Once A Girl Scout Went to Camp

Friday, July 22, 2011

... went to camp!
Went to bed without a lamp
Saw a beetle sitting in her bed
This is what the Girl Scout said:
"Beetle, beetle go away, go away.
I'm afraid you cannot stay.
Remember what the camp director said:
'no two people in one bed' "

Once a Boy Scout went to camp
Went to bed without a lamp
Saw a beetle sitting in his bed
This is what the Boy Scout said:

Camp is awesome and has been super insanely hot this week.

However, my weight is down to 165.4!

Time to go look up water games for my girls today.

Multiply Life By The Power of Two

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Title is courtesy of the Indigo Girls who will have a new CD out soon-ish, yay!

This morning's weight is 167.0! Woot! I still need to lay off the peanut butter, but camp is totally agreeing with me. I'm also learning even more about cutting back and how much food I need and can still be active and energetic. At least, until 11-11:30pm when I crash hardcore. Although yesterday I actually was so active that I needed to eat my apple and peanut butter snack to keep my blood sugar normal. That was because the counselors ran races like backward jog, and piggyback, and crabwalk. For the record, I cannot crabwalk, but I came in second place with a camper on my back. She was a tiny thing, though.

Today is all about shopping and meal planning. I know, it's that time again already -- crazy! I need to start watching my meal planning because we are moving in 23 days. No more stocking up on food around here.

Anyway, meals:

Today: chili-corn dog casserole
Sunday: Spicy peanut stir fry
Monday: Italian rice bake
Tuesday: Some kind of hash
Wednesday: Queso pasta
Thursday: Chakchouka and oregano chicken
Friday: Stuffed cabbage casserole

Sounds awesome, right? Okay, gotta finish watching Leverage and then go shopping. I wonder if I can get another week's worth of strawberries. We're on the fringe of the season, so we'll see.

Onward and upward!

Yesterday A Child Came Out To Wander

... caught a dragonfly inside a jar, fearful when the sky was full of thunder, and tearful at the falling of a star, and the seasons they go round and round ...

A little Joni Mitchell this morning.

Weight today: 167.8 woot! Just gotta lay off the peanut butter a bit more. Went for a run after a long, long day of camp yesterday that went surprisingly well. I was way behind the husband for the first half, and the second half I decided to catch up, and I did! He's 6'3" so keeping up with him is a Feat (specifically: the Burst of Awesome Feat).

Wednesday night karaoke was freakin' awesome. I was such a diva, and I rocked all three numbers.

Today is the last day of week 2 of camp! There will be archery and some kind of craziness involving counselors doing strange obstacles pretending we are horse racing. My horse name is Zoomi because I'm fast, like this, schewww! Don't ask. Seriously.

This weekend is our 8-mile run, which I still need to map out a route for! Can't wait.

For those who read consistently, the dried squid thing is something I picked up in high school from some Asian friends, and it's much better than it sounds, and if you eat calamari, you eat the same creature anyway! I also love lychee jellies and pork buns thanks to the same friends.

Have a great weekend all.

Onward and upward.

Not a huge fan of calamari either... LOL. But I'll trust you - to each their own. I like SPAM, I'll admit it...so there's my "yuck" for the day!

Calamari, I have to admit, is good! So are the lychee nuts and pork buns!!

Both my kids (adopted from Korea) like those things too -- along w/Kimchee. Sorry . . . can't eat that one either!!

Rolling over the Billows, Rolling over the Seas

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

More camp song titles. It happens. Especially when most of what you do all day is sing camp songs.

Camp is awesome but oh so tiring and time-consuming! Though, I try to play with the kids as much as possible, and run around as much as possible.

Weight today: 169.0, a bit higher than I wanted since I've been lower in the past week. However, TOM is looming, so that may contribute. I also haven't been able to really fast because of camp. Interestingly enough, I feel it. It's almost like my body wants breaks from eating now that it's used to them. So, today I'm skipping breakfast and only bringing a small, extremely low-carb lunch and a tiny snack of dried squid.

Today is a bunch of archery! Hooray!! I love archery.

Now, I'm off for fun, adventure, and wacky Wednesday! No, really, you should see my hair ....

Onward and upward!

Where the Skies Are So Blue

Sunday, July 10, 2011

I'm in an old school kind of mood. I'm watching Star Trek: The Original Series and have a classic Southern rock song stuck in my head: Sweet Home Alabama.

Anyway. I love camp, even though it is time-consuming and exhausting! It's also quite good for weight loss because I am outside and on my feet the entire day. My weight right now is 168.4, and that's after a slightly higher cal couple of days.

Today is meant to be a 7 mile run. I've already mapped it, and the weather looks good so far. Then, it's DnD, dinner, and another game called Fiasco. I'm excited.

I need a weekly dinner plan, ack.

Monday: Chicken Parmesan and broccoli/chard, salad
Tuesday: 'Creamy Italian' pork and quinoa, salad
Wednesday: Southwest chicken and rice
Thursday: BBQ steak, corn, mashed potatoes, salad
Friday: Chicken pot pie

Okay, sounds yummy. I just need to pick up the corn from a local farm around the corner.

Anyway, time to finish my Sunday!

Onward and upward!
