Stuff and More Stuff

Monday, April 18, 2011

So, NYC was fun. I ate and drank too much and I need, need, need to buckle down this week, but it was fun. So, my plan today is fasting because it's Monday. I need to do some strength/circuit stuff this morning as well and some strength tonight too. Of course, after my crazy out of town weekend, I'm way behind on everything, so I gotta go do stuff.

It's Motivational Monday, so here's my motivation:

Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.
William B. Sprague

Time to go strike something!

Onward and upward!

NYC ... what is it about you?

Friday, April 15, 2011

Happy Friday! I am actually already starting my weekend because me and hubs are taking a long weekend in the City (NYC) for his 30th birthday which is tomorrow. I will probably be mostly out of touch all weekend as well, so if I don't blog it's okay, although I may still try to get something up, even if it's short.

Yesterday was rough because I was incredibly tired, but I made it without going too crazy. I did manage to effectively not eat until 5:30pm, however, I also made rhubarb and strawberry cobbler for my dnd (dungeons and dragons) group. It was delicious, but not low calorie in any sense. I'm going to try today to not go overboard at all. It's hard in the city, there's so much great stuff! Fortunately, we should also be really busy, and walking around like crazy, so that should help.

I did run yesterday, and this morning I am going to do some Wii Fit of some kind. I'm hoping to do some kind of exercise this weekend, but who knows. I don't think running around upper Manhattan is going to happen though.

Okay, well, one of my team's calls this Fabulous Friday in honor of doing something for yourself, and this whole day is going to be fabulous for me! I should get some music listening time while driving and some reading time of the train and then a whole two days of hanging with my best friend and my husband, yay!

Time to get this show on the road.

Onward and upward!

That team member would be . . . ME! LOL Sounds like you're going to have a Fabulous Friday!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE NYC. DH lived there. We walked absolutely everywhere. It was not easy to eat sensibly with sooooo many wonderful places to chose from! He lived in Queens so one of our favorite spots was Ben's Best. OMG, they made their own pastrami and corned beef and dill pickles and rye bread . . . I am making myself HUNGRY! The only other thing that I would cagtegorize as something to have at least once in your lifetime is Elaine's Cheesecake. There is absolutely NO way to eat sensibly when eating that cheesecake!

Crazy Weather

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Seriously weather! It was such a nice morning Tuesday in the 50s, perfect for running. Today: 41F. I mean, at least it's not freezing, but still, that's annoyingly cold. I'll have to start with gloves. It is April 14th, people, I should not have to run with gloves!!

Okay, rant over.

I may not even get to run, I can't tell what the rain situation is yet.

So, yesterday I ended up snacking a bit more than planned, but not too badly, and I did cut myself off after my one drink at karaoke. My one drink was my first scotch (Glenlivet) and, umm, I like scotch. A lot. I also power ballad-ed my way through the night with Faithfully, Sister Christian, and Me and Bobby McGee. It was awesome.

My workouts were good. I did my kickboxing on kinect in the morning and 8 minutes of ab work in the evening after karaoke that I am going to feel in about 12 hours.

I'm quite tired today, and have been all week. However, it's that TOM and I think I'm a bit anemic this time, which happens once in a while, and I don't have any red meat to fix that. Whatever, I'm fasting today again one day early because tomorrow I'm going to NYC with the hubby for three days and won't be fasting (I normally do Mondays and Fridays)

Okay, so this morning is run or bike depending on the weather when the sun gets up, fasting, and DnD! Let's hope my dice behave this week! It's also Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for my vocal chords which allow me to relieve stress without eating/drinking through singing! Now, time to get on with this running thing.

Onward and upward!

Finding My Track

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Well, yesterday went pretty well. I ran in the morning, which actually was a tough run, but I finished it anyway. I run about 3 miles on typical short run mornings now. Who would've thought I'd run 5K distances 2-3 times a week for easy practice, right? In the evening I did arm strength and yoga. I also didn't eat nearly as much sugary stuff as I have been. Actually, no large sugar items at all, just small bites of things.

So, I guess my Woohoo for WOOHOO Wednesday is that I had one pretty good day. Considering where my food habits have been lately, that's a heck of a victory in my book.

So, today, similar goals apply. I'm going to go do some kinect kickboxing right now, and tonight I want to do abs and back strength. That means rows, bird-dog, plow-lifts, roll-ups, and planks. Also, same sugar goals: only 2 max of sugar items including my drinks at karaoke. Not sure what I'm singing tonight yet. I think I'll kick it old school with classic rock all night. A little Pat Benatar, and little Journey, and a little Zeppelin if I think I got it.

Time for posting, exercising, and generally getting on with life.

Onward and upward!
