take Your Fear and Hoard the Horizon

Saturday, January 14, 2012

Well, I did my yoga this morning, but I still need to run 8 miles. I'll probably go soon.

I was inspired to make gluten-free mini-doughnuts this morning. They were yummy! Not too many, and just alongside my typical eggs and bacon. I have a new toy that's like a table electric grill with a bunch of pans that can be switched in and out, and one of them makes mini cakes (and doughnuts).

Today I've got to do just a bit more class prep. I'm mostly ready, which means I can work ahead some more. I also have two manuscripts that need to be worked on. Yuck. I'd rather run.

Anyway, so I'm watching Sherlock and then on to work and running and being careful not to snack too much around the house.

Onward and upward!

Just a Little Bit

Friday, January 13, 2012

of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. baby! Did you know that was actually written by Otis Redding? Music lesson for the day. Tomorrow, we'll talk about songs you didn't know Bruce Springsteen wrote.

So, we finally got the snow! This added a few minutes to my commute, but it wasn't really bad. I think we've got about 2-3 inches, so nothing major. We might get more overnight. I'm supposed to run tomorrow or Sunday, so I'll have to keep an eye on the weather to make that happen. I really need to do 8 miles. Half marathon in 41 days!

I just went biking today because it was easier to come home early and bike, and I though my husband might go to a movie, but he didn't. I did UFC this morning. Tomorrow is a yoga morning.

I'm mostly ready for my classes. I need to make a few more copies of some things, and prep a little more for lecture, but I feel good. I'm teaching huge blocks with minimal breaks on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, and then nothing Mon and Fri. This schedule might be awesome, it might kill me. We'll see.

Okay, right now, I need a power nap, and then I need a snack, and then I need to do work, make dinner, post on my blog, and plan my weekend and next week's meals. Whew! (I know, Hope, I'm crazy!)

Well, I didn't know Otis Redding wrote R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That will always be the Queen Aretha's song!

Hope you got everything done. WE got 6 in. of snow but not bad. The drivers were totally crazy, but I didn't do much driving anyway.

Have a great weekend!!

Slow Ride

Take it easy!

Lovin' my classic rock Pandora station. Waiting for students to advise. Got one, but no others. Almost ready for class on Tuesday, if almost means my list of things to do is only one post-it long.

I'm fasting today, although it's actually a terrible fast and I've been munching on jellybellies and chocolate every hour However, I didn't fast over break for almost a month, so I'm both mentally and physically not used to it. Once I'm teaching all day Tues/Thurs and using those days to fast, it will be a breeze. Seriously, I have classes almost back to back 9am to 3:15pm both those days.

Exercise is still good. I did some punching drills on UFC trainer this morning with a different trainer. It's cool that it keeps changing up what I do over the 60 day training. I ran yesterday and did speed intervals. I have to remember to focus on form when doing speed, though, or I through out my knees and ankles. When I stand straight and run on my midfoot, nothing hurts except the muscles.

Tomorrow is another trouble food day because there is a provided lunch, but I didn't do too badly yesterday, so I feel okay about tomorrow. I don't expect much weight drop for another week or so anyway since I ramped up the training. Overworked muscles cling to water like they are hiking in the Sahara.

I was super tired this morning, thus the afternoon blog. Probably a combination of extra workouts and maybe fighting a virus (had a slight tingle in my throat). I'm hoping to be in typical sleep mode today. I still need a power nap, but I'm planning to grab that just after dinner.

Okay, time to cross something else off my to-do list.

Onward and upward!

She's Got a Pretty Mouth

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

... to swallow you whole.

Because she's a creepy doll. It's a song by Jonathan Coulton. Don't ask.

Things are going well. Weight was 166.2 this am. I already did my UFC Trainer this morning, and I learned how to speed through the tutorials using voice commands. I'll bring my bag of running stuff to work for this afternoon.

Today is in-service day at work, so lots of learning, or teaching, since I tend to know as much as the people giving the presentations. I'm taking a bunch of tech seminars too, including one on social media in the classroom. I only run about 5-7 social media sites/accounts.

Food is questionable today because they are providing lunch, which could be anything. Also, they will give me gluten-free goodies. Still, I'll have a good breakfast and bring some healthy snacks.

Okay, time to get on that.

Light the Sky and Hold on Tight

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday.

Today was a yoga morning, which is a bit more relaxing than UFC Trainer. Yesterday, I also got a 30 min run in. I did well enough on it to only check my watch twice, once after about 27 minutes, and once just after 30.

Food is decent. The husband made dinner last night. I'm kind of forcing him to do that so he'll learn and I'll get a break once in a while. That means dinner isn't calorie perfect, in fact, we had lasagna. However, it wasn't that bad, and it was a smaller portion, we essentially made it in a bread loaf pan. Also, salad, veggies, and for dessert: a small amount of chocolate ricotta.

Only issue is now I have a lot of ricotta and need recipes. Ideas?

Today is the big meeting day at work, joy, so I best bring stuff to work on. Right this moment, gotta get ready and make breakfast.

Weight this morning: 166.2, even with lasagna!
45 days, 16.2lbs to go

That's good that your DH is willing to learn to cook. I am on a mission with my DH to do the same.

Good luck!

All in moderation, right? Good work on getting your run in, and I like the idea of getting the hubby to cook more.
