I'm interested in things

The line from my song today is TMBG. I'm seeing them twice next week, so expect a lot of TMBG.

Progress on Project LTPBHM (Lose-Ten-Pounds-Before-the-Half-Marathon)
Starting weight: 168.4
Current weight: 161.0 love me a post-fast drop, now can I hold it!
Yesterday's Goals Accomplished: morning yoga
Days to go: 21
Things to push me toward goal today: RUN!

So, the last two days were exciting. A pipe in our basement that was connected to the sump pump broke, which allowed the basement to flood, which put the power box under water, which knocked out half our power and our hot water. So, we had people in and out for two days pumping the 3 feet of water out of the basement and fixing things. Also, the road that was flooded Thursday was still flooded until yesterday afternoon, so I was going round-about everywhere. I'm pretty sure that things are mostly back to normal now. Whew!

So, this weekend I have to stay on track. Completely, no excuses. I also have to run 10 miles. Shouldn't be too hard. Today is the farmer's market and hitting my favorite new local market location. Yums! That will all start soon. Then, we have to run. A lot.

I'm joining a few challenges here with my gaming groups, which is exciting. Plus, it gives me further excuses to keep up with stuff after the half-marathon. I really want to make this happen this time.

Okay, I should get going on my day and all.

Onward and upward!

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' Another

Not a bad Journey song, not in my top 5, but still fun. What are my top 5 you ask? Why Faithfully, Wheel In The Sky, Don't Stop Believing, Separate Ways, and Lights, with Open Arms as a close sixth.

Anyway. So, it rained all day yesterday, and everything flooded, again. Sometime last night the two road on either end of my little road were both closed. Fortunately, this morning the one was open and I took a round about way into work, but had no trouble. My school of course is the only one open this morning! Our county is in a state of emergency until about Saturday though due to river cresting, so that could be fun.

I've been eating too much peanut butter lately. I mean, it's not real junk, but it's high calorie. I should really try to curb that problem. I can't run because of all the rain and flooding, but I did an indoor walking workout last night and my Kinect this morning. The husband did 45 min on the bike, I'm awfully impressed. He hates working out. I'm hoping the waters recede by Sunday and we can do a 10 mile run because we need it.

A peanut butter fan as well. Yum!

And your blog title got my attention. I had to check out what it was about.

Of course the reason peanut butter is so high in calories is because there are about 16g of fat per 2 tbsp (~150 cals just from fat), but most if it is healthy fats. So while it does up your calories, at least you're doing it with something that is healthy for you instead of something that is total junk.

Good Vibrations

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

So, I'm becoming acutely aware of the fact that if I want my polyphasic sleep system to work properly I have to eat right and exercise. When I am on track, I am wide awake and getting stuff done. When I fall even a bit off track, I am dead tired and falling asleep. Therefore, I need to maintain my low-carb, keep moving lifestyle if I am going to get anything done.

This morning, I cut up about 10lbs of chicken and pork for the freezer, made lunch and breakfast, checked all my email and such, put out the trash and recycling, did 20 min. of kickboxing, and am writing this blog while watching the Supernatural Season 6 gag reel. I also caught up on 3 episodes of the DnA Foodcast (dnafoodcast.com is two gamers who cook) while doing the above. It's only 7am. Woot!

Update on Project LTPBHM (Lose-Ten-Pounds-Before-the-Half-Marathon) is that my weight was 164.0 this morning. That's 2.4lbs down from yesterday and 2lbs above my lowest so far. I am betting on a 1lb drop by tomorrow to kick all the water weight from the last huge slip-If it ever stops raining, I also need to run. If I have 15 minutes, maybe I'll do wind sprints in the backyard. I can do those in the rain. They did it on Friday Night Lights. "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!"

I don't like the show much, but the husband does.

Okay, so I'm set for food today. I have a plan for exercise. I think I'm good.

Onward and upward!

So I Smile Wide and Say

Good Morning Tucson!

No, I'm not in Tucson, that's just another new Jonathan Coulton song.

So, Project LTPBHM (Lose-Ten-Pounds-Before-the-Half-Marathon) has taken a slight set-back. I'm at 166.4 right now after a crazy wedding/NYC weekend. Knowing my body, a lot of that is water still though.

I jumped back into things by doing my cardio yoga yesterday morning, strength training last night, and kinect this morning. I'm going to fast today as well.

Hpoefully, I'll see some good drops and be back on track by the end of the week.

Onward and upward!

Sticking It To Myself

Monday, September 05, 2011

Today's title is a new song off Jonathan Coulton's newest album. Geek/nerd music.

So, I made pizza in the new house, and the kitchen passes! Woot! Since people always ask, here's the recipe as I made it:

Oven to 450F

mix in small bowl: 2 tsp active dry yeast, 1 tsp sugar, 1/4 cup warm water
allow to sit until it bubbles to about twice its size

Make the flour blend: 3/4 cup sorghum flour, 3/4 cup millet flour, 1 cup tapioca flour/starch, 1 heaping tablespoon xantham gum

In a large bowl mix 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 cup boiling water (to melt sugar and oil together)
Add 1/4 cup of cold water and the yeast blend
Mix in the flour blend to make an elastic, non-sticky dough. Add more flour (sorghum or millet or a mix of the two) if sticky and more water if falling apart.

Take a cookie sheet with sides and spread a layer of olive oil on the bottom (be generous with the oil)

Spread the dough across the cookie sheet as thinly as you want it using the heels of the hand and then the fingers. If you like your dough cracker-crisp, then you will probably also need another smaller pan.

Add sauce, cheese, and toppings as you please. Don't over-sauce. Bake at 450F for 20-30 minutes until edges begin to brown.

This is not a diet food, it is to be enjoyed infrequently and with others.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled blogging tomorrow morning.

Onward and upward!
