Welcome to the Jungle

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

I am back! My title is Guns n' Roses.

Let me give you the quick rundown of my vacation. We went to Disney World from Wednesday through Saturday morning. We had fun, check out the new Star Tours and did some of our favorite classics. We went out to nice dinners and hung out at my favorite piano bar for two nights. We also used the opportunity to celebrate my parent's and my anniversary. Theirs was actually Friday, 33 years, and our 4th will be in early July, but we'll be too busy to do more than dinner.

We drove back from Disney to Tampa on Saturday where my parents live and went to see the Green Lantern (not great) and then on Sunday we went to a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.

So, the final result of all this is that I'm back up at 175 lbs, some of which is definitely water weight. We did run Saturday night, but other than that and walking around Disney, exercise was minimal. This morning, I did a quick bodyweight cardio sequence to get back into the swing of things.

So, this week I am home for three days and then off to an archery training for the day I'm going to work at Friday-Saturday, woohoo! That should mean I will be seriously on track this week. Yup, I can do it!

Onward and upward!

Another Opening, Another Show

Friday, June 10, 2011

I get the strangest music stuck in my head. We did that one at a Cabaret-style show that I put together in high school. It was way fun.

So, my week of no grains/no sugar comes to an acceptable conclusion at 168.8, and today and tomorrow both have parties with baked goods. Fortunately, today's party also has fruits and veggies and tomorrow's will have some good stuff as well. I just have to keep up strong with exercise and go light on the rest of my food.

I didn't do my strength last night, nor running, the latter because we had massive thunderstorms and the former because I had massive cramps. I will make that up tonight for sure though. I did do a good power yoga this morning, and I will run tomorrow and Sunday for sure.

It's Fabulous Friday and I'm throwing myself a party! Well, it's mostly because I'm ending my current job, but I still love a party! I plan to play games, eat yums, and have fun!

Got any good weekend plans?

My plans? I'd rather think about all that fun you'll be having!

I'm cooking up a healthy storm, because we have guests on Monday, and i'ts a holiday here, so I have to do the shopping/prep on Saturday. Only healthy foods will be served at my table... when I get healthy every benefits.

Thanks for sharing your blogs.

There Are Worse Things I Could Do

Thursday, June 09, 2011

My title is the song from Grease that I rocked out at karaoke last night. I also did Midnight Train to Georgia and Eye of the Tiger.

So, I'm down to 170.2 today. Technically, I got a reading of 168.8 with absolutely no clothes on, but I usually weigh with clothes, so I'll keep the 170.2.

I did my strength yesterday and I did HIIT on the bike this morning, and I will run this evening, assuming it is not actually thunderstorming.

I am fasting today because tomorrow is my work going-away party and I have to eat there. Then, Saturday is my personal done-with-work party. It's going to be a lot of eating. I'm highly considering not eating either day until the parties. That's one of the benefits of practiced fasting: I'm good enough at it that it's easy for me to not eat for short periods. The vast majority of the time, I'm not even hungry at all.

It's Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful this week for my air conditioning because man did it get hot fast! Whew! Another 90s day today. I'm starting to remember why I generally prefer cool climates, even if I have to deal with snow in winter.

Wow, it's still early and I'm not sure I have any specific plan right now. Maybe I'll watch the first episode of Boardwalk Empire, yeah, that would be fun.

Have a great day guys!

I love the eye of the tiger!
How come you can fast with insulin resistance? I get extremely hungry within 3-4 hours max, and then I get so unbearable it's dangerous for world peace if I don't eat something [no icon is angry enough to portray me at those moments]

Gotta agree w/you about the air conditioning. It was near 100 on Tuesday and yesterday the same. Then came the raging thunderstorms! Now it's in the 50's where it's supposed to stay. Frankly, I too prefer the cooler weather!

Have fun w/your parties. Will be away from Friday through Sunday to be w/Mom as she has her surgery.

Hopes of Immortality

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

This world falls on me, hopes of immortality, everywhere I turn, all this beauty just keeps shaking me
- Indigo Girls

So, yesterday and today are going well. I'm still avoiding grains and sugar pretty successfully. I've eaten quite a few prunes though. Prunes are yummy. Also sweet. Last night for dinner I made spicy Teriyaki stir fry with lots of sprouts.

I also went running last night in like, 80 degree weather. It was crazy hot. I kept mentally comparing it to a hot yoga class, it wasn't about improving my running, it was about the mental endurance to push through the physical difficulty. I made it, nearly 3 miles mostly in sun.

This morning I did kickboxing, I also did my strength training last night. My current weight is 171.4, still TOM imminent, also, high soy sauce therefore high salt meal, again. At least I should get a really nice drop when it drops.

It's WOOHOO Wednesday, and I'm celebrating sticking hard to my no grains/no sugar this week with two more days including today to go.

Okay, time to get on with things.

emoticonyou! DH and I saw a hard-core runner the other day - it was mid-to high-nineties out there. And humid. We applauded as we drove by in our nice, a/c'ed car. lol My adrenals couldn't have handled it. I will go out and walk in it though.

I love you're trying grain and sugar-free. Hope you hit your sweet-spot soon on the weight loss.
