In Which Jobs Are Offered!

Thursday, April 28, 2011

It was definitely a WOOHOO Wednesday yesterday! I finally got a real job offer from a community college in upstate NY to start in the fall. Now, I won't formally accept until next week to clear up the loose ends in my current ongoing search, but unless something else spectacular comes along in the next couple of days, this is where I'll be moving in August.

Also, I applied for and was accepted to a job this summer for six weeks at a local Girl Scout day camp as a Teen Program Coordinator. So, that will be a nice break as well.

Woohoo! So, now I have to implement Project Buckle Down the Diet. I no longer have the excuse that I'm managing my stress with sugar, which wasn't the best way, but wasn't the worst either. So now I'm going to finish up all the junk surrounding me this week and then not buy any more, period. That should greatly improve my diet.

My exercise has been good. I'm 3/3 on strength training and cardio this week. I'll be running this morning in about 2 hours. I no longer have to spend hours on job applications, so I can turn those around into something useful.

So, it's Thankful Thursday which is appropriate because I am Thankful to be employed. These aren't the best paying jobs, but they are good jobs and jobs I will enjoy, which I think is the most important thing.

Okay. Time for lunch/breakfast prep and other typical daily goings-on.

Onward and upward!

I'm so happy for you! Getting into a steady job will definitely help stabilize your life... even though it may make it more stressful in the beginning due to the major changes that are about to come.

Best wishes to you - I'm sure you'll do great in both jobs!

Somethings and Somethings

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

You know, time gets away from me awfully fast. I'm always intending to do something, and then end up doing something else instead. Oh well, at least something gets done either way, usually. Yeah. Ignore cryptic Melissa now, okay?

For new friends: Woohoo wednesday is the time in the week to celebrate whatever victory you had this past week, either big or small.

My WOOHOO is that I did strength training the last two days in a row! I've been slacking pretty badly, so that's really great. Mmmm, my arms are going to regret this in the afternoon.

My strength training today consists of legs-shoulders so that's lunges, military presses, deadlifts, lateral raises, and wide-leg squats. This morning, though, is kinect kickboxing!

As for food, well, I intend to eat. We'll see where that takes me.

Onward and upward!

It's also karaoke day. I don't know what I'm going to sing tonight. We'll see. Love my karaoke!

Run to the Hills

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

So, yesterday wasn't as great food-wise as I originally planned, but it could have been worse. I did do all my exercise, so that's good!

I'm meant to run this morning, which actually has to happen because I'm borrowing a friend's car to drive to an interview and she lives about a mile away from me and gave me her key. I have to run to get the car, hehe! Good plan, right! I'll be doing that in about 10 minutes. Tonight is back-biceps: rows, bicep curls, rear-delt raises, hammer curls, weight side-to-side upper cuts.

It's Tuesday Tips and my tip today is to arrange your food so the healthy stuff is easy to get and the junk is hard to get. My candy stash is on a high shelf and I will bury things like leftover frosting in the bottom of my fridge. Out of sight, out of mind, but also I have to think twice about getting it.

Okay, off to run!

Sounds like a great way to encourage yourself to fit exercise in.

Just Doctor

Monday, April 25, 2011

I'm watching Doctor Who this morning. I'm just starting Series 4 of the new one, which puts me behind because series 6 just began yesterday. That's okay, I'll catch up, slowly bu surely.

Yesterday wasn't too bad. I dragged the husband running even though he protested. Then I made cheeseburger casserole for dinner with a salad.

Today is Monday, so it's a fast day, and Motivational Monday!

Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.
Thomas Jefferson

I'm thinking it's about time to establish a new exercise pattern. I want to do cardio in the mornings and strength in the evenings. I already run/bike Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think I should do cardio yoga Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, that's mornings.

Evenings I have less time, so I need to do body splits and tabatas. Here's a typical three day split: Chest-Triceps; Back-Biceps; Legs-Shoulders. That's six days of strength. So tonight can be: push-ups, tricep kickbacks, chest flies, sit-ups, and side crunches

Okay. Time to finish this Doctor Who episode and get on with the cardio yoga.

Onward and upward!

Crazy Foggy

Sunday, April 24, 2011

I didn't exactly bike yesterday. I did do about 8 minutes of tabatas, so it's not like I did nothing. Still, I should have biked. Today might be another inside day. It's warmer than yesterday, but crazy foggy right now and quite wet.

Yesterday was me and the husband's semi-Easter celebration, so we made fondue and then chocolate fondue. Delicious, yes, good for us, not exactly. We like to buckle down on Sundays though, so that's the plan for today. My plan is not to eat at all until I get home from church.

I didn't do much actual catching up yesterday, just relaxing and procrastinating, so I'll have to catch up to things today.

Right now, I think I'm going to play a game of Wii Bowling, because I haven't in a while.
