Coconut, mmmm

Saturday, April 09, 2011

So, yesterday's interview went the way they usually go, which is good. I met up with the parents and my sister afterwards and went out to dinner for Thai. I had something called Evil Prince Squid, which was a sweet and spicy curry. I asked for spice level 4, should have asked for 5! It had a decent bite though. I also had coconut soup and coconut rice, yum!

Now time for Cracker Barrel breakfast with mom, and then driving home. I did run this morning. I'm off!

Onward and upward!

Glad to hear the interview went well. I haven't visited you in forever, so I thought to drop by - saw your blog on the celiac thread.

"Evil" Prince Squid - very creative name, lol. I've never been to a Cracker Barrel. Sounds glutenous to me, lol. What do you order?

Traveling, Again

Friday, April 08, 2011

So, I'm off in less than an hour to drive out to New York for another interview, so this will be short.

I had a terrible case of the munchies yesterday, yikes! I biked though, so that's good. I'm also fasting today which is excellent because I don't really have time for food.

Right now, I'm off to do a quick kickboxing routine on Kinect and get on the road. I have my running gear for tomorrow morning though!

Onward and upward!

Diva night!

Thursday, April 07, 2011

So last night at karaoke I decided to be a diva. My voice was happy and I was in an interesting mood, so I went for it. I sang a solo version of Defying Gravity from Wicked first (Idina Menzel is definitely a diva). Then I did a duet with a friend of My Eyes from Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog (Felicia Day is a geek diva). Finally, just before leaving, I belted out Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back to Me (Holy diva, Batman!). It was pretty awesome.

Food was about the same as it's been. I did my strength/Kinect exercise yesterday. Today is a running day, in theory. Of course, it's obnoxiously cold again. Mmmm, maybe I'll bike today. I haven't biked in a while, I have tv shows to watch on hulu, and it's 29 degrees F, in April! Still. Even if I do that today, I need to set another running goal so I don't slack. Let's see what Map My Run has today ... okay, there I'm signed up for another 30 miles in 30 days challenge. Still not going today, now it's28 degrees F.

Today I have to work on my cellular respiration presentation for my interview tomorrow. Tomorrow I get to interview and then spend the evening with Mom an Dad and my sister who will be nearby, woohoo!

Today is Thankful Thursday and I am thankful for natural peanut butter. It's become one of my favorite foods lately. I figure if I'm going to over-eat, it might as well be good, natural peanut butter.

Now, I have things to do, places to go. Onward and upward!

Glad you had fun and I share your thanks for natural peanut butter. All those years I didn't realize I was eating peanuts supplemented with sugar and oil. The pure stuff is so much tastier!

Doing the Yogas

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Happy Wednesday Morning! So much for the nice weather, it is cold again. Crazy New England. Well, at least this morning is indoor exercise. I think maybe I'll watch some House or something on Hulu and do some kinect strength training. Yup, good plan.

Food could be better, but it could be worse. I made cajun last night, but I couldn't find my actual cajun spice mix so I had to wing it, and I added far too much cayenne so everything had to be cut with sour cream. I also made Mahi Mahi, spiced and broiled/blackened slightly, which turned out good except for being overly spicy. The husband still said it tasted fishy, but I think he just knew it was fish because I didn't detect any fishy taste at all.

I did yoga last night, yay! I think I need to do more leg stretching in general, because my legs muscles were way tight. However, I can easily forward bend my nose all the way to my knees nowadays, so that's some awesome flexibility. The set I did also had a balancing segment, and I realized that my left foot balanced better than my right. Funny, since I'm right handed, but my right big toe bends in a bit, and I'm trying to flatten it straight and separate it from my other toes, and I don't have as much strength in it right now. Gotta work on that.

It's WOOHOO WEDNESDAY! My Woohoo is that I dragged my butt up and did the yogas yesterday. My yoga practice has been slacking as of late. I'm meant to do 3 days a week, and it's been more like 1.

It's also karaoke night. Not sure what I want to sing yet, but I have a pretty good amount of voice right now, so maybe something really fun. Oh, and Nelson and I are going to do some Dr. Horrible for sure this time!

Okay, time to bang out some quick posting and then exercise!

Onward and upward!

Good for you with the flexibility! I have been trying to do more of that myself and it helps with the tight glutes!! LOL

Have a good time w/karoke.

Good Weather Finally!

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

Another Tuesday morning, planning for another run. Nice thing about this morning: my weather widgets all tell me that it's 48F, wow! That's practically shorts running weather! Well, I have capris I'll probably wear. Still, it's nice to see April being April vs before when "April had a blizzard, just to show she did not care." (via Dar Williams)

I made pesto last night which I haven't done in a while. I didn't have a lot of basil, so I made it with a mix of basil and tarragon. Still pretty delicious. Hubs said it was a bit sweet though, so next time a bit more pepper or parmesan I think. Or maybe thyme?

Today is a pretty typical day. My sleep feels like it's back to normal, woohoo! I have a ton to work on at work, but that's getting to be typical too.

I do have a Tuesday tip for you: stay busy! You are more likely to munch randomly just sitting around with no agenda. When I'm doing things I enjoy, I don't even think about food.

Just so you know, things I enjoy include my third try at the accordion last night, hehehe. I want my own, but a half-size one.

Okay, time to do, you know, stuff.

Onward and upward!

Yeah for capris!!! It's sunny out here too (but chilly -- 38 degrees) but that's capri weather for me!!! Fortunately Spot my Wonder Dog and I will be able to walk outside, so I'm ready!!

Did you use nuts in your pesto? I toast whatever nuts I'm going to use (usually pine nuts, but sometimes walnuts)and that cuts a little of the sweetness of the tarragon to my palate. But I LOVE the combo of basil and tarragon. DELISH!
