Just Doctor

Monday, April 25, 2011

I'm watching Doctor Who this morning. I'm just starting Series 4 of the new one, which puts me behind because series 6 just began yesterday. That's okay, I'll catch up, slowly bu surely.

Yesterday wasn't too bad. I dragged the husband running even though he protested. Then I made cheeseburger casserole for dinner with a salad.

Today is Monday, so it's a fast day, and Motivational Monday!

Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.
Thomas Jefferson

I'm thinking it's about time to establish a new exercise pattern. I want to do cardio in the mornings and strength in the evenings. I already run/bike Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think I should do cardio yoga Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, that's mornings.

Evenings I have less time, so I need to do body splits and tabatas. Here's a typical three day split: Chest-Triceps; Back-Biceps; Legs-Shoulders. That's six days of strength. So tonight can be: push-ups, tricep kickbacks, chest flies, sit-ups, and side crunches

Okay. Time to finish this Doctor Who episode and get on with the cardio yoga.

Onward and upward!

Crazy Foggy

Sunday, April 24, 2011

I didn't exactly bike yesterday. I did do about 8 minutes of tabatas, so it's not like I did nothing. Still, I should have biked. Today might be another inside day. It's warmer than yesterday, but crazy foggy right now and quite wet.

Yesterday was me and the husband's semi-Easter celebration, so we made fondue and then chocolate fondue. Delicious, yes, good for us, not exactly. We like to buckle down on Sundays though, so that's the plan for today. My plan is not to eat at all until I get home from church.

I didn't do much actual catching up yesterday, just relaxing and procrastinating, so I'll have to catch up to things today.

Right now, I think I'm going to play a game of Wii Bowling, because I haven't in a while.

They Said April Had A Blizzard

Saturday, April 23, 2011

The title is from a fabulous Dar Williams song. Also, it was snowing this morning. Seriously. Then, I had to go shopping in the wet, icky mush which turned to annoying rain. Yuck. I'm staying in the rest of the day. That means that I'll have to bike instead of run, but I can handle that.

Yesterday's concert was awesome, woohoo! We were really far back, but Cake is fun no matter what and the lead singer, John McCrea, makes us all sing about half the songs. He also plays the vibraslap, which is the best percussion instrument ever.

On the way to the concert we swung my McDonald's for dinner because time was tight and it was a two-hour drive. So, I've recently been having their Southwest Chicken Salad with grilled chicken, and it is a really good salad. According to the website, the salad is 320 calories and the dressing is an extra 100, which is a good deal for a fast food dinner. I mean, my normal dinners are between 300-500 calories. Also, everything but the chicken appears to be gluten-free, and the chicken only contains bits of various starches so it doesn't seem to bother me since I'm only gluten-intolerant. Anyway, yum!

So, this weekend is a catch up on my life weekend for sure. It will also include baking some Wonder Woman inspired cupcakes (more on that later), some exercise, possibly some fondue, and hopefully some chill time. Still, I have a lot to actually do so I best get on that.

Cake (It's not a lie!)

Friday, April 22, 2011

It's Friday! I feel like it has been an extremely long week. Today should zip by though because I have so much going on. I have an interview in the morning for a summer day camp job. Then my undergraduate is presenting a poster at a UMass conference. Finally, me and my husband are driving out to Boston to see Cake (they're a band)!

Since it's so crazy, it's probably also a really good thing that I'm fasting most of the day. No worries about eating on schedule. We'll probably grab dinner on the road to Boston. My only concern is that I don't know when I'm going to get an evening nap in. Maybe I'll make the husband drive for a chunk on the way there so that I will be good to drive back.

Anyway, less eating: good. Exercise: I'm going to get my Kinect on this morning in a bit while also watching House on Hulu. That should be fun. I got my run in yesterday, so that's good. I really, really have to find alternates for eating snacks and junk this up and coming week. I think that will be my new goal: how many times can I replace a "grab something with sugar" moment with "do something else, dummy" instead. We'll keep a running total. It will be fun.

It's Fabulous Friday and my me-thing is definitely this concert, even though it's my husband's birthday gift from my parents. It's still going to be awesome! Now, time for a workout and getting on with my day.

Onward and upward!

Go West Young Man

Thursday, April 21, 2011

It's Thursday! I'm watching previews for my favorite show Supernatural on my phone. Hehe. I love this show. I'm being such a fangirl, but I've been in fanfiction writing - repeat watching - crazy show mood all week. I think that's because it was on hiatus for 6 weeks and finally came back last Friday and I watched it Sunday and it was an awesome episode. Well, maybe not awesome, but had some great, much missed moments. The blog title btw is related to this week's upcoming episode. Shhhh, I'm not crazy.

Okay, fangirl off for a little while.

My food is still not where I want it to be, my exercise is decent could be better, and my life is insane. I need someone to hire me so I can get back to a grounded life because this up-in-the-air stuff isn't working. Still, I manage. I sang angry girl songs at karaoke last night: Avril Lavigne's Losing Grip and Dixie Chicks' Ready to Run. I feel like I should preface half of my karaoke singing with "really, I'm in a very happy marriage, ignore my song choices".

Today is Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for little things that make you realize the good stuff you have.

Not sure what's going to happen with me today. I think I may try to find somewhere in the sun to work. I normally like overcast days, but I think I'm in a sun mood today. Maybe I'll just try to take walking breaks.

Okay, have a great Thursday all!

Hope you get something soon! It really is hard to have life so up-in-the-air.

Happy, hoppy Easter! emoticon
