Season Ticket on a One-Way Ride

Saturday, October 22, 2011

I'm going to assume my scale is acting wonky today, and we're not going to discuss the stupidity of the numbers it's showing me. Maybe tomorrow the scale and I can a frank discussion about the fact that I can't gain weight when I take off clothes. It really is wonky sometimes, I'm not just being fussy because it went up. It went up in an odd way. Whatever.

Anyway, so yesterday I ran again, finally, first time since the half-marathon. I ran for 25 minutes on our indoor track. It's not the most scenic route, but it's starting to get cold here, and running outside in the cold bothers my hands (low-level Reynaud's Syndrome, mmm, fun!), so doing my short runs indoors makes more sense. I'll still do long runs outside, once I start doing long runs again. I also did my yoga in the morning. Today, I've none nothing but shop and eat, and we have a party tonight, yikes! I'm driving though, so minimal drinking, and I won't bake for the party so limited yummies.

I am baking for church, however, and I bought pears, and I'm going to make pear-cranberry-date cupcakes with a cranberry-chevre frosting. Minimal added sugar, maybe just a bit of maple syrup.

Okay, lots to catch up on and hopefully get ahead of this weekend, so see you all on the flip side. I have a friend visiting Sunday, so I probably won't get on here until Monday.

Onward and upward!

It's a Real Artificial Heart

Thursday, October 20, 2011

We dissected sheep's hearts today. It was fun! Get to do it again with labs next Tuesday.

So, still not getting up when I should be, but getting closer, so that's good. I did get up and do my strength, so I'm still good on that. My weight is being terribly annoying, but I suppose that's kind of the story of my life, and probably most of you. I think I still need to watch my fructose intake better. Seriously, body ... digest something!

Starting point: 160.2
Current: 159.6
Days to go 31
Goals accomplished yesterday: kickboxing, no sugar after 10pm, biking
Goals set for today: strength training (done!), interval training, no sugar after 10pm

Secondary goals for today: finish writing exam, finish grading labs, and sing/record a song

I'm working on some personal things that I choose not to blog about, and one of them is about doing things I love more often, and one of those is singing, so I'm making it an actual goal to do.

Now, back to work and other such things!

Anyway, how's that CrazyDog! Thanks for the kick in the behind.

It's Burning Through to My Soul

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

My favorite radio station out here seems to have an Elvis obsession. I'm okay with that.

So, I was supposed to get up early, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow. Seriously. I have to make this work.

Starting point: 160.2
Current: 158.6
Days to go 32
Goals accomplished yesterday: strength training, no sugar after 10pm, biking
Goals set for today: kickboxing (did it!), running, no sugar after 10pm

No weight change after a fasting weigh-in is about right. I just have to stay on track the rest of this week, and not destroy the weekend! We are going to a party Saturday night, but I just won't bake for it, and then I probably won't be able to eat much, plus I'm driving, so not much drinking.

Time to get on with things. I have to write the rest of my next exam today, it's about 1/3 done. I am also being observed by our Dean for teaching, but I'm not terribly concerned because I'm a fairly good teacher.

Okay, time to go hang at my office hours and write exam questions!

Keep Away from Runaround Sue!

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Did I ever mention that I grew up on American Graffiti? I stole my mother's tape when I was about 12 and learned every word. Thus, my reasonable knowledge of music from about 6 or 7 decades.

Anyway, onto, you know, diet stuff. I'm being a terrible procrastinator lately, and I need to stop. If tomorrow morning, I don't blog and say that I got up when I was supposed to and did stuff, someone yell at me: okay! I'm the kind of person who needs a little accountability. Also, my evening workouts haven't been happening. Ask me about that too!

Also, also: have I mentioned that I love post-fast weighing?

Starting point: 160.2
Current: 158.6
Days to go 33
Goals accomplished yesterday: fasting, yoga, no sugar after 10pm
Goals set for today: strength training (already done!), no sugar after 10pm, running

Time to go pack up my running stuff to take to work.

Onward and upward!

Say That We'll Be Nemeses

Monday, October 17, 2011

Okay, so this is crazy slow going, and honestly, that's mostly my fault, and I know it. This weekend was just food heavy. After the crepes on Saturday, there was a potluck at church yesterday. This is it. I gotta buckle down, on everything.

Starting point: 160.2
Current: 160.8 (grumble, grumble)
Days to go 34
Goals accomplished yesterday: low fructose, strength training
Goals set for today: yoga, fasting, interval training, no sugar after 10pm

I know it's mostly water weight, but still, I don't like that number. I want to be in 150-ville and mean it! So, this week, I'm going to maintain lower fructose all week and hopefully that will help detox my system quickly enough to still see real progress by week's end.

Anyway, running late already this morning.

Onward and upward!
