'Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky

Thursday, May 12, 2011

So, Comcast offered me a short term deal that got us HBO for a while. It's nice because we get to watch Game of Thrones, which is awesome, but also I get HBO-Go on the computer so I've been watching True Blood like it's my job. I love vampires. Used to watch Forever Knight and I've read all the Vampire Chronicles. I don't like the sparkly ones, though. You know what I mean.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for diet and exercise. I did minect kickboxing in the morning and legs and shoulders in the evening. I didn't munch really at all. I had two relatively small drinks at karaoke. For the whiskey/scotch crowd: Johnny Walker Red is my new cheap-bar favorite. We also played karaoke roulette, meaning random songs off of a 100 song list. It was fun. I sang Sgt. Pepper and Purple Haze, which are songs I would never usually pick!

Today I'm going running, in about half an hour, actually. Then having a pretty typical eating day. That's my plan anyway.

It's Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for the longer days of summer, because it's 5:35am and I could run now because it's light enough.

Work is all about manuscripts and paperwork and data. Ack. At least I have plenty to do.

Onward and upward!

Kickboxing and Karaoke

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

You know what day it is? It is my favorite day of the week: WOOHOO Wednesday! I am celebrating this week because I am finally making good choices. Not 100% good choices, but better than before. Today, we're getting take-out for lunch in celebration of a friend's publication, and I ordered only a lunch sized option and no drink. I've also mostly been laying off the junk at night, although last night I had few too many snack bites of things before quitting.

Yesterday was a running day. I did 2 miles in the morning and 3 in the evening with the husband. This morning will be kickboxing. I 've kept up on my strength this week so far as well.

This morning the scale read 173.2, about the right increase after the post-fast decrease. Gotta keep getting on there to remember to stay on track! That number is awfully motivating right now.

Okay, so today is pretty typical, karaoke tonight, yay! Time to get on with it.

Onward and upward!

In the House of the Rising Sun

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

It's Tuesday. My weigh-in today was 172.8, and that's a post-fast weight. Today is an eating day, always fun.

Yesterday was an awesome night at jazz group. My accordion playing is getting pretty good I think. We did Summertime, and House of the Rising Sun, and other fun stuff.

Work is going to be a bit nuts since I am leaving in precisely a month. I need to make an official list of things I need to do before I go.

Oh, so, on my way back from Jazz yesterday, I realized that I had forgotten my phone at Jazz, oh no. So, I had to go back and get it, and I was all annoyed at myself for being a ditz, which happens too often as I also lost my wallet this week, anyway, I was thinking about whether I should go home and have some chocolate afterwards. So I finally just said to myself, "If I'm going to be a freakin' idiot, at least I'm going to be a skinny idiot!" So, I didn't stress eat.

Tuesday is tip day! My tip is lifestyle today: be like Nike and just do it. Science says that action breeds motivation. Take just one tiny action and it leads to more.

Okay, time for my typical Tuesday,

Onward and upward!

"If I'm going to be a freakin' idiot, at least I'm going to be a skinny idiot!" That is perfect! I need reminding that eating chocolate (or ?) won't fix "whatever I did this time"! emoticon

Stepping Forward

Monday, May 09, 2011

Good morning! It's another Monday. I think we've done a decent job of clearing out weekend junk food and are ready to make this week a great one. I need to start doing some more daily weigh-ins this week, so I think that's my newest thing. The scale this morning said 173.8 yuck.

Yesterday, I totally took the husband for a longer run than he had done before. We ran for just a little over a 5K distance, about 3.2 miles. We need to be at 4 miles at the end of the month. I think we got this.

This morning should be yoga, and I'll do that in about half an hour.

It's also Motivational Monday!

Time to keep taking steps and eventually we'll see where we're going.

A very inspiring quotation. I think almost every step in my career, and in my effort to be able to run although I'm not "supposed to", is a step of faith... Because somehow I always fail to see the staircase emoticon
Have a great week!

Off and On

Sunday, May 08, 2011

Well, I'm still working out weekend details, and at the moment the husband is not so much helping! He decided that he would munch yesterday and so even though I didn't munch as badly as him, I did more than I probably should have.

Still, I made him run and I will make him run again today, so that's good. He also promises to buckle down after this weekend too.

So, Thor was AWESOME! It was such a fun movie and most everyone did a good job, and he looked incredible. I didn't end up at Free Comic Book Day, but that was okay.

Today is church and Mother's Day. I don't know what we're singing this morning, but next week is choir Sunday and we're singing a Haydn Mass. After church is laundry, running, and Dungeons and Dragons in the evening and I think I'm doing make your own tacos for the group for dinner.

So, the day is planned, I am set, and life is good!

Onward and upward!
